Well worth that new contract then.
Well you are the one who wanted to know what he has contributed.
We have won two major trophies in the last two years and he played an important role in both the campaigns. He was very good in The Europa League final too

So depressing, this means no additional CM which we actually need and more throwing this lump on every game for the last 25 minutes and just going long ball, not to mention the games where he starts as a faux CM, such a terrible descion but in keeping with this manager, the sooner both are gone the better.
Where are we going to play this new CM?

He doesnt always give his all, thats precisely one of the reasons why so many people dont like him.
Thats literally the complete opposite of what he does. Fellaini doesnt fail on effort or passion, he fails on positioning in midfield. I always defend the big fella but that is his weakness. Passion and workrate you cant seriously be faulting him for.

And in football ability, Don't forget that.

What’s the bet that Fellaini starts against England, injures someone important (probably our Jesse,) gets himself sent off and then announces he’s staying in the following hours.
Should that happen, this would become the most entertaining thread of the year, so far.

Apart from the fact it is? Imagine if this was Pogba or Martial, or any other player he doesn’t seem bizarrely worship the ground for.
Imagine he's what, exactly?

Martial is requesting you leave the club and Jose wants him to stay. Or has this been conveniently ignored?

and the 3rd year jose meltdown has started, hes a plan b option for the last 10 mins of games to punt the ball up to and thats it, hardly expected him to go to another club in europe to be honest thought china would have been his best bet but unfortunatly were stuck with him still.

Perhaps Fellaini has played hardball in a bid to feel loved and wanted, because those are emotions that United fans have rarely expressed towards him. He has been the butt of jokes far more often than he has been the subject of considered debate as to his strengths and weaknesses.

Mourinho hates Martial remember. I mean, he wants Martial to stay and hasn't sold him during his two year tenure but he still hates him.

Just told another United fan at work about this and he went on a massive rant. Calmed down after a minute and said 'well at least there's more money for other positions like effing left back'.

Then I told him that Mourinho wants 50 games from Young next season.

Don't think I've ever heard so many swear words in such a short space of time.

Hope him staying doesn't block Gomes pathway to the first team?
Gomes is 17.
Jose is unlikely to play a 17 year old for more than a few minutes per season.
In 3-4 years when Gomes will be getting regular game time, Fellaini will be long gone.
And if Fellaini were to leave, Jose will buy another CM, who is in his absolute prime (probably mid-late 20s).

The 'not his team' excuse was always a stretch as it was even used on days when half the outfield players were his signings and the other half from the LVG era were the ones he wanted to stay. Lingard, Young, Fellaini, Valencia, Smalling.

Young and Val especially will be first teamers well into next season. That imaginary upgrade at the fullback position is a newspaper myth

Why are people so upset? We may now have more transfer funds to get better players in for more urgent positions, and the transfer window has not closed yet so all the doom mongering seems excessive.

Ha ha...hard to be expecting proper change with United next year.

I hear hes only keeping them so he can hurl rocks at them when he's bored.

Someone in this exact thread called him an excellent player for feck sake.

That's what we were talking about.
I don't agree with that but I can't accept people downplaying how dedication and the role he has played for us in the last few years.
Riddle me this
Well you are the one who wanted to know what he has contributed.

How can you say that he has been a total waster

Martial hasn’t been having conversations in the media telling them that Manchester United will need to pay £44m to replace him if he leaves, though.

Yaaay let’s give him a new bumper contract and tie him down for 2 years! after all everybody needs that big player to smash balls into at the end of a game!

Fecking hell.

I can’t wait for those last 10 minutes in games where Fallaini comes off the bench and we punt long balls  well worth the new contract.

Honestly, be fair, is he really a bad squad option to have? Do people forget that he has actually scored a decent amount of important goals for us?. I never expected another midfielder signing and even if we had made one he would have been a squad option(as Fellaini is). Matic, Fred, Pogba can be a good midfield.
I don't want him starting in the knockout stages of the Champions League next season but he can play his part throughout the season, nobody can criticise his effort.

The press linked him with PSG, AC Milan and Arsenal, and that's without googling because I'm sure there's more. More speculation. Again, perhaps he decided to stay because he's actually happy at our club?
I'm sure he is ecstatic after running his mouth in the press, only to be rewarded with a salary increase and further 2 years added to his contract. He did his work very well.

Because they aren't really into plan B when Fellaini is introduced. In other words when we put him on we revert to hoof balls which is pretty irritating sight to see.

Which is odd to me. Do people think we should get a shiny new expensive midfielder who would either replace one of Pogba or Matic (no chance) or fight for a starting place with the likes of Herrera, McTominay and Pereira? No point risking that much when there are much bigger issues to deal with.
I'm not concerned in the slightest for the central midfield area, our current personnel in that area are sufficient enough, I just don't want Fellaini at the club as I see him as a negative byproduct of the Moyes era. Plus the fact that I think he is a distinctly average footballer.

Absolute fecking joke, the man's useless. Should be no where near our squad. 5 fecking years he's played for us, and now we have to suffer another 2 years.

I'm gobsmacked, i thought we'd seen the back of him

Of course he is a good squad option and thats exactly what he will be. It shows you the level of intellect on here when people are asking where Fred will be playing now.

I've no issues with the guy. Nothing wrong with seeing what's out there when it's renewal time. I'm sure if a good club had made him a better off he'd have gone...and rightly so. But he's obviously weighed it all up and decided he'd rather continue here. Fair play.

In the place of?
Fred doesn't need to be a starter and neither does Matic, they can rotate, Fred would offer the legs over Matic in plenty of games where his mobility is an issue, this midfield is badly lacking a playmaker.

I am not happy with what Fellaini said but you can't compare him and Martial.
Martial is worshipped by United supporters whereas Fellaini is booed no matter what he does. Maybe Fellaini is just pissed off and angry
