I can't remember a time when Marcelo hasn't gone wandering. His first half performance this week is exactly what you'd expect. Pathetic attempt to defend a cross for Bayern's first and a beautiful piece of play for Madrid's first. He doesn't have the mindset or skillset to man mark someone. He plays with reckless abandon regardless of who he plays against, and as he's established himself as a key player the team have adapted to accommodate that. No reason to expect that to change here when it didn't change against Messi.
Casmerio, Varane or Ramos will have him under control anyway. He's hardly un-containable.

I'm confident a World Class LB can easily contain a winger having a good season.
Strange tangent, we were talking about man marking - which imo is a waste of his ability, besides he's not a man marking type of defender and plays a huge part in Madrid's attack, so asking him to sit back and just keep an eye on Salah won't be the best use of him.

Hopefully the ref won’t do them massive favours like vs Roma.
One last big game from Ronaldo! Real will be comfortable 3rd season in a row, they’ve done it all before, whereas Liverpool and Klopp are perennial bottlers.

Young is hardly a world class LB and he was able to do this easily and get forward and support the attack. If Marcelo isn't capable of doing that, Casemiro, Varane or Ramos certainly is.

Do you support Man Utd? If so, you’re a fecking oddball.
I support Feyenoord.

As for United, I love United, but I'm not from England and English football was scarcely available during Liverpools glory years. Hence, I don't really share your hatred of them. It's probably also a cultural thing since I fecking loathe Ajax, but would support them passionately if they made the CL final and played Madrid.

As for being a fecking oddball; no argument there.

I wanted to click on liverpool but ban warning looks serious so i will write it here.
I am not club "hater". I respect every club. But real and liverpool i really hate. For liverpool explanation is not needed i guess. Their delusion, their hate towards us, their fans, arch rivals etc...
But real represents everything what i hate in football. It is a club who have rule; " if we can't win fairly, then we will cheat. If cheating is not enough, then refs will help us". This is third year in a row when they are in final because of refs help. I can't support that. They are diving all the time. I can't support that. Their behaviour during the game towards ref and oppo players is disgusting. I can't support that. They have dirtiest player on planet, sergio ramos. I can't support team which have him.
So i will not say that i will support liverpool but i will certainly not support real.

About game; i don't think that liverpool have any chance against real. Real is better in every position, know how to play finals, know how to adapt and they are clinical in front of goal. Liverpool have lovren.

Edit; i know that we have few good and nice madrid posters here so sorry guys, nothing personal
I wander what you think about Barcelona getting into the final thanks to Ovrebo, or the refereeing in the City-Liverpool tie, or last year's game between Barca: PSG, or the the countless times referees fecked up? It's not just Real, the refereeing has been shambles for years and lots of team had been favored not just Real.

Feck, anyone remembers Bayern: Dortmund final, Dante's tackle on Reus in the box while on a yellow? Penalty and red card the whole day long, while Dortmund were 1:0 already. I can go on and that list would be endless, and trust me it's not just Real. That claim that they are in the third final in a row thanks to referees is childish and reeks of what a desperate Barca fan would say.

I don’t get the Madrid hate because they have a lot of European trophies. One poster wrote “we are the big club but only have 3”. I think some united fans are deluding themselves. We were nowhere til fergie took over so why should we have loads more? Besides that we also had the European ban on English clubs and the 3 foreigner rule definitely hampered United more than the likes of Spanish clubs because even Giggs was seen as a foreigner

Wanting Madrid to get beaten because they will get 3 in a row or have 1 more trophy? Stinks of teenagerism

Seriously though, with Pools ability to leak goals like they did yesterday and in the first leg I fully expect Real to put at least 3 past them. Rarely have I seen a team at this level being thát bad at seeing a game out. They were 5-2 up after the first leg and their strategy is, feck off lets attack like we need to score at least 5 goals and leave an insane amount of space at the back. Sure, it's entertaining if you're into kamikaze football, but why would anyone think that's a good idea.
Because we can't possibly do it in that style of play, the way Juve or Atlético have done it in the past. Attack is our best defence.

Well here we are.. the nightmare one step away from being realised..

I don't get why anyone has a problem with Real Madrid winning it, I think Liverpool's name has been on the trophy all along and expect them to win and comfortably.

Madrid have to put in a Mourinho-esque performance to stop the scousers attack.

Gosh, there is no team in the world I despise more than Real. This goes back for decades. But I just cannot see them losing this to Liverpool. Liverpool is a one trick pony, and Real will take that one trick away. And as I Bayern fan I could cry since it is us who should have won it.

I’ve heard rumours.. no fecking way am I watching that shite. Hala Madrid! I’ll even buy the fecking final shirt with Ronaldo #7 if they win
I thought Carragher was banned from TV until August? He should hang his head in shame.

This is after a fecking semi final, I don't even want to picture the scenes if they actually win it.

Please Ronnie, bring your A game.

