Great signings tbf. That midfield is going to push Citys for the best in the league. Possibly better considering the ages. Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic looks perfectly balanced, all at very good ages and a great blend of creativity, dynamism, energy, and ability.

My biggest issue with them is their main striker and a few of the defenders. World class wingers, good depth up front but nobody who you would think should be a starter. Maybe batshuayi could be their best option their even. Turned out to be quite a good window though. With the time it takes to adapt to Sarri and plenty of younger players, can see them being top 3 but title challenge next season.

Looks like there may be one more twist in the transfer window

Respectable Chelsea Journalists are saying that Batshuayi is in talks for a loan to Sevilla currently, and that if he did go we will sign another attacker.. Martial/Zaha/Fekir

Interesting to see how this unfolds with such little time left now

Di Marzio is saying Valencia interested in him as well, he's another who's developing and needs to play. If Morata is fit and starting most games, and we've got Giroud as well, then probably makes sense for him to move to play.

I agree but I would've wanted to see him stay this year and Morata to go as I had more faith in the former atm.

Exciting to see who we get if he does go however, most likely Fekir

Courtois is a disgrace. Hope Chelsea get it sorted.
So agree very unprofessional. He’s not the only one tbh, footballers are a disgrace they sign a contract which means nowt if they decide they want to move on. I love football but the conduct of footballers is turning me off it slowly, they are paid a fortune but k a week and it’s still not enough. They should try getting a real job on 25/30k a year then they will know have us fans feel.

“We have tonight agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Thibaut Courtois, subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical. As part of the deal, Mateo Kovacic will join Chelsea on a season-long loan.”

What can I expect from Kovacic? Any premier league players with a simliar style?
Lots of dribbling and running the ball from deep, lots of tackling, tidy passing. Mousa Dembele would not be a bad comparison.

Maybe Oxlade Chamberlain, when he's playing centrally.

I have no doubt even that ninja turtle looking dude is doing ok. Different rules for famous footballers. I've seen Peter Crouch's wife in real life!
Yeah, I bet Shaqiri's other half looks like Margot Robbie or someone in that bracket.

Does anyone know if the Kovacic loan includes an option to buy?

I think no but it doesn't really matter. If he likes London and Chelsea he will push even more next season for a move and Real won't keep unhappy player.
Anyway our midfielders situation: First team: Kovacic, Kante, Jorginho. Bench: Fabregas, RLC and Barkley.
And what is funny Bakayoko and Drinkwater fourth and fifth most expensive players in Chelsea history are now option number 7 and 8 in our midfield.

Oh of course. If only we could swap Kante or Jorginho for him.

Seriously though, I did want him as a replacement for Moses as right wing-back, thought he would be great there.
I think that's what the club told him and he went on to reject Chelsea's offer. Liverpool offered him a midfield spot.

My ideal XI would be this with Azpi more of a defensive right back and Emerson the attacking. Kante on the left to provide more cover for Hazard and Emerson.

Bench: Willy, Alonso, Luiz, Barkley, RLC, Willian, Giroud

-----Kepa----
--Azpi--Christensen--Rudiger--Emerson
---Kovacic---Jorginho--Kante
--Pedro---Abraham--Hazard

in attack would shift to something like. Have Emerson use the space with Hazard cutting inside, Kante as a ball winner pushing up higher. Jorginho dropping and dictating play.

--------Kepa--------
-------Christensen-----Rudiger
-Azpi------Jorginho---------------
-------------------------Kante-----Emerson
---Kovacic--------------Hazard
Pedro-----Abraham-------------

Tammy is not even close to Chelsea quality yet. Honestly not even sure he's Premier League quality yet.

Simon Johnson said this morning there was an option to buy Kovacic but I think he was wrong unfortunately.

Apparently some super reliable Spanish journalists have confirmed that there isn't. A shame, but we'll worry about that next summer.

I wanted United to buy him rather than fred. Think he has world class potential
Aye, potential is everything he has. He will fail badly in the PL, unfortunately.
I still don't see us as challengers for Top 4 this season. There are simply too many question marks with regard to our defense and attack. Courtois leaving, is a bad blow that will cost us.

Kovacic is one of those players who is called potentially "world class" inspite of him not showing indication of that whatsoever.
