Mexico were having all their chances from left and got the goal from that side too. Lahm was rock solid in defence first and foremost and went to support the attack at the right time. Kimmich is nothing like Lahm.

They have no holding mid. Khedira is basically an attack minded box to box with his movement, kroos rarely shines in a 2 man mid especially without a more defensive player next to him. So much space behind the midfield

This is the same squad that made the semis at Euro 16 and a large core of the squad from the 2014 winning team are still here. Granted some players like Muller have been on a poor run of form this season but they're still players in their prime years.
