Anybody else hoping that the Paul Pogba Show is making things seem worse than they are. We’ve definitely been patchy and results disappointing but take away the Paul Pogba Show for a minute and at least in the bad results we’ve seen glimpses of what we haven’t seen last season , with the exception of Brighton.

Should we win this weekend we will be in the range of 4-6 Pts off city, pool, Chelsea. With city and pool playing next weekend.

It’s a shame about the circus because a half decent run will keep us in contention or interested at least when November/December comes

I would expect a comfortable 2-0 win but don't know if the players are going to turn up

Moyes left them last season. Pellegrini is their manager now.
Pellegrino was a good manager and West Ham used to have a lot of energy. I think we will do very well to get a win.
I hope Pogba isn't in the team but expect mourino will play him to demonstrate that he is still loved after his humiliation.

The thing about the Pogba circus is that he's been one of our best players. Secondly, this was supposed to be our easy run, the fixtures get much tougher from next month. Third, we can't even Claim to be unlucky. We haven't played well and with everything going on, it's hard to think we'll suddenly start playing well.
Lastly, when last did we even go on a winning run?

I don’t think we’ve been unlucky. I’m drawing on hope that at least this season it has appeared we are trying to move in some direction with a playing style which isn’t going to happen overnight. In our last 3 we have won 2 and drawn 1 it’s not a catastrophe. Win this week and v Newcastle and we’ve taken 13 from 15 in our ‘easy run’ which could be better of course but is hardly bad. I personally think that if we do get the next two wins we’re more likely to beat Chelsea or get more from the big games.

Pogba will be involved in the starting 11 or on the bench.
If he''s on the bench I expect him to be showing his disapproval by aggressively dabbing away in the corner of the United changing room.

    Mourinho's 1st season.

We won 6 games in a row in December and January, which came in a spell of 25 games in a row unbeaten. 12 of them were draws though, but it's still a better run than the following season, and we look even worse now.

Winning 6 in a row now would be miraculous.

The season is a right off already. I'd honestly take a loss if it meant replacing Jose the week after.

At least then a new manager could bed in their ideas/tactics for a full season.
Jose won't be fired anytime soon.
He is still in Woodward's good graces and Woodward needs a good manager who can consistently guarantee top 4, without spending much. Jose can definitely achieve this.

If Jose does get fired, he'll have to take us to 15th place or below at by Christmas. As long as we are hovering near 4th place, he will remain.
If he can no longer achieve 4th place (mathematically), he'll get fired - just as LVG and Moyes were chopped, before him.

The only reason Jose neck is not on the chopping block is that apart from Liverpool/City and Chelsea everyone else is inconsistent.

The players should be embarrassed we are sitting at the middle of the table. That should be the only focus point around the club at the moment. That embarrassment should be motivation to turn all this around and win the league. That is how we used to function. What is it going to be? Smash West Ham or more of the Pogba nonsense...
You are right with everything you said.
But if Jose comes down heavy on the players, can you imagine the revolt? Pogba will lead it, players would down tools and Jose will be fired.
I really do think it's ridiculous that it has come down to this. The manager can't even discipline his players without the threat of being fired.
IMO player power is currently destroying us. At least at Chelsea, the players do turn up 1 out of every 2 years. Our players don't ever turn up.

A public backing is usually the worst thing you can get..

He was backing Van Gaal all the way while he knew he was already talking to another manager.
I do agree with you (normally), but the backing which Woodward made, was to the investors.
Woodward may leak things to the press, but when it comes to the money-men - he won't mess them around. He won't say to them that Jose is doing a fantastic job, to then fire him a month later.
Whatever happens, Jose will be staying this season. What happens in the Summer, is anyone's guess.

It's kinda sad that this thread has hardly any posts compared to all the other crap that's going on at the moment. Sometimes I forget there's even a game to be played at all.

It's reached the stage that the media circus behind the scenes is more interesting to people than the football being played.

All this game will be about is Pobga and Jose , we could win 10 nil and thats all this game will be about.
Hate the media circus around United right now, its not good for the players , the club or the fans.
Pogba will play and he will do feck all , then all the press will be on about is how he does not want to play for Jose and he needs to be sacked to get the best out of him, bollocks I say to that, they have both been here 2 year and we have not seen the best out of either of them.
Bench Pogba, send Jose to the stands and let Carrick be in charge of the game, but that would make the press even worse.

If Mourinho drops Pogba and we lose then the shitstorm will only grow despite the fact I think we are quite capable of losing this game even if he plays and even if he plays well.

If Pogba plays and sulks his way through the match he'll be the the bad guy so if he does play hopefully he plays with the attitude of showing his worth regardless of if he hates the manager.

In truth it feels like we are practically in a no-win situation with this story right now.

I agree that he's been good the last 3 games and was good in the first game, but the last week of hate he has gotten for his comments coupled with the public way Mourinho stripped him of a Captaincy we wouldn't have known he'd lost for another week or more makes me wonder how he'll react.

To be fair, I wouldn't mind the off-the-pitch shenanigans, if we were battering teams 4-0.
In fact, I think I'd like to have seen Pogba vs Jose headlines, while we were spanking opponents. "Pogba wants out, Jose says NO, West Ham spanked 5-1!"
It would've made for box office and given us top billing every weekend.
The problem is that we aren't playing well, right now. Jose really needs to get this ship back on course. Many people, including myself, are beginning to (or already) doubt his ability as an elite level manager.

You don’t achieve what Jose has achieved without being an elite level manager. He’ll go down as one of the greatest managers ever, regardless of what happens from now onwards.

We are in dire need of a good result and a good performance against WH. Hopefully, the travesty of the Derby game and the media pressure will see the boys coming out ready to prove a point.

Would anybody else love it if Arnautovic ripped us to shreds?

Mourinho clearly wanted him and it would be sweet justice for Mourinho if he ripped Woodward's defence to pieces. I imagine he'd have a wry smile on his face and I know many United fans would be the same.

You're here again. Why would a right minded fan love a player ripping us to shreds?

    Long term gain.

We're not winning the league again until Woodward and the Glazers go so if any right minded fan as you put it should be putting his or her energies into that instead of worrying about a dead rubber against West Ham.

Feeling very deflated after the last two games and the whole media circus surrounding the club but, where there's Fellaini there's hope :)

Is Rashford back for this one?

    Rashford is eligible for selection.

I would like to see us drop Lukaku for this one but we know that won't happen. I would like Dalot to start, but we know that won't happen. I would like... oh never mind.

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Fred Matic Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez

Expect the same shit as before. Fellaini comes on in the 70th and we start long balling it.

Yeah am sure jose would love getting smashed by arnie at west ham.
    That'd really prove him right

"You wouldn't buy me arnie, with him We'd have been the best team ever" on the way to the job centre

But he backed Van Gaal too.

In fact he has a history of doing that with managers.

The fact that he didn't back him in the market and even briefed why speaks greater volumes.

Woodward just wants Jose to last the season so they can shake hands and call it a day (metaphorically speaking). Mutual consent after 2 trophies and consecutive CL qualifications looks better for Woodward than a sacking.

But it will be interesting to see what Woodward does if the situation spirals out of control. Continue this form and we will be 10-12 points behind 4th spot by January.

Why is there no reports of the squad for this? Surely the team will have travelled down either by plane or train and will have been pictured.
