If I was Mourinho, I would have already resigned, because he can’t do his job if they don’t sign the players he wants

Guardiola and Klopp can sign the players they wants, Mourinho can’t.

And yet Pep keeps failing to get the players he wants - Sanchez, Fred, Jorginho. Don’t be such a drama queen.

Agree with you on most. $hitty is not as good as Pep’s UEFAlona, at least the one from 2008 to 2011 which won two CLs and completely outclassed Madrid. It’s results in Europe speak for themselves. Also there’s the fact that on a direct March we actually soundly beat them! That city’s far from invincible. They just had a freak season, having won or tied hands in the last minutes which gave the illusion of consistency.

They are the tema to beat, not in direct matches because we have already done so, but in consistency through the league. We can’t lose points against fodder as we did last season. I’m sure the addition of Fred will help our transition from defense to attack, but we still miss a RW, which can provide Lukaku, and an LB which can aid Sanchez/Martial to be more threatening.

$hitty isn’t the best PL team ever, both United 98-99, United 07-08, United 12-13, and the Arsenal Invincibles were way better. Also they are nowhere as good as the best Barcelona side in history, which is right there with United 99, Zidane’s Madrid, and Sachi’s Milan as one of the best club sides in history (although I seriously despise possesion based game, and despise even more UEFAlona’s fake humbleness and hypocritical attitude).
Use proper names.

I think Sanchez = Griezmann is a good call actually. I also think they're both not as good as people think they are at the moment. I feel that both of them had their best seasons two seasons back and at that time they were simply scintillating. Right now they're both players who seem to live on key moments, i.e., a key assist or a key goal in a game where they were otherwise not really performing as well as they could have in.
I'd agree that Griezmann was at his peak two years ago , however he was excellent in the WC And his form hasn't fallen off a cliff like Sanchez last year.

concentrate on your Mourinho statement for a minute 'they (United) don't sign the players he wants', that's the problem I have, we know who Pep & Klopp want because they tell us regardless of wether they get them, Jose plays this game of cat and mouse, or even worse denies any knowledge of our transfer activity, if he came out and said he was interested in Mahrez, D. Costa, Zaha, Pulisic etc, we could rightly assume he was keen to address our RW, but does anyone really know who he would like to bring in ?

We do need a couple more positions filled eg RW and LB at least . Whether this happens though is starting to look doubtful. Liverpool Arsenal and Chelsea seem to be doing ok in the short window which is a worry. City already have a strong squad. I dont like reading that Pogba wants to go back to Juve either. Todays news also says Sandro off to PSG. Interesting 3 weeks to come.

If we can solve the RW, i don't mind this. however i'd really also like a CB to be the main target to pair with bailly.

I might be a sucker for Shaw, but i think he can do it. He just has to be 100% focused for the season.

I am worried. We are no stronger than we were last season so I don't see how the season is gonna have any different outcome? Jose's all vibe is becoming quite depressing and moaning. He knew it's WC year and highly likely Belgium and France would go quite deep in the competition so we would be light at the start of the season.

Rivals have strengthened, that's how. 2nd this year would be great.

So does this quote mean we’re probably not signing a defender this window? Because the transfer window closes before the season starts.

what a strange transfer window. normally we are linked with every man and his dog, the lack of even made up transfers is not even happening this year. Fred was a good signing, dalot isn't a 1st team player yet, so really we go into the season with the same squad as we finished last season with our rivals strengthing their sides.

signed an excellent player and are miles ahead of us

the point is we haven't done anything significant to bridge the gap
This place.....I didn't suggest that we we close to city or that he wasn't a good player.

Please don't tell me you think we will win the league?
Again this place.....where did I suggest this? Not about thinking we can win anything but equally Utd shouldn't be glad with second either before we have kicked a ball otherwise what is the point.

So you don't think we will win but you're not happy with 2nd, ok got it.

Well we shouldn't no, But we are clearly much weaker than Man City and expectations have to be realistic. 2nd would be a great finish IMO. I'm sure Watford for example would like to win the league, but they just don't have level of talent to win it.

The horrible thing is, Liverpool have strengthened very well and arguably have a better team than us now. Chelsea will be adding more and will have the new manager bounce back they tend to have. Spurs are consistent in the league so will be up there (although i'm shocked they haven't added). So we are in a position where we could end up anywhere from 2nd to 5th this season.

Unfortunately we have yes. Believe me, most people want to believe but years of squad neglect, horrendous tactics and currently a miserable manager will do that to people.

It’s not even about transfers for me. A good manager would get much more out of what we have. I just don’t trust Jose in the slightest. He’s negative in every aspect of management and has about 1% of the charisma he once had.

I'm wouldn't be surprised if the board weren't giving Mourinho a lot of money. His transfers have been very hit and miss. The only one's you could really call flat out successes so far are Lukaku, Matic, and maybe Pogba, assuming he actually stays, and two of them cost an absolute bomb. He's also failed to addressed some of our most glaring weaknesses by not signing a right winger, full backs, and spending 70m on two center backs who are jsut pure potential more than anything.

For a manager known for being astute in the transfer window, he hasn't really done a great job with the £300m they already gave him (this summer not included).

Everyone around (other than Spurs) are strengthens whilst we are sitting on our hands with a miserable manager who yet again is slagging off our best player. Not optimistic one bit about next season.

Don't buy that at all. We're hardly strapped for cash. The truth is we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. Besides Liverpool no other teams have been that active. The World Cup has just meant all transfer activity being delayed. I'm sure we'll see some news coming through in the next few days. Don't panic yet.

But yeah agree the money so far hasn't been spent well enough. Especially in defence!

Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised, but at the same time it's just as likely they will give him the money seeing as we're rolling in the cash and Ed loves a good muppet signing. We shall see, I guess. The lack of available talent this summer isn't really helping.

A month since @Sassy Colin started this thread and there's still no signings even remotely close.

Wtf
We don't know that, all we know is that there are no strong rumours right now.

Quite often these things happen without a long period of hype and links.

I'm quite enjoying the lack of a circus while hoping the club are working on sensible targets in a low-key manner.
