Fair point. Nevertheless you see people in a fresh job moving on if a superior offer is brought to the table. I can’t think of any manager examples, but Martin Demichelis signed for Atletico Madrid the 11th of July 2013, only to be signed from City the 1st of September the same year, less than two months after he moved to Atletico. Imagine you take a job at a small firm, but immediately after, you recieve an offer from a top company offering you a massive salary, opportunities, power etc. Most people wouldn’t give a damn about their current job and take the offer straight away. I’m sure everyone in Wales would understand if Giggs took the job at Man Utd.
Well matter of opinions I guess, but I think Giggs won't think about leaving Wales till after next Euro.

Knowing us, that's not really far away. Can see the threads titles now. "Is Poch an overrated manager who was saved by Kane ?"..etc.
This is the only certainty in life right now.

As is the inevitable "Should we have kept Mourinho" thread

Jardim or Poch are the only 2 options I'd want us to consider.

Jardim would be great for the French lads and even recruiting more, whilst also bringing through a lot of the quality youth we've got on the books.

Poch is very similar, but with experience of the premier league.

Both managers also play the style of football our fans have been crying out for.

Norwegian press saying Solskjær is the next permanent Manager, only waiting for Molde to approve.

From what I've seen, he's style of play is solid, wouldn't call it totally defensive Mourinho Style parking the buss & stuff.

And about that mentality, I think Atletico doesn't have it anymore when it comes to the big championships. On the other hand, I see united fans having that mentality when it comes to City, Liverpool and Chelsea playing better than them.

That mentality comes with results more than with style of play. Simeone is a hell of a manager with a huge personality.

Besides, go tell any player not to run when your coach has that physique (no homo). He's intelligent tactically, and is proven to reestructure a Club.

And I guarantee you this, United or any football fans might not like some defensive style (which I don't think he has), but any football fan would appreciate any style in which the players give their 100%, and that's what guaranteed with Simeone who is probably the most passionate and intense coach in the world along with Guardiola.
Mate, Simeone sets his teams up defensively even against smaller sides.

Granted, he has a better plan and vision than Mourinho, and knows what he is doing. I also have no doubts he will give Guardiola and Klopp a stiff challenge if we appoint him, and maybe even win a title with us if backed well. The problem is, will we enjoy watching his style. It is undoubtedly a bit dull and involves a lot of 1-0s.

I was a fan of such defensive football, appreciating the art, but after 4 years of clusterfeck after clusterfeck, I am tired of seeing us line up as a wall in our own half or pass sideways. If I just wanted titles and didn't care about playing style, I'd just tune in for the end of season presentation and skip the games.

Simeone might manage us in the future when things are looking up again, but for now, let us hire an attacking manager.

What did Mourinho win last season then?
Finished 2nd with 80+ points? Won 2 trophies in his first season? Neither of those seasons were good enough nor what the fans wanted nor what the club needs. People who think it's 100% about the results at the final whistle and nothing else don't understand the problem. The style of play has just as much to do with it if not more. Arsenal are in 5th yet have so much positivity around their club right now. They have hope for their long term prospects and are playing good football. You don't just "win" without having a basis. It's crazy to think that. There's no magic manager that can just win everything without at least implementing a solid basis. And a manager who tries to implement a negative style of play will be met with loads of complaints and will never truly fit in.

I like Poch, Zidane, Jardim, Favre and Howe, don't want any defensive manager like Conte or Simeone, need to give it a bit more thought about it before I vote on the poll though.

Is Zidane more like a director of football anyway? He didn't have one at Madrid and by most accounts wasn't really a tactician and left a lot of a coaching to the staff

One thing that I hope people note with Pochettino.

Even if we get him, there’s absolutely no chance Spurs will sell the likes of Kane, Alli or Eriksen to us. Levy will make this procedure as long winded and painful as possible for us, especially after the Berbatov saga where if I remember correctly City put in the higher offer and Spurs accepted, but Berba had his heart set on Utd and we somehow made Levy come round to accepting the lower offer, while sending them Frazier Campbell.

I’m for getting him but I’m wary of the obstacles Levy and Spurs will put in place for us, to the point where we’re paying what will probably be the most for a manager ever, and then Pochettino will have immediate pressure to live up too. He won’t have his Kane, Alli or Eriksen to come with him... no way.

That’s why I’m in the Jardim camp at the moment. Much less money, much less fuss, he’s immediately available in the sense he can quietly work with us or just outright start now and be the new man and to hell with caretakers.... yeah he’s probably risky but everyone’s a risk really even Pochettino.

Remember how some of us convinced ourselves that Moyes at Everton did wonders on a shoestring and bringing through youngsters, and the reason he never won anything was because of that as well as much richer competitors? Yeah about that...

From today until the end of the season United have to move heaven and earth and do everything possible to get Mauricio Pochettino.

If/when that becomes a dead end, then we start looking at the other (and much lesser) options
Yeah. Okay. So sensible

Only 8.2% of votes for Jardim. Are you people mad? No way will Poch leave a much superior team and risk endangering his reputation. Jardim's time at Monaco should be more than enough to convince the club to hire him. Can you imagine what he can do with Martial, Rashford, Pogba and maybe Greenwood at his disposal?

Poochie, I mean Poch. Conte until the end of the season before he presumably tries again in Italy?

He won Ligue 1 above PSG in 16/17. Monaco are basically the Leicester that year and also reached the CL semis outclassing Pep's City in the process. He is the perfect fit for us. Anyone who suggest otherwise need their heads checking.

The issue I suspect with Jardim is gravitas, I feel the United manager has to have a bit of personality/ or command respect (where man-management is concerned). I'd take Zidane with Jardim assisting him in a second.

There is alot of people saying Ole Solskjaer? Yet wouldn't have Eddie Howe? Surely Howe is more experienced for the role and a better choice than Solskjaer? I'm not sure i would have/want either but i am so surprised that Solskjaer would be so popular when his managerial record is so sparse.

Poch is my choice like the majority here but it wont happen, I'm sure of it. He wont leave spurs at this stage. We will almost certainly in my opinion be looking at Zidane as first choice. It's Woodys wet dream, the big name.. etc. I think it could work with Zidane, though it wouldn't be long term. A other 2-3 seasons of uncertainty but hopefully success.

The changes we have seen in the premier league with the rise of City have proven one thing to me.. that we need longevity in our next manager as getting to a stage where we can challenge for PL and CL titles will take time, probably longer than certain managers will stay with us for. For this reason I am thinking an ex player who knows the club would be a longer term choice, if successful of course.

Pochettino should clearly be the front runner. He ticks almost every single box(accept the fact that he hasn’t won trophies). He is the outstanding choice and the club should do everything that it can possibly can to get him next summer....

LVG and Mourinho had 'gravitas' and that brought us nowhere. What the club need is a proper coach who can bring these players to their full potential like he did at Monaco.

Nagelsmann

I know he's off to RB but I can't help think Nagelsmann would revolutionise our club. Plays great football and is the future. Isn't that what united are about. Pinning hope on youth?

That last one they must've thrown in there as a cheeky one to rile a few folk up.
