Finally watched fight in full. Total domination, Khabib completely nullified Conor when he wanted to and was Conor's equal when he stood in front and traded with him, even knocking him down.

This was one of those soul taking fights, interested to see how Conor bounces back from this. I know he has a reputation of tapping easily but it just looked like he gave up. The choke was over the chin , and although i am sure it hurt, he didnt have any fight in him to try and at least wriggle out. It might have ended up Khabib getting it round his neck but at least he would have shown the desire.
Wasn't a choke, was a neck crank. Extremely painful. Looked a RNC on camera though, Conor actually lasted awhile considering the pressure imho.

Latest i heard, he signed back with WWE, to go fight in Saudi Arabia.

If he eventually fights DC, it's probably gonna happen February/March.
He has but the way Brock is dropping muscle mass I’d wager he is currently undergoing the USADA testing so that he can compete. It’s very very noticeable how much he has lost.

So probably just getting that little bit extra cash whilst he is going through it, before winding up for a camp.

yeah maybe, and DC is doing the right thing too by being active and fighting The Black Beast, so when he does eventually fight Brock, no one can complain he is taking the easy/money fights, coming from defeating the number 1 contender.

I’m sure when it all came about it was said that he has to go through a 6 month testing period so it was always going to take till February or March.
Which would have left DC and two divisions out in the lurch for a while so he was always going to fight someone, thought it would have been at 205 but Lewis would be an intresting fight, It puts the LHW division in a bit of a mess.

Pretty sure they're stripping DC of LHW, the title will go to the next Jones fight.

Aldo tweeting out a challenge for McGregor to rematch. I'm all in for that.

yeah, DC already said that the UFC wants him to vacate one of his belts, so if it were to be the LHW, then Jones vs Gus 2 probably gonna be a title fight, bringing back order to the division. (Dominique Reyes asking to be the "back-up fighter" for that fight)

I always get confused when folk attack Khabib (usually fans of McGregor’s schtick, mind) for lacking the ability to self-promote both himself and fights, and he’s got ‘no game’ in the mental warfare stakes. He’s speaking English as a second language, ffs! I always thought he’d be far more fluent and witty if these press conferences took place in his native tongue. That ‘eagles can’t be caged’ is legitimately one of the best lines I’ve ever heard from a sportsman. So simple, so effective and masterfully delivered.

I don’t think Lewis stands a chance against Cormier, does he? Less than a month away and his cardio wasn’t all that last weekend. Way too soon (for any fighter imo) to be in a cage again.

On paper it wouldn't seem so although there's no way for DC to plan for getting punched in the jaw by Lewis. If he connects then it could be over quickly. Also, DC's wrestling would be a bit difficult to pull off given that Lewis will be a good 30 pounds heavier.

That would depend on how long he even wants to stay in the fight game. He could be thinking one or two more money grabs and out. If that's the case, he's hardly going to change anything unless these losses are actually touching his soul and bothering him. It's ironic really given all the schtick he used to give about being a 'true martial artist' where others in the UFC are not, well, Conor, part of being that is living a clean and disciplined life with focus only on martial arts, none of which he's doing.

I asked in here before the fight whether he'd have the true heart to put in when he's already minted; I don't think he has, but it'll be great if this loss actually burns him and makes him want to prove himself rather than just rack up sacks of money whilst he's still hot property.
Yeah i'm hoping he still has enough hunger to get back to his best, theres a load of fights i still want to see him in. Holloway rematch being the main one, i hope his next fight isn't the Khabib rematch as i think it would likely go the same way. He should have a few more fights at 155 first and earn the title shot this time before fighting Khabib again.

Yeah, that's a brilliant line really. I was thinking about it and I think if the UFC is smart Khabib could be marketed better than Conor. A real life bad ass is really a more compelling person than a WWF bad boy character. If UFC was smart they will find an angle where Khabib doesn't have to be some trash talker to market well.

Wasn't DC's hand fecked up from the Stipe fight?

Also, is there any chance Lewis won't be cleared to fight a month after his previous one? Or would that have been sorted by now?

I think its diabolical that Lewis is fighting so soon again after that slugfest. There should be a minimum rest period applicable to all fighters post fight. Not sure what that should be but more than 1 fecking month, that's for sure. The Ufc is a joke.

Conor suspended 'on medical grounds'? Popping up on my breakfast TV ticker tape. What?
Along with about 10 other fighters from the weekend. It's a standard thing. He was limping a good bit after the fight and also had that cut below his eye. I imagine it's because of the leg though.

It reeks of Bisping vs. Gastelum for me...albeit Lewis won his fight he did take some damage. He lost every round pretty easily.

I think the UFC has pretty much bullied him into it. Either fight for the title now or never so he's got no choice if he wants his shot.

Valentina vs Joanna back on for UFC 231.
I can see her point but she was scheduled for a fight vs. Jessica Eye and pulled out of that and I doubt she had much sympthay for Eye. She also should be no where near a title shot. Don't get me wrong it's shitty by the UFC and stuff but I doubt many people can say hand on heart they're pissed off they're getting Valentina vs. Joanna over Eubanks.

The fact they put it on ticker made it look like something else. First thing I saw when I woke up, so I thought something had happened overnight. Turns out McGregor's name is big enough for them to use as clickbait.

Quitter McGregor taps again.

Guy is in zero danger, and taps to a neck crank. Yea, it hurts, but it isn't going to put you to sleep. Conor did relatively well in the first round negating Khabib, but the guy doesn't have a warriors spirit.
Umm, no shame in tapping. Better not to have a broken jaw or worse, a broken neck.

DC handled rumble bombs twice and Volkan. Explosive fighters with non existant gas tanks is his bread and butter.

Arrogant Roided long limbed wrestler kickboxer is another story.

Lewis is 70 pounds heavier than Rumble so DC won't be able to simply shoot on him because he wont be able to deal with all the extra weight.

I agree it's a joke. However I doubt DC takes on a Stipe fight on really short notice. I think he's only accepted it cos Lewis isn't exactly a great fighter.

What's happened to Brock btw? Has anything been confirmed with him?
