He definitely isn't ready yet. We all saw what happened with Januzaj and Wilson when they were promoted too early.
On top of that considering how our established attackers are struggling and unhappy. I would rather he continued his education in the reserves.
They both scored two on their debuts?

I think that’s what he’s alluding to.
Too much too soon. Maybe.
I think if you have the ability and that application you can progress

Scoring 2 on his debut hasn’t hindered Rash

That's not the best example at all. Januzaj had absolutely great first season for a youngster but didn't have the attitude to continue his development. That's why he wasted few other two seasons under three different managers. Only now he's starting to find his feet but in a average midtable football club in Spain. Talent was there. Wilson was overhyped on here and very one dimensional player, never looked like ready for the physicality of the premier league. His poor skillset and terrible stamina/efforts with injuries puts him where he is. He will be lucky to play premier league regularly one day.

Chong had a major injury and recovered extremely well, handled the step-up to poor U23 team way ahead of schedule, apart having top talent, he looks also very hungry and determined, playing in a position we need. He should be absolutely tried out if we have meaningless games. He's good enough when he's old enough and he is good enough to play a minor role in the first team. He's what we lack on the right wing.

As far as I remember both stopped working as hard when they were given the chance with the first team because they thought they made it. This was according to one of the youth coaches.
I have stopped watching the U23 games but when I used to watch them I would say Wilson and Ravel impressed me the most. Fair enough Wilson's limited skillset didn't translate that well but boy was it great for the reserves.

What's Wilson doing now?

No idea, I am talking about Wilson's reserve season when Moyes was manager.
I know, just wondering where his career is heading. Just checked and he's been on loan at Sheffield United since January 10. He's only played twice for them and has scored once

Ravel was totally different level than Wilson, the guy had only pace, good finishing and composure, lacked in every other aspect to make the next step but I won't argue about what they may have been or how good they could be. If player stop working on him when he makes his debut, there is something wrong with him, introducing him to the first team later won't change it. Rashford took his chance well for instance, Chong looks mentally strong, showed that again by recovering from the injury brilliantly, if he's got the ability, which he has, he should be introduced, especially when the timing is right and I think it is now.

These players are human beings. Most young people can't handle the fame these guys are thurst into. It is the club's job to guide them. All of the players mentioned might just have been mentally weak but I am hoping the club have right staff to identify and nurture our future academy stars.

Think he’ll get a run out last home game of the season, him and Gomes.

Considering our rw position is up for grabs, giving him some minutes there already next game wouldn't be a crazy idea. How much weaker would we be if he played there instead of Mata or Lingard?

Chong isn't ready for first team football with United yet. For a one off game then yes.

Definitely can't see us playing him until we get second place wrapped up. The earlier we do that, the more chance we have of seeing him.
If we beat Brighton on friday it's basically done anyway. We'd only need a point away at West Ham after that.

I think next season we will need to introduce some of the Young players to our squad, especially a RW, and a RB, If we don't bring in players for these positions.

Some of these young players deserve a chance, and are raring to go.

Only when second is guaranteed will he use some youngsters, so the sooner the better. Rest some for FA cup final, andI really hope some Youngster has a stormer and makes the bench at Wembley.

Even after we secure second I doubt he’ll feature. We’ll need to keep up some form/momentum for players that will play in the final and we’ve enough first teamers in Chong’s position (Martial, Rashford, Mata) that are hungry for game time as it is. There’s a long shot of some sort of cameo from the bench (like Gomes, last season) but not a hope in hell of starting any games.

I don't mean a lot of them starting @Pogue Mahone maybe 2, but if we had an option of another 1 or 2 on the bench to give them the experience it would be nice to see.

I don't expect to see him for the first team this season but I really hope he goes on the preseason tour.

To be fair to Chong, when are you gonna give him minutes?

If we sign a much needed RW (Willian, Costa..etc) that will leave Martial & Rashford first choices to come off the bench as wingers, not Chong.

Spurs could still potentialy take 2nd if we lost both our last two and they won their last 3.

He's still a bit off first team in terms of age, but over the next year he will get chances. I don't think the club will be against moving him up the pecking order if he took his chance and tore some defenders apart.

It's going to be the usual case of being patient, standing out at u23 level and then taking his chance when it comes.

Hope to see him play in one of our remaining league games, and not for 5 mins only. Would be great to get a feel for where he's at development-wise.

The RB spot is most probably going to Fosu-Mensah.

Also I don't see the need to strengthen the attack unless it's a world class option that's gonna guarantee 30 goals, and I'm sure Jose is more than aware of the depth we have up top, a full season in the 23's or half season then loan, won't hurt Chong's development he's still only 18, remember hes only just about been here for 2 years.

If he does go out on loan, maybe abroad would suit him better than an underperforming L1 or champs side.

Great to see journey's like that for a young player, they must be living the dream already.

Making it as a first team player and suddenly earning huge money must be absolutely mind blowing.

I really like Chong and hope we give him plenty of chances, he seems to have the desire/dedication required.

Please have him in the squad against Watford
Good chance he will be if we win or draw against West Ham. 2nd will be guaranteed and Jose would want to rest players for final and save them from any injuries.

We might see repeat of last season's last league game.

This boy is special, hope we see him against Watford and that he lays a claim to the RW spot.

Still very raw, but he has loads of potential and has shown flashes. I would love to see him debut.

Not sure it's going to happen. He was out late on Friday night with his family catching a movie.

He seems a really great lad. The last young United player I met before they were famous was a young lad called David Beckham, so hope that bodes well

I’ve no problem with him not getting any minutes this weekend.

He’s just had his first season with the u23s at the tender age of 18. I know a lot of players make it at that age and he’s excelled but I don’t think there’s any harm in bringing him through slowly.

Your last paragraph appears to be a contradiction. As you said, a lot of players have made an impact at 18. It is true that there is ‘no harm in bringing him through slowly’, so if he hadn’t ‘excelled’, as you put it, then that would be exactly what we should do. However, given the fact he has indeed excelled, he should be rewarded. 18 years old is a proper professional footballer age now, I think of a kid at that age shows he could offer the team something, I don’t think he shouldn’t be played just because he’s 18.

Give him a chance. He’s done more than Angel Gomes has this season to warrant being involved in the first team in my opinion, and I suspect that if he had ‘played a key role in England’s WC win’, he’d have made his debut by now, just as the rest of that squad has for a whole host of top clubs after basically being bullied into it by the media.