It’s got the bindippers name on it. They’ve only played one half decent team in City on the way.
This. the stars aligned when Roma miraculously knocked out Barca and of course they went on to get a by into the final. Now it's 'anything can happen in a one off game'.. They're winning it.

100% this.

Anyone not wanting Madrid to win this match must either be an incredibly jealous person or was abused by a Madrid player as a child.

Love to know the ages of some of the extreme Real haters. Seems like they only know the very recent Real. I remember when the period of time where they weren’t able to make it past the QF, that wasn’t that long ago either.

Ok, here goes...

One hopes that Herr Klopp will continue with the unique success he has achieved with most of his previous cup final teams.

Or shall we just get @Red Katie to perform her usual Norse voodoo negative magic stuff?

I don't like Real as much as anyone in here but i'll be cheering for them all the way.
12 or 13 or 3 in a row, who cares, nobody is going to catch them in the near future.

Anyone who wants Liverpool to win the CL needs to go find their head. I lived in Liverpool all my life and I support Man Utd. I don’t think you understand how unbearable they are at the best of times. They have been banging on about 5 times for years and years can you imagine 6 times? They are the type of fans that never forget. They are truly the worst type of fans and you want them to win again!?!

People love an underdog story. No one roots for Goliath in David versus Goliath (though if you do, fair play to you ofcourse).

Also, Ronaldo is probably the most polarizing figure in world football. You love him, or can't stand him. Same goes for Sergio Ramos. Also think the Mourinho days have done no good to Real's reputation. They're an easy to hate club. They're good, they're rich, they're the pinnacle of world football.

To quote Ronaldo: "I'm booed because I'm rich, handsome and brilliant" Madrid in a nutshell.

I like your plan
:D
I swear, do people even watched us at any point this season? We didn't plan to sit back against Bayern Munich, in their stadium, what makes you think we're going to do it against Liverpool in a neutral venue? Also, devastating on the counter? This season? When?

One thing we consistently have trouble dealing with is a well organized, high intensity high pressing line. We could barely get out of our half in two against bayern and created so many chances. This was an issue against juventus as well, and even PSG in the first leg. Even if we had a team built to play like that, and we don't, and even if Zidane decides to either axe some big names or ask them to play against their best style, we've gone all seasons being utterly incapable of putting together the semblance of an actual defence.

Like it but a 4-1 or 5-2 looks more likely(and then it will turn out to be milan-juventus 2.0, now with more bad penalty shots!)
This is the thread for positivity giorno! Don’t come defeat me with your logic and reality!

But on a serious note - I thought you defended quite deep against Bayern?
No they fecking don't. They just spout the cliche of the day.

Dunno if it's mentioned before and i definitely don't want to jinx these superb records but after a quick research Liverpool lost all the finals in all the competitons last time they played.

UEFA Champions League

vs Milan in 2007 - Lost

UEFA Europa League

vs Sevilla in 2016 - Lost

FA Cup

vs Chelsea in 2012 - Lost

League Cup

vs Man City in 2016 - Lost

*the last time they actually won a thing was a mighty League Cup against Championship team Cardiff City on penalties in 2012

Also, Jürgen the best thing since sliced bread Flopp lost these with Borussia Dortmund before losing to Sevilla and Man City with Liverpool;

UEFA Champions League

vs Bayern Munich in 2013

DFB-Pokal

vs Bayern Munich in 2014

vs Wolfsburg in 2015

DFL-Supercup (as Bundesliga champions)

vs Schalke in 2011

vs Bayern Munich 2012

Hector Cuper in disguise?

This is an abysmal record however way you look at. And long may it continue

I am nearly 40 and that is the main reason why i despise real and barca. In my age i don't like to see their childish behaviour on the pitch. I grow up watching players who were man not spoiled kids with all that theatrical behavior.

I'm holding on to the hope that the following match ups tip the scales massively in Madrid's favor cancelling out Liverpool's attacking power;

Ronny vs Lovren
Kroos, Modric vs Henderson Wijnaldum

Would love both teams to lose the final. Anyway a 95th minute 'offside hand of god goal' by Madrid would do nicely. That would ensure no bragging rights for either team.

Incredible to be in a CL final. The match up could, on paper at least, make for a fantastic game. That said, the thought of Henderson against Kroos/Modric and Ronaldo against Lovren/TAA makes me shudder.

Not to mention that we probably would have more than three if what was surely destined to be one of our greatest ever teams wasn't decimated in a plane crash.

Trying to imagine Gary Neville or Paul Scholes do the same to Mourinho, but just can't.

Not sure if I like it.
Scholes and Neville would never do that.

1. It is extremely unprofessional to do than on TV from pundits.

2. Pundits are meant to remain unbiased and impartial and give a true view of events.

3. In no way should you keep your job as a pundit when you behave favourably to the manager and team you support. They have a job to be impartial.

4. This is part of the reason Klopp and Liverpool can do no wrong. English football punditry is riddled with past Liverpool players. There seems to be more Liverpool connected pundits than from any other club. They also always come across as biased as well.
