AFAIK he's not the director of football there and has never worked that role before.Done a cracking job at Ajax. Knows Utd as a club and is well respected in the game. Ticks all the boxes for me.

I didnt say he was the DOF at Ajax. I said he had done a great job there. Always carries himself well and has a lot of professionalism.AFAIK he's not the director of football there and has never worked that role before.
It’s Michael Emenalo as of November last year. He was with Chelsea for 10 years.Just saw some tweet about how Monaco bought 41 million worth of players and sold them for cca 310 millions profit. So I thought this guy at Monaco could be good for us. Maybe. Not to sell of course! No idea what his name is. To lazy to look for it.
Wouldn't it be the guy before him? If he bought and sold 41 players in less than a year I'd be impressed....It’s Michael Emenalo as of November last year. He was with Chelsea for 10 years.
Why would you want that nice guy to be stuck in between Ed who clearly calls the shots and prob will do even after he rushes through this made up position (to take the recent flack of himself)......and Mou, who will forever detest and call out the DoF just as he has Ed....the actual DoF at united...do you follow.....I think VDS would be a great shout.
He has done a good job at Ajax and he has past experience working at Old Trafford and would fit in well/
Wouldn't that be the same Luis Campos in the Ciaran Kelly article we were talking about?Just saw some tweet about how Monaco bought 41 million worth of players and sold them for cca 310 millions profit. Someone else seems to think that’s a great idea.
Had no idea, wasn't reading thread, sorry, but saw that tweet and liked the idea having that guy at United, not for seling player tho.Wouldn't that be the same Luis Campos in the Ciaran Kelly article we were talking about?

Why would Monchi not happen? It's not like trying to buy Neimar or Mbappe, where we need to cough up 200M+. The Dof position is just a job in the club, if we offer him more money and a career step up (which Man United is, compared to most other clubs), then it's definitely a realistic option and not just a fantasy. Probably we would need to pay just a few million for the breach of contract fine to bring him in - that's nothing.Someone like him would be ideal, especially since the fantasy picks like Monchi won't happen.
Looks like we're going to be making younger signings our priority. The successful candidate will be charged with restructuring United's already sizeable scouting network, building a new philosophy at the club, where players aren't bought at the top of their value.
They'll go for who they deem has the best looking CV (just like targeting galatico's). In this case it might actually workHave zero trust in the board that they will hire the best candidate for this club. They rarely see the full picture.
Yeah seems very good from the sky article.Paul Mitchell sounds very promising IMO. Sounds like he has the right kind of credentials to put a very good system in place.
Yehhh sign him up! NO! he doesn't have a clue about that role, so why would he be a good choice?I didnt say he was the DOF at Ajax. I said he had done a great job there. Always carries himself well and has a lot of professionalism.
If they go for a DoF who embraces what Manchester United is all about. Attacking football with a mix of exciting youth and world class players who have a winning mentality then yeah welcome to that person. They'll go for who they deem has the best looking CV (just like targeting galatico's). In this case it might actually work
Had no idea! Pleased for him. Had he been able to stay fit Saha could've been something really, really special for United. For the people that want and ex-United player, that is Saha's field. He became a agent-consultant for athletes.
He was the one that identified Njie & Nkoudou wasn't he? They have proved to be huge huge flops at Spurs.I remember hearing about Paul Mitchell when he left the saints to rejoin poch at Spurs. He was the one who scouted Dele Ali if I remember correctly.
A DOF who wants attacking football and a manager who sets his teams up like Mourinho....Sounds pretty harmonious to me...Can we get someone with a blueprint for attacking football and a consistent united style in mind please.
I think VDS would be a great shout.
He has done a good job at Ajax
Did you know that in january Van der Sar tied his future at Ajax to the success of the newly appointed manager? Saying he'll resign if things don't work out. That's not because things have been going so well at Ajax. If Ajax doesn't win the league this season he's out. He's not that well liked among Ajax supporters in his current role. They haven't won the league in 4 seasons and there was alot of drama last season. First around the departure of Peter Bosz. Then when the new manager and Bergkamp got sacked. And also the whole Nouri situation, which was handled very poorly.I didnt say he was the DOF at Ajax. I said he had done a great job there. Always carries himself well and has a lot of professionalism.
Corrected this for you."The successful candidate will be charged with restructuring United's already sizeable scouting network, building a new philosophy at the club, where players aren't bought at the top of their value."
Looks like we're going to be makingyoungercheaper signings our priority.
I interpreted players not at the "top of their value" to indicate younger players.Corrected this for you.
Well I was being slightly facetious, but the two are of course linked.I interpreted players not at the "top of their value" to indicate younger players.
If one was to be cynical about it, you might say that is it better to have everyone speculating about United's potential future DoF, than to have them focusing on the failings of our current de facto DoF this past summer...The question is, why have we decided to do this now?
To me, it seems like a pretty clear sign of Jose leaving in the near future. He was the last throw of the dice at the traditional "the manager controls everything" method. Now for some reason, they're not so sure about Mourinho, and are putting things in place for the future.
"Some of the options for Chelsea to consider are FA technical director Dan Ashworth, who is understood to be interested in a return to club football, former players Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack, and Monchi – the director of football at Roma....Tweet

I'd be happy with that.As we all know there are many rumours over last few years of Poch becoming our coach but it looks like it is finally happening if we appoint Paul Mitchell as the director football that has worked with Poch at Southampton and Spurs... I think United probably have a vision for the future.

Manchester United have identified the FA's technical director Dan Ashworth and RB Leipzig's head of recruitment Paul Mitchell as potential candidates for the role of technical director at Old Trafford
