This. I'm coming round to thinking that'd be a hell of a combo actually.
You need 2 centre backs who are excellent in the air in our league.
Jones is decent, but just not tall enough to be dominant against giants. Bailly can be erratic, as can Rojo, while Lindelöf I think i'd beat in the air.
A decent sized mouse would beat him in the air.

Certain. Unless we move to a three, or mould him as a right back, it does look a most bizarre signing.
Although we fielded Evans for years who wasn't exactly a don of heading.

At least McGulliver will be a colossus in the air, if we do buy him.

65M in this day and age isn't surprising. Coming off the back of a fantastic world cup, only 25, a good, solid defender and English.

Liverpool paid 75M for Van Dijk because they lacked a leader.

If we pay 65M, it's because we lack a really good ball playing centre back.

Maguire for 65M is robbery...
If it were MacGuire, maybe it was just about right...

Mag Wire might also be a bit costly

If we value him at £65m and Leicester want £75m surely we'll negotiate something in between, or add ons to get it up there.

It's insane money really but whatever, who even gives a shit anymore

Micky guire will look like a steal in a years time when he has shot us to the title with his bullet head.

After we get all the headed goals bounced off his big head, we will be calling him "Big Mac"

Maguilini for £800m is outrageous. Bet he flops and we still start the Europa League final with Phil Jones.

Is he even among top 10 ball playing defenders in Europe? I'm not sure. Big fat no from me, but he's still better than our CBs.

Take a dump in the centre circle at Leicester’s training ground?
Ha ha. Well there’s probably stuff he can do before he gets to that. Publicly stating that he wants to join United, “handing in” a transfer request, refusing to play in friendlies or train, leave pre-season training to see his baby born, and so on.

We could have got him for 17m last year. We spent 30m on Lindelof, who looks very far from making it here still, and we're debating spending 65m on maguire.

Such terrible money management. So so poor...

I agree - Spurs are charging £75mil for Alderweireld as well and hes only got 1/2 years left on his contract, so we don't really have a choice.

I don't get it
If we start using hindsight, we probably have a big list of all good players we missed out on the cheap.
Almost like Wenger's "I was close to sign" XI.

I don't remember anyone going gaga over Maguire in last summer. I still don't understand what the hype is all about, but that's a different matter.

Manchester Evening News are now reporting that Leicester want £75 million for Maguire which may have just scared us away. To be fair I guess Leicester can ask what they want since he has 4 yrs left on his contract
Thank you for saving us Leicester.

I didn't get the analogy because I didn't insinuate were close to signing Maguire last summer.

I kinda liked him at Hull and thought we should sign him at the time over Lindelof who I had seen next to nothing of and was wary about due to the Portuguese league being inferior. A CB that looks good in bottom table EPL team, is usually a good CB for the EPL. But he is not a 65m defender for me. Quite frankly I don't think any of them are, so maybe the problem is with me rather than the price.

It's been clear for weeks that Leicester don't want to sell and it would take a massive bid to do so. Jose and Woody seriously need to converse on some alternatives if they haven't already
