While he has a chance of making top 4 and is still in the CL, he will remain MUFC manager.
It's funny because many on here though he'd be fired 2 months back. Then 6 weeks back. Then 4 weeks back. Then 2 weeks back, etc. Now, they are predicting he will be sacked tonight if he we lose.

My prediction: On the day we exit CL. So, I'd say Feb/March.

Tonight is the breaking point. Arsenal will smash us by at least 3 playing lovely football. Old Trafford will revolt.

2026.

After two more years of Pep's dominance, we finally break them and win the double in 2020, followed by a second place in 2021 but with a CL final win over Milan who are coached by Pep and funded with Chinese gold money.

We win two more titles with Arsenal getting two as well.

He leaves in 2026 to go back to Inter.

If this was true, I think I'd keep him.
Sadly, at this current time, I don't see us winning the title in 18 months.

Not until his replacement is available. I think we will stick with him for a while. I honestly dont think he will even be sacked in January.

I think people hoping he will be sacked after tonight will be left disappointed. He won't get the boot after losing to Arsenal. Just my thoughts, hope I'm wrong.
I just think because they are our top 4 competition and could be 11 points away from them if we lose, would put top 4 in jeopardy. May be completely wrong of course!

When top 4 is mathematically impossible.

They will try to keep things cordial as possible and probably have some thin hope of a dogged CL run. Jose is at least capable of canceling out opposition teams.

Things could get really bitter, especially if no new players come in Jan.

If we hit some relegation form then the club will have to bite the bullet and pay him off. I don't think it will come to that. Should be a 6th-11th finish.

18th March 2018.

We'll already be out of the CL and City will have just smashed us at Old Trafford

Until then, it's going to be a long 4 months.

Surprised you think we will still be in the race for top 4 come March.

Lose tonight and he will be gone by the morning.

Even if we are out of contention for top4. We will stick with him cause of Ch.L. I reckon he'll get the boot if we lose the first leg of the last 16 matches. Especially if we get beaten like 4-1 or something

I'm more going off the back of how we justified getting rid of Moyes and LVG. We surely put clauses in our managers' contracts for that - Jose will be the same.
Sad way to set up longterm success at a club. The reality is fire him today, get someone else in and give the club, fans and players a lift. Maybe, just maybe we could go on a run and still be there or there abouts for Champions league contention.

When 4th place is mathematically out of reach, which no doubt will trigger a reduced payoff clause.

Unless when he renewed, Jose managed to have such a clause removed; which wouldn't be surprising. Idiotic, but not surprising.

As soon as top 4 becomes mathematically impossible. We did the same with Moyes & LvG so that appears to be the board endorsed mandate.

Oh we won't be, but it won't be mathematically impossible until around then I think.

I wish I held your optimism.

For the first time ever I hope we lose and badly tonight so that we may get rid of him sooner. Now if not tomorrow, every defeat brings us closer.

Post Liverpool. We’re going to take 1-3 points from our next three matches.

I have tickets for Cardiff v Man Utd game on 22nd December, I do not envisage Jose being in charge for that game

I believe we have reached a point now where every game is make or break for Jose. He's lost the players, they're simply going through the motions at this stage and it shows in their performances on the pitch. Ed witnesses this every week because he attends the games more often than not. I mean, how much more of this shite is he prepared to accept before he finally pulls the trigger?

I noticed a smallish section of the United faithful were booing during the Southampton match due to the diabolical showing from the team. Another similarly tumescent performance against top 4 rivals Arsenal could be the turning point for not only the match going fans but the board too.

This deluded board are probably thinking we'll win the Champions League with Mourinho in charge.

Depressing. And I mean that.

If we have to watch four more months of this shit show it will be a truly miserable season.

Depends on if there really is a clause in his contract that allows us to get rid of him for less if we fail to make top 4, if there is then we'll probably try to drag it out until that clause activates.

The problem is that if that clause does exist then I can see Mourinho doing everything in his power to force the board to get rid of him before it kicks in so he doesn't have to take that financial hit. Realistically he already knows top 4 is all but gone so what's his motivation to keep fighting? if he keeps the team chugging along until mathematically we can't make it then he gets sacked and loses a chunk of cash but if he tanks our performances and acts out constantly from now on then he gets sacked early and gets a nice big payout, if anything it's in his financial interest to force the board into getting rid of him sooner rather than later. The only way he'd put his all into getting the best from the team from now on would be if he genuinely believes he can turn us around (which I doubt) or because of professional pride (more likely but does it outweigh the financial incentive?).

Dont really get this argument at all tbh, and yet it is mentioned by everyone. Let's say we sack him today and pay him what 15-20m compensation. Alternatively let's say we do in fact miss out on Champions League football I am sure the economic impact of that will be more than the payout to Jose. Doesn't the addidas deal also have something in there that if we dont qualify for Champions league the sponsorship goes down
Yeah tell that to Woody, I don’t think anyone wants him to stay till then.

But with our inept board, that’s probably how it will go down. I have very little hope of us winning anything until we get the entire structure of the club sorted.

I think some time in January, after we do miserably in the Christmas fixtures and go 10th or something. If Arsenal humiliate us today (6-1 or so), probably that might happen by this weekend. Probably we will see Jose brawl with players in dressing room before he gets the sack :D:D

If we lose emphatically tonight, I think there's a chance. It's a strange feeling hoping for a loss but it's the shortest route to progress right now.

He will most likely be sacked only after we are mathematically out of the top 4.

But the question is, would we give him funds in the January window? This could be a grave mistake and more waste of money.
