don't care. the sport is increasingly split into the few teams that can win and everyone else. doesn't bother me how those few teams get the money they spend to blow everyone else out of the water.

Usually teams win more than others due to them simply having more support. That is the origin of sport. More support= more money.

Oil clubs ran by the wealth of nations is majorly different.

Ironically, City fans boo the CL anthem because they think that UEFA is stopping them from winning it. Turns out, UEFA has helped their artificial growth.

This was obvious to everyone.

Their fans are thick as feck, they should be cheering UEFA at every opportunity.

FFP is a joke to begin with. Have rules on what the clubs can spend on transfers, salaries and agent fees. Any club who circumvents these rules should be banned from competition for five years or so. Monetary fines are useless when you have resources of a nation backing a football club.

This is not surprising. Not at all. That's why I dislike the petroclubs.

Nothing is gonna happen though. They know they're untouchable.

Great scoop. I think both City and PSG should have an Infantino stand in their stadiums.

More than anything, I hope this is curbed properly before United end up being bought by some murderous regime.

City can have all their titles with their oil money, they've assembled a great team and have probably the best manager on the planet but it's hard to be envious given the context..

I'd love to see those emails.

I'd also love to see proof of what Get French Football News claims too...

If there's actual evidence of bribery then they're done. There can't be any other way.

Why though? You blindly support Citys unreleased sponsorship figures without proof?

100% agree, if there are evidence and we're found guilty then the owners should be booted out and the club appropriately punished.

The English media will stay quiet on this and carry on talking about Jose.

Exactly, and the fines handed out would be like a 10 pence fine to an average person.

Because the onus is on the prosecution no? Innocent until proven guilty. For what its worth, they were deemed fair by the powers that be so why would I doubt it? Why would I doubt it even now. If we are proven guilty then as I said the punishment should be very severe, if we're proven innocent then we should take the reporters to the cleaners. Football leaks is also a very dubious website (though they do have access to accurate info usually).

Either way I'm looking forward to how this plays out, its gonna be one hell of a shitstorm

This is pretty frightening

Club lawyer Simon Cliff wrote in an email that Mubarak had told Infantino that he rejected the idea of a possible monetary penalty. "Khaldoon said he would rather spend 30 million on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue them for the next 10 years."

UEFA probably didn't want to fight that because that's exactly what these Gulf states would do. It would cost UEFA too much.

That's why people want State owned clubs like that to be impossible in our game. Once they're in bed, they're hard to kick out.

Football as a whole should have done more when it started to occur.

By next week it'll all be forgotten.

Very rich and powerful people who can afford to use the legal system to bog down any investigation for decades if they want.

Good read but nothing we didn't know before. Both City and PSG are the worst things to happen to football ever. City bought the PL in 2012 and because they are bribing everyone and everything, nothing will be done.

Journalists are afraid to speak on it too. There will be little investigation into this.

And they should imho. It's a very big revelation against a couple of very powerful owners, if its legit fair play to them and I'll be the first in line to take shots at whats happened at City and PSG (albeit I still believe owners who put money in are better than those who take money out), if not someone has made some powerful enemies.

I'd imagine to release something like this someone has some water tight evidence and a whole lot more than Infantino sending emails trying to be polite.

Either way its super interesting to me and obviously huge to the future of City, if it does come out as true, the club could be in bigger trouble than losing the owners and banned from FFP, we could literally end up with a ton of players to pay and no cash and serious financial trouble. Either way I'll take it on the chin like I did with every other way the club managed to feck up throughout my lifetime.

Quelle fecking surprise. The thing is, there's nothing that anyone who cares can really do about it. Money will just go through everyone and everything. It's all a bit shit.

Yeah, it should have. But the organisations are all corrupt. There needs to be legislation that is consistent across Europe (or those wanting to participate in the CL) that is transparent with clear and severe penalties. It needs to take into account that it is up against bottomless financial resources so it must avoid at all costs being strangled in courts over years and years. It's not a missed opportunity, it can happen if the political will is there.

And to think those City fans boo the CL anthem when their legal staff celebrate the death of a principled people within the game, threaten to destroy UEFA if they're not allowed to illegally build their teams and when the corrupt leaders of those footballing organisations are in their pocket. Truly beyond pathetic.

Like I said, I dont care. That's just a justification that I find unconvincing. A healthy sport has more than a couple teams capable of winning.

This has been evident for a while. Not sure what exactly will change when the supposed regulators are the very people whom are in bed with the perpetrators?

The Sarkozy stuff is mental though. Maybe falls into Interpol territory.

About as surprising as finding out that Dale Winton was gay.

Mundo Deportivo (Barcelona-based sports paper) did a piece today saying that City put together a €750m package for Messi at the end of 2016, split evenly between transfer fee, wages and signing-on bonus.

Barca, unsurprisingly, had to pay Messi a ridiculous amount to resign, and it's placed them dangerously close to financial ruin.

That's the real cost of the oil money: great clubs like Barca being pushed towards bankruptcy by clubs that have contributed nothing to the history of the sport.

To be fair, nothing will come of any of this. If only ‘Football Leaks’ are leading this fight, then they are painted as vigilante conspiracy theorists, whether right or not. I can’t see the people who matter touching this, as there will be fingerprints of a lot of friends all o er it.
