Yeah Gio still technically has a pick but his time was up.
Give it a few more hours and then do draw

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
I was all happy that in my sleepy state, I managed to find Buchwald. Then was kindly advised by the grinches up there that it was invalid.
 Frankly I see an upside to that, as Buchwald was tailor-made for that gig as one of the two stoppers alongside Sammer, and Edgar is undoubtedly rigging the draw right now so that we end up playing each other ;).

Hadn't noticed that. Looks like Gio was even less enthusiastic about that reinforcement round than me.
Drafters made a lot of rotations from what I see to accommodate reinforcements so it will be interesting to see how many would line up after this round. I see you went for the keeper marry-go-round which was something I also was contemplating if my first choices didn't make it to me.

Yeah I was quite happy until I realized. If I found him the first time around I might have not got Schnellinger and gone a different route instead. I guess I’ll make do with those full backs instead :p

Honestly, I knew I was backing myself into a corner with the diamond formation as it was always going to be very tough to upgrade with the restrictions. If ever a draft pool was made for a formation with wingers it was this one. I pretty much built the team I wanted to in the initial drafting, and I've tried to lay the groundwork for a potential reinforcement or two next time if I blunder through my next match and my few possibilities are available. I actually had alternatives to Rivera in the initial drafting that would have been more restriction-friendly, but he was the standout option for me in that position and I probably wouldn't have made it through the first round without him.

You've done pretty fecking well out of this round of reinforcements . On the other hand, at least I won't need to spend much time editing my write up from my first round match

I thought Blokhin would have interested you with the pre-war Leonidas going under the radar sometimes

Blokhin would've been fantastic — if he had a 50's slot (not sure if he did or did not)

Think you needed some luck with the RR and some of the top quality right backs being available to you which would’ve boosted that diamond.

There are plenty of quality CMs that can replace Bonhof and you can free that WC slot for someone like Carlos Alberto.

The 50’s slot is the hardest there is. Can’t touch it with Kalle and Zico already in and there are players like Titans that block nobody and great fit for various systems.

Good thing is that even being last in the RR the restrictions make it easier to get your man as many teams would find it hard to fit him in.

Actually I forgot that I did have a workable plan that involved Blokhin. It would have meant switching to a 4-3-3 though, and I didn't think it looked as natural a fit for the players as the diamond, but maybe I should have tried it anyway just to switch things up. 'Settled lineup' isn't generally seen as a positive in these drafts unfortunately :D

What do people think of a Gerson-Makelele midfield?

Wanted to drop Davids for Makelele as I have never used Gerson before and he would have been great with my wingers but I knew how the discussions would end up about his defensive work rate.

Think he would have been a huge upgrade on Clodoaldo but chickened out in the end even though he has played a sole defensive sheild for Madrid before

The 40s slot is my biggest pain in the arse. Really don't want to touch Facchetti and Rivera (who fill my CL slots too) which immediately rules out a lot of potentially great reinforcements. Between the restrictions and my general fetish for him in that side midfielder role, there's actually not that many midfielders who fit the bill for me as a Bonhof replacement :(

I don’t particularly like it to be honest. Too passenger like and would fit in a more possession based system rather than direct/counter attacking side. Both Makelele and Gerson qualities include great positional sense and timing their challenges and I’d rather partner Makelele with more dynamic B2B player, especially with Bergkamp ahead of them who wouldn’t provide much in the defensive stage.

Good job chickening out then

True that. I can't touch Tresor and Forster myself. Was tough seeing Tigana go away like that.

Ah, a nice easy draw I see :wenger:. @Enigma_87 when do you want to play mate? I can pretty much do any day from tomorrow onward, but Wednesday or Friday would be best.
Yeah, Wednesday is fine mate. Not much tinkering to do either way. Only changing of personnel as you can imagine.

ah yea, forgot you had him mate. With my RB sorted it's not a position I've researched all that much
