Apologies if this has already been asked/answered, just too much in here to scroll through at work!! But anyone know if Ole will have a specific presser based on being unveiled as interim manager or will his first one just be the usual pre-match one before Cardiff at the weekend?

Miserable gits. This season is gone results wise. Next year we will have a new manager, DOF and structure.
So why not relax and enjoy the fact that we have a team with lots of potential being led by a legend, one of our own, one who will give youth a chance, will try to play our way, and who comes with little pressure?

I think we are holding out for Poch in the summer, no matter what the cost.
The Norwegian season is over for now and they only start in March. So he has been released by his club Molde temporary till end of April. He is on loan from his club and he goes back to Norway in May.
Completely agree with this.
I think Ole is a big risk and doesn't make the most amount of sense to take this risk, but with Phelan on board that is a massive boost. It's almost shared management and I'm sure they'll have a lot of respect for each other.
Two people who know what winning looks like and with them together that's a pretty powerful statement to the players to say right we have both collectively managed or played and won a shit lot, so buck your ideas up, because the bar is going to be set.
What United need now is to get the staff, players and fans singing from the same hymn sheet again.
I think United are finally doing the right thing by getting an temporary football people in charge who breathe the DNA of the club and gaining time to appoint a new manager & technical director in time for the preparation of next season.
The fact is that even if United had appointed a permanent manager right now, this season and probably next are lost seasons anyway in terms of winning trophies. Especially if we’re going to appoint a technical director.
We will be a transition phase (again *sigh*) for the next couple of seasons. But, hopefully we can do so whilst playing attractive football again and bring a smile to everyone’s faces. The long-term aims have to be challenging for EPL & CL titles, bringing in young home grown players as much as possible whist playing attractive football.

No info on his tactical acumen? Was impressed with what Lampard had Derby playing. Hope Ole is also capable of similar. That gif with him deriding players about being too cute in the box almost makes him seem a bit old-school

I think this makes a lot of sense. I know that there are other, bigger name managers who are out of work right now, but realistically it was always going to be hard to bring someone big in on what's basically guaranteed to be a short-term contract. Barring some sort of miracle where we win the CL, FA Cup and make top 4, we'll have a different and permanent manager in the summer.
In most cases when a manager is sacked, a club will either bring in a new permanent manager straight away - and this will all be coordinated appropriately - or the club will appoint either the assistant or one of the coaches. In this latter scenario we'd be left with staff who have very little significant managerial experience. Ole theoretically should be a step up from anyone we have available internally in that regard. We're clearly not ready for the former scenario and won't be until we have the DoF in place, and it makes sense to wait until the summer if we're going to poach an already employed coach. For instance, if we really want to go all out for Poch, stealing him from Spurs in the middle of the season is likely to put the kibosh on any hopes we'd have of signing players from them later on.
The other consideration is that we're in a position where morale is incredibly low. The players are frustrated and not working as a unit. The matchgoing fans are unenthusiastic. Social media is turning against the club. While we could have brought in another legend like Hughes, Bruce, Keane, etc. who have managerial experience, I don't think they'd be able to galvanise the club in the way that we need. They were all brilliant in their time and in their way, but I don't look at any of them as options that make me excited in the way that Ole does. I guess it's because I have these memories of him coming on late in the game and making an impact, and it feels like that's what he's here to do again. Only time will tell if he has the ability to manage the egos in our dressing room, and only time will tell if this is a genius move or a disaster. But, to be frank, right now it feels good and that's something that has been missing around the club for a long time.

Tbh, I’ve more confidence in Phelan than Ole, but together, and with some behind the scenes advice from SAF to call upon undoubtedly, all in all this is a good option for now.
I've no idea if this is a good thing. His time at Cardiff doesn't fill me with confidence, and he's hardly a legend of the game.. Was a good player for us, but is he a name anyone will look up to? In terms of legend status, Zidane is obviously in another league.. Does it matter? Maybe not.. Looking forward to the weekend. I expect big instant changes.
This sounds similar to how people were reacted to the minority who raised their fears about Mourinho. We were told that it was Chelsea players who were not that good and downed tools. But the truth is Ole has zero experience of this level and never been a fire fighter (as a manager).
This smells like a not well thought appointment and I started to get people who were willing to give Mourinho till end of season because of lack of good alternative. But in the other side, Jose was so toxic that it was a good decision to part ways.

Great news that Phelan returns, he has the experience to help Ole out and is a big boost to the coaching staff. Quite a tidy lineup of staff for the rest of the season.
And the fixture list looks very friendly to them. Baring disaster, Ole could be looking at 5 quite simple games before we meet Spurs and then there's a nice run after that too before we get some really big games.

I imagine a lot of people were saying the same about Fletcher when he first broke into the first team.

I feel a bit more relaxed that Phelan is on the team, someone who really gets United and has presided over many great successes. I am sure he will be a real help to Ole.
Pogba played under Solskjaer in the reserves and they have a good relationship so i am pretty sure he will perform at his best.
Yes the Molde fans are saying it is always attack, attack, attack and they also concede too because they are always attacking. He likes players who are technical and whose movements off the ball is good. From the clip I saw their movements off the ball were a lot better than this current United team.
Phelan will help with the defensive side of things and Ole was the manager of Pogba and Lingaard in the reserves so he knows them pretty well. They say he is very strong on discipline too and a bit of a mini SAF.

I'm struggling to understand the negativity and also the challenge to the 'logic' of appointing a interim manager
We had to get rid of toxic Jose asap, which meant a planned succession with a new manager was always going to be difficult. The interim manager buys us time to get the long term appointment right.
Ole seems an excellent choice as interim manager. Experienced, attacking and with a mutual love for the club. Yes there are better managers out there, but very few if any would sign up for a 6 month deal
Great move by the board. We've stopped the toxicity, will start playing the United way again and will hopefully start developing youth in the 1st team

He's been out of the day to day part of the game at the highest level for quite a while. His methods may be as old school as Jose and his compatriots.
But the feel good factor from Ole alone is what I hope makes the difference.
The likes of Rashford Lukaku and Pogba should really take something from him.

Not sure how I feel about this but good luck to Ole and I'm ready to fully support him. Let's hope we see some entertaining football!
