Undoubtedly Ronaldo’s best goal in his career
I dunno man, Ronaldo has scored some bangers in his career. that free kick vs Arsenal. that free kick vs Portsmouth. that 40 yards hit vs Porto. and these are just the (biased) ones that come to mind quick

A CL is miles ahead of a league title!
Who had the better season if Madrid wins it this year? Madrid or Juve? PSG?
Its so rare to win one. Just because Madrid makes it look like a regular occurance doesn't mean it isn't the pinnacle of world football.
It makes or breaks careers. Its where history is made.

His header vs Roma is also one of my favorites. The way he rushes into the camera frame before taking off and becoming a wrecking ball smashing it in. Probably the best header I've ever seen.

It does not feking matter who's the best player out of them two. And if you spend a minute to really think about it, you can't compare the two, it's imposiblle, so many different qualities on both ends.

What I would say is that both are on the same level, they've dominated football for what, 10-12 seasons now? They're both on no1 and no2 spots each season, that means they're kind of equally good even if it sounds off.

But fek that, it still doesn't matter who's better or if one is better. Enjoy them while they're here because boy we'll miss them. It kind of makes you sad already when you think that they're not going to be around for much longer. I understand there are people that like Diego, Pele, Van Basten etc, but these two boys took this sport to a whole new level, close to perfection I'd say, each of them with their own qualities and style of play, that's the beauty of it.

I love the whole build up to it. His presence caused the mistake, he chased it down, almost got an assist and then stayed alive in the box then did that.

I hope ESPN sports science do a segment on it. It’s completely absurd.

I like how you putting him as a top 10 player of all time is supposed to be a compliment
Err...one of the 10 best to have ever played the greatest and biggest sport on this planet of ours?

If that's not a compliment I don't know what is!

But let me guess this straight, you think they're 2 of the top 10 of all time and at the same time you believe there shouldn't even be a debate on who's better? How is that possible? I think I've repeated myself enough times in this thread and I'm over arguing about it but thinking it's not a contest at all is just idiotic. And that would be true wether he played the game he did or if he had played like crap.
I put Messi in the top 3 alongside Maradona and Pele. I don't think he's the greatest ever though; the best maybe but not the greatest. There are so many variables to take into account that it's probably impossible to ever determine who is anyway. & I didn't say there shouldn't be a debate, I said that Messi is better and the majority, and a large one at that, agree with me.

The reason I do not place Ronaldo alongside those 3 is very simple - he lacks the skill set to get in. That's not a knock on him however as he never possessed it. If I did place him alongside them then that would mean he's a contender for the best ever and a player who is not exceptional at anything outside of goalscoring doesn't qualify imo. I have a strong gut instinct about it and that will never change.

For example - can Ronaldo be regarded as greater than Di Stefano? I would be interested to get the views of carvajal, giorno and Vato on that.

You can't be serious
They don't, or at least the majority don't. I think you're imagining it tbh.

That free kick v Arsenal was disgraceful goalkeeping, to be fair. To get beat at your near post by a free kick from 40 yards out?

I think this has to be his best ever goal. Just insane technique.

Lol forgot about him! Guess I have my to also tint3d glasses on!
Nothing wrong with tinted glasses (as long as it stays the right side of delusion!). Football is a game that's meant to be enjoyed and both Messi and CR have provided us all with so many moments we sometimes don't realise how lucky we are to be watching it all on beautiful pitches and HD quality pictures (I'm sounding old now) .

Give it a few months and we'll be arguing about it, that's always how it goes. After the game has just finished is not long enough to try and rewrite history. A few months from now he'll have done nothing other than score, Madrid's midfield dominated the match and he was just the finishing touch.
I don't need to wait a month to say that he did barely anything else than score.

Not that it's actually his fault today, Madrid were dreadful, and he needs to be fresh to nail the ones he's bound to have, like he did today. Especially the second one, even with the Juve double fart, you need to track and force those errors to open the chance, and it wasn't the only time he was there to collect on other's mistakes too.

If today he's 100% Ronaldo, and not 95%, he leaves the game with an iconic goal (what we talked yesterday) and a poker, but, and I don't want to criticize, I'm stating something I saw, Real Madrid ask nothing from him beyond that (it's still asking a lot from one guy to nail the goals and save their ass in games like this one).

Haha totally agree though. I've given up comparing them both. They are both different and we are lucky to have seen two legendary players in one go.

