The rest of the PL might oblige if we give them a share of what no doubt will be crazy high ticket income.

Conservative estimates of an average £200 per ticket and 80,000 people per match, so £16 million in ticket income.

Another few million for the matchday sponsor, etc.

You could be looking at half a billion over the season.
Huh?what?....where are you getting these “conservative” prices from?

I suggest United just close the Sir Bobby Charlton stand off completely, block off access and just give out red hard hats on matchday. Players too. Much less hassle

Given that your stadium was built 108 years ago, it seems self-evident that sooner or later it will need replacing, as distinct from simply upgrading bits of it.

So if not now, then when? In other words, when does a long-term perspective hold sway - including in terms of economics - over short-term fixes?
I don’t believe it needs replacing at all.
It needs upgrading but start from scratch elsewhere is a bit excessive if you ask me.

Considering friendlies around the world are often £100 onwards, an average of £200 for a league game is more than reasonable.

Don't forget that people are no expected to go watch every game on this "tour", but maybe a few in cities close to them.

Let’s just replace anything that’s 100 years old... my house was build in 1906, I must think about tearing it down sometime soon.

I don't think there is a single element of the stadium that is close to that old. The stadium has been renovated/upgraded countless times since then with the most recent massive overhaul in the 90s.

How much do you reckon we can get away with charging?
If it was done on a tour basis then I’m sure about £100 wouldn’t be impossible but £200 is simply too much,£100 is actually too much but in other countries you could get that.

I think it’s hypothetical anyway as I don’t see that happening for an entire season.

I'll give you a clue, the PL has capped away tickets at £30 and only the most expensive home tickets are upwards of £45-50.

Now, corporate and VIP tickets are another matter, but you can't have a crowd solely made up of corporates, it would kill the product the PL has built.

There's one bit that is supposed to be original; the old players' tunnel in the south stand. Even that has been altered over the years.

We are not going to spend the whole season on tour and charge everyone around the world the same price as in OT.

If we somehow play all 19 "home" PL matches around the world whilst OT is redeveloped, you can be sure we'd be charging a lot more.

Not saying it'll happen or it's a good idea.

WE are charging £100+ in friendly games in the US and Asia, charging 50% more for a EPL game seems reasonable.

Note that I said a £200 average, not £200 bottom price.

That’s not 50% more.
Yeah £200 average so some seats will cost more than that....honestly,it’s nonsense.

The South Stand was build in the 60s. That's what we want to replace.

The rest of the ground was all build post 1992.

Barca will be spending half billion on renovating Camp Nou, it makes you wonder how they can generate such vast amounts of money and obtain the best structural engineers to take on such a project when all we hear from United/Glazers 'oh it's difficult cuz of the railway line'.

I'm not fecking having that we need to outdo that and get the biggest stadium. 200,000 seater or bust!!

So you think GBP100 is very reasonable? And so local should pay a sucker price of 200? You must be an Arsenal fan, GBP 1000 season ticket is a bargain.

On this hypothetical tour of a season, "locals" are not expected to attend every game, and GBP100 has been the going rate, doesn't matter if I think it's reasonable...

The website is now updated (beta). Can we now start the Old Trafford? Or do we need to wait for Option 3 until we do something

Interesting to see how the bitters would react to seeing their ground sold out every fortnight.
How would season ticket holders be treated on derby day?
The away team would get the away allocation...

I can truly say that Old Trafford is fast becoming a relic compared to the best stadiums in Europe.
It is great to have history and prestige but there is a real need to get our stadium into the 21st century before we start the 22nd..

Could City refuse us to ground share? Considering it's owned by the council.

Genuine question. What would you rather have, our stadium right now with current ticket prices or a huge renovation with ticket prices doubling?

I’d rather stick to the first. I’m there to watch football and support my team. Not too bothered about the facilities.

After moving across the pond and seeing ticket prices for sports here, football ticket prices are cheap as chips!

Should renovate and jack up prices IMHO.

if we continue playing this boring football the board should consider putting on beds and a sleeping section...

FFS, our fans really are the masters at moaning about the most trivial shit.

Since I’ve moved to NAmerica I’ve seen how sports ticket prices are priced so so differently. Mates in Toronto are shocked when I tell them how much games to United cost (so low). Crappy tickets to crappy games (nba, nhl, mlb, etc) are like $150+!
Decent seats are actually $300-$400+!

That reminds me of a stadium tour I went on 18 months back. When coming out of the tunnel a glance to the right (Sir Bobby Charlton stand) I noticed weeds sticking out of the concrete by the first few rows.

The stadium is in need of an urgent upgrade as it now looks outdated.

To be fair, they do have a point though.
Anyone who genuinely thinks the painting schedule around the stadium of a billion dollar sports team is emblematic of some nefarious behind-the-scenes issue needs to get their head checked. One look at the guy I quoteds Twitter feed shows he's just a frustrated muppet who's angry because we haven't spunked £200 million on a shiny new player but if you want to jump into bed with him then that's entirely your prerogative.
