Never like to see anyone sacked but with the huge pay out he is going to get who the feck cares. Good riddance.

F'ing hell. See you all same time, same place in 18 months to 2 years discussing the next managerial failure? I can't honestly see much changing unless the club mechanisms that saw Moyes appointed and all the bad decisions since then changes ...
You are probably right.

I mean Chelsea have a culture of changing the manager but the whole setup is not a mess and they can still succeed. We need to create that kind of structure first.

Now i can enjoy Christmas :)

Cant wait for Saturday's game against Cardiff.

I just hope whoever takes over plays decent football.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Old thread, but bump.

No matter what, Woodward shouldn't be in charge of the next hire. Doesn't matter if we wait half a season for a good DoF and lose games under Carrick, I don't want another big CV byt no fit manager. I'd like to see some vision behind the next hire, and his signings, and his brand of football.

Take some time, and fix the system first. There have been enough band-aid solutions, now attend to the fracture. I'd like the first game of 2019/20 to start with an exact idea of what our goals for the season are and how we're gonna achieve them, using which players and playing what sort of football.

Mou's gone. Ball in your court, Ed.

We will regret this.
We went backwards under Mourinho - regularly getting embarrassed by no mark teams. What exactly are we going to regret? At worst, we will still finish outside the CL spots which is exactly where we were headed with Mourinho. The only way we will regret this is if we get relegated.

He won't be missed imo.

Park the bus football, childish interviews, ridiculous team selections and constant moaning. I actually think he is a world class man manager but he seems to have become too obsessed with himself.

He was never going to turn it around. It's positive that out of all mistakes we've made in the past, we've actually finally learned from the one of keeping wrong managers in the job for too long.

There's really no excuse this time. Our board have half a year to put a plan in place and look for a new manager.

Weird they want specifically an 'external' caretaker - not very attractive for the big names who would surely want a longer term deal and to be immediately looking at building a team.

Great news. I feel like I have been given oxygen.
Yeah, I know what you mean.. I think most fans wanted Mourinho to turn it around, but he is just incapable of changing. He had clearly lost the dressing room. It will be interesting to see how the players respond. I am not sure, say, it will effect Matic. He will still be slow. Pogba? Well I don't think he was persistently showboating and losing the ball because of Mourinho. But there is no question that the reason for his apathy on the pitch was down to him.

Pogba benched in the last game? I wonder if player power has won through here. That's a worry going forward, because the players have to share much of the blame for this mess.

I am glad he is gone, I had my doubts about him since day one but my god I could never have expected just how bad it got. Outside of the mostly dire football the way he went about "managing" the club was shocking. Its like he was friends with some narco druglord who gifted him Utd and he proceeded to run the club like some narco druglord's friend. Felt this was gonna go bad as soon as his first game against City, shades of Van Gaal thumping some shite 7-3 and then becoming completely undone against a title worthy side.

Sadly, he was just a part of the problem but not the whole mess that we are in now. I just hope the board has different ideas now that they have failed 3 times with their current approach.

Glad he's gone he was bad for the club and seemed like he's wanted out since the day he got here at times.

Loads more needs to change, hopefully can do that this season with a caretaker and get the right people n the club, Director of Football etc.

Can't see where Jose goes from here, a top club would be stupid to take a risk on him now I feel. YEsterday's news really, can't say I'm that bothered though.

Let's give him credit for what he gave us before this season. He gave us the League Cup and the Europa League. It was good the first two years. It went downhill this year.
Thank you for the good memories and sad things did not work out. We had great hopes but it was to be dashed this year.

We need to go all out for him. I don't know how much he would cost, but just pay it.

Fully agree with Neville's assessment of him just now on SSN.
