This is probably in line with how berserk Pepe went against Getafe back in 2009 and he was banned for like 10 games. In fact, this could even be worse as he not only spat on the guy but on the guy's mouth...

Can't even watch the replays of it without feeling a bit sick.

How are the press and pundits in Italy about such a thing. In England the media, pundits seem to push for harsh penalties for such a things. Is it the same over there? Any Italians comments on the backlash on that?
Seen as foreplay over there.

Joke. What a dirty bastard. Wouldn't have had a problem with the other guy chinning him.

I remember Johnny Evans and Papiss Cisse get 6 games each for spitting. I wonder if Costa will get more.

Let's not be too quick judging Costa here. Who knows what the other guy said/did to him. Some insults can get very personal sometimes. If i was black and another player called me a monkey or something I'd probably break his nose on the spot instead of spitting though.

Again another assuming it's a racist comment because he is black. Which you guys would crawl back in your f*kin holes with your pre historic judgements

one of the things I hate about football

that Sassulo player should be well within his rights to make a boy of Costa in the tunnel and give him a right few digs

unfortunately you have to be a victim or you'll get a ban yourself - the game is far too sanitised in some situations

absolutely disgusting from Costa

You have to be an hypocrite or very social unaware if you don't consider a racist remark as most probably insult on a black player. He's not particularly ugly nor fat so can't see how else he would get so pissed.

Not sure how I'd react to someone doing that to me. Super disgusting.

Fist to face is the only answer, I can tolerate a lot but if anyone ever spits at me never mind in my mouth then they’d be on the floor before they knew what hit them.

In the interest of balance I'd like to hear what was said to cause that reaction, but regardless it's disgusting.

I hope Neville brings it up with Carragher tomorrow on MNF.

The other bloke done well not to react in a fit of rage after that
This.

I don’t mean to come across as a keyboard warrior or condoning violence however in a competitive sporting environment with adrenaline pumping, it’s very surprising the other player didn’t react!

Don’t suppose this could be an UEFA ban rather than domestic and Costa could potentially miss the UCL tie(s)?

Still amazed how that guy was still able to control himself. Me, I will punch costa face even if I will be suspended/fined.

Yeah, I'd floor him. 5 game ban probably, no more, given the disgraceful level of disgusting provocation and you'd essentially be a **** figure among fans of all teams.

Saliva can carry infectious viruses that cause glandular fever. Also, poor hygiene makes it less sterile. What if D.Costa doesn't brush his teeth for all we know? He seems brainless enough.

He threw an elbow in someone’s face after the spit. I think he lost it.

Huge ban incoming surely?

In his statement on Instagram he says sorry to the Juve fans but doesn’t even say sorry to the player he spat on.

Hey, it’s the guy who gets offended at suspicion of racism. Surely he doesn’t feel targeted himself, does he?

Get real, it’s far from the realm of impossibility that racism may be involved, especially in Serie A.
