Why hasn't there been any announcement about retrospective action against Shelvey yet? His tackle on Pogba was filthier than a trash heap.

No, not Lisbon..Lisburn!
The Geordie fans all lapped it up too and booed Pogba from then on. I guess they are a bit starved of action up there these days.
If Lurch was my talisman every week, I guess it would be time to look for a new sport to follow.

Is this true?

There have been numerous cases of retrospective action, anyway.

Why can't the ref come out and say that although he saw the tackle, he could not see the severity on the pitch and watching it again it should have been red card?

What a fecking awful system we have.
The system isn't there to rectify mistakes of the ref, except in mistaken identity I believe. It's there to pick up on incidents that the ref has not seen, and therefore not dealt with. So as the ref has seen it, and therefore dealt with it, it won't be reviewed. Otherwise, think how many decisions will be reviewed each week, it would be a nightmare. I'm just saying it's perfect.

when I first seen the tackle I gotta be honest I didn't realise until I seen slowmo how bad and dirty it was.

I may have heard wrong, but didn't one of the pundits on MOTD blame rustiness for the challenge

Not surprised that the FA is towing the "Ref saw it" line. They are spineless while being a bunch of hypocrites.

Twattenburg reckons Marriner was exhausted because of Xmas fatigue (a.k.a marriner was wasted)

That's the way I'd always assumed it worked but there's been several examples where the FA were perfectly happy to retrospectively undermine a referee's decision to send a player off, when that player lodges an appeal (including a match refereed by Marriner).

So if they're willing to correct a refereeing error when a player gets sent off, why can't they correct an error where he should have sent someone off but didn't?!

For what it’s worth, I think Lascelle’s “tackle” on Hererra was even more dangerous and worthy of a red. Certainly no less dangerous than Bailly’s last week.

The FA are pathetic, as expected.

I wouldn't mind if Morph got into a scrap with Dele Alli and they both end up KO'ing each other.

That is an absolute joke

Shelvey could have ruined Pogba's career with that tackle. Either Shelvey needs banning or the ref does for thinking it's acceptable.

I didn't think it was so bad. Looked like Pogba just stepped across him as Shelvey reached for the ball. Bad challenge, but didn't look deliberate to me. Borderline between yellow and red for me.

They are just a small little club from the north

When you go in with your foot mid air, studs forward and then do a lunging forward action... you bet it's deliberate.

It's not like this guy is whiter than white either. He's got a history of poor tackles and "losing his temper".

I can't believe the FA have let him get away with that.

Jenas claimed momentum made the challenge look worse than it was.
Yep, doesn't make sense to me neither.
Pogba didn't even get defended as much when Marriner sent him off against Bellarin in one of the most bizarre and unfortunate red card incidents I've seen.

The press really can hypocritical when they feel like it.

I' m just going to say that Bailly's red (a bad tackle offcourse) was NOWHERE NEAR THAT. So something is obviusly wrong with the principles of refs...

For anyone who needs reminding of how utterly clueless and shit Marriner is, we ended up with more yellows than Newcastle did (2-1).

cnut.

I always feel like you could do with keeping a man on the bench for these kind of situations. Bring him on in injury time once the game is sealed to do a job on a cnut like this.

Lindelof was booked for being pushed and accidentally handballing whilst nothing was given for the above. Absolutely scandalous.

Wishful thinking if you believe the FA are going to ban the voldemort looking cnut. The refs and the FA are the bigger pricks in this scenario. That thug who went studs flying into Pogba in the box first half should have gotten a second yellow. They gave Bailly an instant red for less. Then this fella who actually makes Dr Evil look like Johnny Depp comes in and tries to snap Pogba's leg in half from behind and doesn't even get booked. He should be suspended 5 games minimum but the FA will do feck all.
You’re correct on all counts, especially the dr evil one

Yeah Upton did, more or less both him and jenas said he didn't look like he meant to do Pogba but should of pulled out, both pundits a joke, Shelvey was trying to hurt Pogba. Then Jenas just laughed off that cb fouling Rashford.
