I love that Mozer pick @Gio . I picked him in the Americas Draft and he looked the definition of a hidden gem. Great technique, a brilliant athlete, and seems to have been very highly regarded wherever he played.
He’ll be a while. He has to keep refreshing it until @Pat_Mustard and I are matched up.
Think when it comes to full backs in the draft community, the super human term (Can defend and attack at the highest level and can play in a 4 man or 5 man system with equal ease) is reserved for the likes Facchetti/Cafu/Carlos Alberto.
I hadn't watched too much of Facchetti from a full match perspective, so watched a couple of games this week as I wanted to watch full matches of a couple other players as well.
Facchetti is seen as an epitome of a super human left back in the draft threads here, who can man a flank by himself even in a 4 man setup.
Who could attack at the highest level (being the only source of width at times in zona mistake kind of setups) while still facing some of the best wingers and keeping them quiet.
The two games I watched were:
1970 WC final (mainly for Gerson and Facchetti) : Facchetti's attacking output was very limited in this game considering he was up against Jairzinho. Hardly saw him run up the pitch.
1967 EC final (mainly for Johnstone and Facchetti) : Jimmy Johnstone was the best Celtic attacker the Italian's had anticipated and Facchetti tried or was instructed to stay away from him. In fact, it was Burgnich who was man marking him throughout the game and did a good job to be honest. I think Burgnich was way more agile than we rate him here limiting him to a static right back position. I think he would do a more than decent job as a left back or even a destroyer based on that game.
I'll try to watch a few more big games of Carlos Alberto and Facchetti when I get time. Full backs decide games very often in drafts and the kind of flexibility the GOAT's offer is amazing. Maybe should be reconsidered at times, especially when the likes of Roberto Carlos/Jorginho/Marcelo/Alves etc are often called out for their defensive liabilities while attacking, but the likes of Facchetti/Cafu/Carlos Alberto are treated at the same defensive level as the greatest defensive fullbacks in Bergomi/Thuram/Krol/Burgnich/Maldini

He was also much more capable in attack than we rate him. There is a certain rigidity in the draft community towards few players.
Lots of man markers from that era have to problems with moving to another flank btw. Gentile, for example, had his arguably best season played as a left back.
Regarding Facchetti's reputation — it also depends on the draft history. Facchetti is one of antohan's favourites and he is (well, at least was) one of the most articulate posters on here. Although he definitely had better games than those two finals.

You could say that to some extent Facchetti's wing-play is overrated in terms of his crossing and maintaining width but he was a force to be reckoned with with his forward running and his goal threat cutting inwards. In the Celtic-Inter game that you watched, Facchetti man-marked Lennox, with Burgnich being tasked with handling Johnstone. Ultimately they both did their briefs brilliantly as both the danger-men were essentially nullified and the Inter defense did its job. However, they were tactically out-maneuvered by the Lisbon Lions, with them simply overloading Inter's defense and they just didn't have an answer for that. Obviously the absence of Suarez didn't help them at all either. In fact I've read in some places that Johnstone (and Lennox for that matter) willingly sacrificed themselves by being man-marked and trying to distort Inter's defense as opposed to going for glory themselves.
In WC Final Facchetti man-marked Jairzinho and his offensive game was severely limited as a result but it was Jairzinho's quietest game in the tournament and apart from a few instances in the 2nd game where he was threatening Facchetti did his brief pretty well I'd say. He's definitely had better offensive games than those 2 games were he was strictly man-marking. But overall I do buy your point in that some FBs tend to be rated as superhuman who can do just about everything.
I'd say the main issue would be the interpretation of their wing-play when it comes to the likes of C.Alberto and Facchetti. The former wasn't really a Cafu or a wing-back for that matter but one of the greatest playmakers at the FB positions and he was imo flawless defensively. I rank his WC 1970 as up there amongst the very best and I'd go so far as to rate him as a more important player for Brazil than Gerson himself (controversial I know) over the course of the tournament.

Facchetti too on the other hand was a more unique threat from the left and whilst he was capable of stretching defenses with his searing pace (esp on the break), he wasn't really a pure wing-back in the mould of a R.Carlos imo. Ultimately, players like C.Alberto and Facchetti were great defensively and offensively as far as I'm concerned but perhaps as you've mentioned there might be some existing misconceptions about their offensive game (esp Facchetti's since C.Alberto is not really seen as a hybrid of Cafu and Thuram on here.)
Haha I work weekend graves, so I’m usually awake at all kinds of stupid hours, even on my nights off.
See that's the thing. I have seen Facchetti being a concern among people only when he is up against a 2 vs 1 GOAT Winger plus GOAT attacking full back combo.
Put in a great winger against him (without an attacking FB) and he is expected to keep him in his pocket while still being the sole provider of width on tha flank and its still considered okay.
I don't think that is correct. Sure he is great defensively and attacking wise as well. Heck, I like my full backs tall and Facchetti helped his fair bit with even winning headers in the box from what I have seen.
But expecting him to do two jobs at once against the greats without gaps being left sometimes (most times actually) is what I don't like with these hybrid fullbacks over here.
Take this game for example. You have Facchetti against Overmars and Zanetti.
He is expected to both cover for the fast paced and tricky Overmars and be the sole provider of width on the left. With Zanetti in there too, it should ideally make that flank non existent attacking wise.

Facchetti is seen like superman on here, how often we hear how he will 'run the flank' on his own when in real life football it doesn't work that away, esp against a wing combo like Overmars-Zanetti.
while i agree fit general idea that some players are a bit overrated i dont see many issues with Facchetti defending this "Zanetti - Overmars" flank. First of all you have Zanetti going inside into the midfield to help out the midfield battle so it isnt really a 2v1 its more like 1v1 and Facchetti destroys Overmars in a draft game and rightly so. There is obviously a possibility that Overmars rips him to pieces in a real game but you have that possibility in every potential match up but you have to back up the better player if he is in the right setup and Facchetti is as he has a lot of protection, specially in areas where Overmars would cut in. Van Hanegem was immense defensive wise.
Back to the original idea, as i said we overrated some and underrate the others. You can see it in the previous draft with Nilton Santos as well. Nobody doubts the overall quality of the guy and he deserved his GOAT status but he has a reputation of a wingback and was tried to be sold as a wingback yet in a footage we were provided he barely moved up and was playing in a balanced fullback role which tbf was probably pretty offensive back in the day but still, IMO we should treat him like a balanced fullback and give the credit to a more modern ones for actually dominating the whole flank.
