There is a big hype around de Jong (=> high price) and he seems to be bound for Barca.

I think we should have a look at Donny van de Beek from Ajax, it seem like he is the real deal as much as de Jong and probably would be a lot cheaper.
Couple of weeks ago there were reports Tottenham were interested in him. They are losing Dembele and Wanyama, so could use some extra numbers in midfield. Given their past with Ajax (Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Eriksen...) I wouldn't be suprised if they were.

A player that will play Matic's role, but also have better ability to create separation, better dribbling, more mobility, and more vision? United already have a prodigious midfield talent in Pogba. We shouldn't waste that by not striving to compile another midfielder with huge talent. It's hard enough to acquire one guy on that level.

How? Xabi couldn't even move with the ball and he doesn't have anywhere near the Xabi passing range.
And what about Xabis defensive skills? In general: I would love to see the "new Xabi" in world football, but i just don´t see anyone.

He can defend cause he's a pretty good athlete and reads the game well. Has a very high work rate too. He's still slightly weak though, so isn't as strong in the tackle and duels.

Ole would be a good person to draw de Jong in in my opinion.

If we get him & de ligt - that's our CDM & LCB sorted for a decade. Add Degea, Pogba, Martial & Rashford to that list - that is starting to look set for a stage up the ladder big time.

No he's not. Not good enough for United

How would Ole be a good draw for De Jong considering he's a temporary manager ?
Ole can attract de Jong to Manchester United - more so than attracting him purely to a managers plan.

I don't see how pochettin0 or Zidane would be able to attract a player to United more so than attracting them to work for his plan.

A bit like Woodward couldn't attract klopp to United but only tried to attract him to the plan.

Pogba does this often every game but imagine De Jong playing with Pogba in midfield, it would be too much for the team to try to close both players down and try to press as De Long and Pogba can play a ball through pressing and switching play on the flank with a long ball.
:boring::boring:Muppet mode:
Pogba ---Gomes
-----De Jong-----

Ah, the old ‘sorted for the next 10 years’ scenario. I think De Gea and Rooney are the only times in the last 15 years we’ve had a 10 year solution to any position.

Don't ruin the dream.

Just laugh at the thought of Liverpool trying to gegenpress Pogba, De Jong, and Gomes. :boring::drool::boring:

Why I've seen Pogba hold the ball and lose it repeatedly like 100s of times since he arrived? The last month hasn't erased my memory.

Think the boat has sailed. No longer at an age where injuries can caveat the ‘potential’.
Exactly - Thiago is a player that has never been consistent & is running on some heat he caused primarily as a youngster.

Would be surprised if he would make it at a club that was planning & successful in achieving the top of the game any time soon.

All that I know, I will forever tell all my Ajax supporting friends that he's from Willem 2's academy, so they can take their high horse and shove it up their bums.
Haha yeah you keep droning on about that. Except no Ajax supporter is hurt by that premise, like there is some rule all Ajax players must have played for them since age 9, or else they are not worthy.

In reality the fans are proud Ajax picked up an obscure youth player from a small team which didn't even play him and were happy to sell him for scraps, and developed him into a player worth 75m euro who is the first player on the team sheet in the Dutch team. Excellent vision.

Aaah Feyenoord. Frenkie is from Feyenoord land, his family were Feyenoord fans, but he snubbed Feyenoord as a pre-teen over Willem II because he thought that was a "warmer" club. Feyenoord were sleeping again when he turned 18. And now his family are Ajax fans.

^ That's how you properly do it ;)

I'd normally agree, but this is like Liverpool supporters becoming United supporters, which is always sweet. :D

On a more serious note, Feyenoord made a big strategic mistake by not putting a talent team in the Dutch Championship, like Ajax and PSV did when the opportunity was there. Frenkie was always obviously talented, but a romantic, and his year there when he was voted the league's player of the year was very important for him, letting him play with the big boys and making him a realistic player. I think the Feyenoord talents have a slower and more difficult trajectory now, hurting them on the field and financially.

Hehe, I do keep droning on about it. Us Feyenoord fans don't have a lot to cling on to these days:D

In all honesty, I'm just happy to see Dutch kids do well. My Ajax-hating days are behind me. Sure I chuckle when they lose domestically, but I cheered like a madman during that Bayern 3-3 when they went ahead.

Mu Feyenoord friends hate me more than my Ajax friends :nervous::lol:

Could also lose Eriksen to RM. If De Jong prioritises playing time over wages Spurs would be a good choice. Walk into that midfield, Winks, Dier, Sissoko his competition for a starting spot.

Spurs would have to stump up the cash though. Which seems unlikely.

Surely Madrid would have to pay at least 80m.

There is a good chance De Jong will start for Madrid, if not this season then in a season or 2. Looks like Modric's time is done, and also signing for Spurs means he can give up ambition of playing for other big clubs unless he runs down his contract or some team makes a huge bid.

De Jong wasn't voted player of the Jupiler League, he won talent of the league. Nouri won player of the league

all the major teams seem to agree this guy is class... can't understand why we don't seem to be in the mix for him

If all the top teams agrees he's class and are really interested in signing him then I think we have no chance to bring him here at this stage.