Its too easy to make that comparison. Ronaldo's drive comes from himself. Why leave Utd for a lesser Madrid side if it wasn't about constant improvement?
If it were Ronaldo v Salah / Kane / KDB he would do everything he can to win that Balon Dor ahead of them.
Messi is 5 years older and retires. Do we think Ronaldo eases off or does he want to put Neymar in his place? Does he want history to have him above Maradonna? Pele?
How many stories do we have to hear about his days at Utd describing his work ethic and will to be the best to doubt comments like these?

The greatest ever champions league player and one of the best ever big game performers of all time.

Can’t say the same for Messi. Hate all you want, it’s true.

Then what's the problem? I said I only had a problem with those that believe it's not a debate at all

The reason I do not place Ronaldo alongside those 3 is very simple - he lacks the skill set to get in.
What if a player like Crouch plays and scores 3000 goals and leads his team to all sorts of trophies by being unstoppable in the air? Why does a player need to play in a certain way to be up there with those? It just makes no sense, there are hundreds of different ways to influence the game and as a forward there are hundreds of different ways to trouble defenses.

I know that unlike some people here you don't have any bias against Ronaldo, but you're looking at it the wrong way I think. An interesting thread I remember reading

Think you need to rewatch some of the goals he's scored.
Not having that is one of his top 10 goals in his career is worse than any comment in this thread by any poster. I don’t know what the syndrome is when something good happens to the person you’d want it to happen to most but you deny how good it is, but you sir have that syndrome.

Hold up. Are you now arguing that you can't say Messi is one of the best ever in big games?

He's destroyed your team in two finals and you still doubt him  How many times has he dicked Real Madrid in El Clasico?

Behave yourself ffs.

Ronaldo will probably retire with more Ballon d'Ors, Cls and national trophies than Messi!

Why so sensitive? I don’t recall saying Messi isn’t a big game performer.

I said CR7 greatest champions player AND one of the best big game players. Which you can’t say for Messi since he isn’t the greatest champions league player.

I still believe Messi is a better player even after those past years with Ronaldo winning everything. But it is probably because I rate or like his football qualities better than Ronaldo's ones. In terms of achievements and career, Ronaldo is probably ahead of Messi (but not far ahead as some seem to imply). Messi still has 2 more years to try to catchup though.

About this C. RONALDO vs MESSI IN COURT* that keeps on being spammed here :
I disagree on it. Almost all questions are about goal scoring and the judge somehow concludes that "Ronaldo is a better player in almost all category" haha. Football isn't only about the one who scores the goal, otherwise we would play with 10 poachers and 1 goalkeeper.

Chiellini on Ronaldo: "What he's done tonight will be talked about for decades and decades. I've never heard the fans of Turin applaud an opposing teams player until tonight. For me he's the best player in history."

Nah m8 that can’t be. Chiellini’s just delusional, right?

It was only a few weeks ago he was saying Messi is the best.

Then again, it was also only a few weeks ago he was saying Harry Kane is on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo.

I'll let you make up your own mind as to whether he's delusional or not.

Probably but they're just romantics who appreciate his vision and approach to the game.

There's honestly no way he should even be considered as good as Messi or Maradona.
Agree he’s not as good as those two but top 5 for me.

I don't need to wait a month to say that he did barely anything else than score.
He pressed, he drove the team forward several times, made the right runs, was very clinical when it mattered, assisted the 3-0 and made the pass to Asensio that hit the bar. He kept possession very well, made 1 wrong decision all match, when Madrid were having trouble playing from the back they hoofed it to him and he held the ball up. This was all while most of the team was struggling a lot.

I mean, what else do you want? A couple of dribbles would make it a complete performance then or does he have to play exactly like Messi does for it to be a complete performance?

How the hell can you watch that and say he barely did anything but score? Madrid replace him with any other player in the world and I don't think they even win the game tonight let alone win 3-0. They were clearly second best and if the result ended the way it did it was 90% because of him. The big difference is that for Madrid to be in dangerous positions all it takes is for them to get to the byline and it's a threat because there's a monster in the box. All other teams get to the there and it's not good enough.

Absolutely. Scholes also deserves some praise for that cross.

Messi has achieved almost similar heights in CL knockout games. It's not like he's a bad CL player. Both are one of the GOATs. But Messi is the GOAT. Anyone who debates otherwise just wants to have an unpopular opinion.
