It is surely this run of games that will test solskjaer to the limit . In two months time we will learn a lot about him and this team
That's leaving out half the games during that timespan anyway. Between those games there is Brighton (h), Burnley (h), Leicester (a), Fulham (a), palace (a), Southampton (h). Obviously we're also going to have tough games in the next 13. Most pivotal 10 days is March 6-16 though. PSG away, arsenal away, City at home between those days.

Ole as Cardiff manager was such a strange decision by both parties.

He took over when they were already in a relegation dog fight with half a season to turn it around, having never managed in the Premier League before and having just won back to back leagues in Norway.

If he’d hung on he may have got an offer from a Southampton or even an Everton where he could have had a chance to instil his own style and build something. Instead he was working for a crazy owner with a very weak team who needed to scrap for every point.

If he does well at United but not well enough to get the permanent role hopefully it will put him in better stead to get another shot in the Premier League, having erased the memory of the Cardiff blip in his otherwise decent managerial career.

Unless we fall off a cliff, I'm sure he won't be going back to Molde anytime soon. If he doesn't get the United job, he'll surely have tons of suitors in PL and Championship.

Saf at training again. Just wonder if he’s agreed to step in with Ole as the face but just until summer, hence the decision to then appoint a permanent manager.

Totally agree:cool:

Now Ole has show he can be tough aswell. It's good to know, makes him a more complete manager.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...-restored-feel-good-factor-man-utd-hairdryer/

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been putting lots of smiles back on faces at Manchester United over the past three-and-a-half weeks but there was a stark reminder last weekend that the interim manager is not there simply to play happy families.

Anyone who was in the dressing room at half-time of United’s FA Cup tie against Reading at Old Trafford last Saturday to watch Solskjaer unleash his own version of Sir Alex Ferguson’s infamous “hairdryer” will have learnt very quickly that, beneath the baby-faced veneer and easy charm, lies a strong personality who will not tolerate a drop in standards.

United were leading 2-0 but Solskjaer was unhappy with what he had seen and had no hesitation about letting...

Given the great man had a stroke and almost died from it (strokes are that serious), I would be flabbergasted if he were even close to having the health to do that job. Him and Ole are close and his presence is obviously an inspiration for the players. Nothing more to it.

I genuinely love this paragraph

http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4055...-against-naivety-as-man-utd-set-out-to-attack

"They know they are good players, they are playing for Manchester United," he added. "If we all stick together and do our best every single day we might just surprise a few with the way we could end the league."

The amount of "we's" used in there is just a beauty... compare that to the "I's" used by a certain Portuguese someone

He has convinced me that we actually do have some really good players. More importantly, I think he believes he has some really good players, which is key.

So refreshing to hear after the club's recent history...

I'd give him a 5 year contract if we finish the season strong and in the top 4.

I feel much less apprehensive over the CL tie against P$G as well now,I think we've got the ability to make things very interesting

I'm starting to warm myself to the idea of a long-term contract after hearing the rumours of Fellaini and Valencia leaving. If he gets top4 and De Gea and Martial on long-term contracts while being ruthless with Rojones, Darmian and the hugging blogger I say sign him up until 2021 at least!

I keep hearing all this shite about "he's only beat crap sides", but Chelsea were league champions when they sacked Mourinho. And Hiddink didnt get them playing as well as we have. You dont just turn up to a side playing as bad as us and have us playing this well without a lot of hard work and man management.

Brilliant but lucky. Any other day, we are losing this. Great first half, poor second half.

My only problem is he did nothing to change the game when things were completely taken over by spurs. At one point they just had Eriksen in the midfield and yet, we could do nothing to take the control. All he needed to do was to put someone on Eriksen and the outlet is gone.

Thought he did brilliantly in the first half, worked out what Tottenham were gonna do and exploited it, "tactical masterclass" if you will. Second half thought he struggled once Spurs and Pochettino figured us out, they were completely dominating us and I didn't think his subs were all that great. However, it's great to see him on the side, and the fact we got the 3 points is what matters!

Well he's not perfect and he's still learning. But yeah, we were a bit lucky today.
I know this is not the time to do this, but I hope we go all out for Poch with Ole as his Assistant or something.

We don't need a new manager.

Keep Ole and focus on getting a dof. Let's create our Zidane instead of bringing one from outside.

I wonder what they actually did in Dubai as all our players in the second half looked dead on their feet.

Surely our game plan from the first half of countering would have been perfect with how many bodies they threw forward but we looked gassed.

Would have preferred it if he took a more proactive approach to stopping Spurs dominance and not just rely on De Gea.

He has literally been perfect so far, hasn't he? I don't even mean that flippantly. Everything he says is so good and so positive, he completely gets us and what it means to manage United, he has got us playing well again after months of shit, he has inspired and motivated our best players and our young talents to show their worth. And we've won 6 games in a row.

Still a long way to go until the end of the season, of course. A lot can happen. For now I'm just enjoying United and enjoying Ole. He must feel like he's in a dream

In fact I found his every substitution tactically brilliant. He set up his team well and his team hold on to the win well too. In between that we have to sort out our defense this summer, pronto.

Ole is more than talented and capable enough to be a manager. If we don't offer him the job he's certainly not gonna stick around as some assistant

I don’t think Ole would want to be an assistant when his just managed United for half a season and has won competitions with Molde. If he doesn’t get the United job, this has been the perfect gig for him to showcase what he can do. If not United surely some other PL side will take a punt on him.

That Lukaku substitute was awful, and he did absolutely nothing when he came on except anchor us down.

He had Phelan next to him, they knew what they were doing. Maybe because ive seen tons of games like this under Fergie, especially in his later years, where we ere literally backs against the wall but still scrape out a win. Nothing we haven't seen before. Typical tough away win.

I’ve made up my mind, Ole should stay. He not only set us up to attack (unlike Jose) but he was brilliant tactically having Lingard play centrally in the first half with Rashford on the right to counter Spurs in the diamond. Overall a great performance, the players clearly enjoy playing for him which is massive.

It's just been a pleasure again to be a United fan since he took over. Love what he's managed to do so far, even if we did have to rely a little too much on De Gea tonight. The job he has done of lifting the club's spirits in every way has been tremendous.

I know shouldnt say this but 2nd half isnt acceptable in my book (i know, i am nobody), dont care who is the manager, would say the same under JM, like i said after 3:1 win vs Arsenal away. If they scored, we would be in a bit of doo doo. I wouldnt mind that much if we went that way in last 5-10 minutes of the game but to go out in 2nd half almost from very start, sorry no.

Great game in general, great 1st half, we played football, we didnt look like cowards out there, great 3pts, great win. I am so happy for him.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

The theory behind the substitution was fine. Martial wasn't providing much at that point and it was time to change things up a bit. Lukaku just didn't do enough when he came on either.

Unless he's made a bit of a mess behind the scenes, I do think Fellaini should have been on the bench today. The game was crying out for him to come on in the last 15-20 minutes, and he's simply better than McTominay who eventually did come on.
