You'd be hopeful that this means someone is coming in to replace him.

Really like Mata as a player, but he is very difficult to fit into our eleven really.

Again just like with Rojo, why did we extend his contract just to end up looking to move him a few months later?

Offered or they inquired? Good player, but never really had a role he excels at during his time at United. I am awaiting our transfer business to explode, with numerous players joining and leaving, but takes us months to 'prepare bids'. So I'd best not hold my breath.

A swap deal involving Perisic on the cards or we just offered them Mata?

Hope it's true, but unlikely. Mata is a great bloke but not good enough for us, and on fairly substantial wages etc.

Mata's a nice guy, but honestly, he's a bit useless these days. A nice goal here or there, or a piece of skill, isn't enough at this level. You need to be producing game in and game out and he can't.

I love Mata but even I will admit he isn't a top top player anymore. He'll come on, do fine and maybe score a brace in one or two games. However, we should not be selling anybody right now unless we're 100% sure we can get a top draw replacement. Maybe it was a swap for Perisic?

To get more money, transfer fees? Just like Toby for example, buy now for 50 mil or wait until January for 25. Not sure if that's accurate but just as an example.

Would be a bizarre move on our part if we don't have a replacement coming.

By selling Mata the overall quality of our team would not be worse off. Lingaard, Sanchez, Martial and Rashford would perform at the same level as Mata has shown over the last 12 months as a bare minimum.
Think Mata has been offered to a number of clubs, and we are either trying to get funds to buy a RW or as part of a deal for an RW.
Regarding Perisic: Inter wants Balde Keita.

For his sake, I hope he leaves. He's an extrordinarly talented footballer, and its hard to dislike him even as a Liverpool fan. Just a stand up bloke - a far cry from the social media panzies who have taken over football these days.

The Italian league could suit him, and Inter are building a good team. Itcould work really well. United could perhaps work this in a deal for Perisic and give Mourinho the winger he desperately wanted last summer - though his desire to get Perisic and Willian is rather bizarre.

Would be completely moronic to allow him to leave unless we have someone like Perisic or Willian lined up.

Sadly not the player he once was but he might get a new lease of life in the slower and less physical Italian league. I think this move might good for both parties, so long as we have someone to bring in.

To play him if we don’t manage to sign another RW or to sell him if we do.

Mata out and Perisic in wouldn’t be a bad piece of business

More left wingers

 I’m not sold on Perisic being a savior like many others would have had you believe last season, but it’s not a stretch to imagine Perisic being a better option than mata on the right for me.

Even though he plays on the left at inter, he is right footed and a big part of his game is based around crossing, so he should in theory be a decent option there.

The bloated wages of our squad players almost guarantee we won't easily be finding buyers. Extending the likes of Rojo on 100k contracts isn't the way to recoup value. Our club know this and it's why I doubt they extended the contracts in blind hopes that someone will take these players.

If we get right winger to replace him then it's the right decision (depending on the replacement).

To be brutally honest he isn't even good enough for Inter, he'd be a bad signing for them unless they plan on having him as a squad option..

As much as I like Mata I don't think I can handle seeing another season of him on the right wing. And with Fred and Pogba (presumably) not to mention Lingard, Sanchez and Fellaini all preferable options to him in the centre, he just isn't going to get game time anywhere other than out wide.

If we offered him to another club it means we would have a replacement for him.

I am somehow beginning to feel Di Marzio is becoming less reliable. He has grown too much famous and is under pressure to put out a new breaking news every day. So he is putting out as much news as possible, even from his weak sources

Obviously we are doing this to try and get Perisic. Yes Perisic can play right wing but have people realised...Maybe he can play left win-back/left mid in a 3-5-2? Perisic can be our "left back" sorta if ya know what I mean.

I would have no problems with this with or without Perisic. In fact, just yesterday I was wondering what we are doing keeping Herrera, Mata & Shaw in the last years of their contracts. Next summer it'll be either them blackmailing us like Fellaini did this summer or they'll leave for free. Both of which are terrible situations for us.

In an ideal world, we would sell Mata and get Fekir, sell Shaw and get a replacement & extend Herrera's contract for a couple of season.

It makes sense, his legs are completely gone. I'm not sure if he'll be of any use this season.

After a depressing summer getting in Toby and Perisic (involving Mata) would be good business.

Yes Perisic is best from the left but also can put in a shift out the right which is much better than we've had since Nani was in form about 8-9 fecking years ago

Why would we try and offload him 2 days before our window closes?

would see it a win win for everyone, cant see him getting much game time this season, would start for Inter and a slower tempo league would suit him better. would imagine would save us a good amount on wages for a season as well.

It's a great plan to sell the only player in pre season who had any chemistry on the field with Sanchez. What can possibly go wrong.

Don't let Jose see that the Caf almost universally agree that Mata should leave, he'll start him every week and blame Martial for the poor results !
