2 players missing and suddenly we’re a very different side. I can’t see us progressing unfortunately.

I know the state Chelsea are in right now, but when has form ever counted when we visit the bridge? It’s a cursed ground.

Lukaku and Rashford up top, Pogba spearheading the midfield diamond.

I’d like to not see Juan Mata or Alexis Sanchez play again this season, if possible.

This game can't come soon enough. let's erase the feeling of the PSG game.

Just want to see the team on the right track again. hopefully we capitalize on chelsea's bad form.

Before last night, I would've picked us. Without Lingard and Martial, Ole's style of footy will be hard to implement with the replacement slugs on the pitch contributing next to nothing. Plus it's our bogey ground and they desperately need a win.

    ----------------------------DDG-----------------------------
    Young------------Smalling------Lindelöf------------Shaw
    --------------------------Matic---------------------------
    ----------Herrera--------------------Pogba----------------
    Mata------------------Rashford-------------------Sanchez

SUBS - Lukaku (Mata), Fred (Herrera), Dalot (Shaw)

    Chelsea 2 - 1 Man United
Higuaín, Hazard for them; Rashford for us.

I'm really confused by this attitude. Can't relate to it at all. Last season was the same snobbery about the FA Cup being unimportant, willing to make a trade with the devil to ensure Liverpool lost the CL. I mean this with utmost contempt (at the sentiment not you personally) - did you even watch the cup final last season? Did you not mind watching Chelsea lift the cup in front of our defeated faces? How can you not want to make amends .

Especially with Ole in charge, I desperately want revenge next week. And I desperately want to see us lift a trophy up high with that beautiful not so baby faced grin.

The season is no longer a wash! All of a sudden we're relevant again. One loss against a top side doesn't change that. It should fire us up even more.
I'm usually not like this but our league standing was looking so bad under Mourinho and the season so over that our revival there is now all important. For me it's nothing to do with losing the first leg last night or snobbery, just what should be the priority. You say yourself that a few weeks ago the season was a wash. It's not anymore and we know what the most important piece is.

Because he won't be playing the CL game so might as well give it his all before the rest.
Post came off widely dramatic to me, and I assume players try to give it their all every game, unless instructed otherwise. Sometimes things just don’t come off or work.

Assuming Lingard and Martial are out.

    I'd like to see...

    DDG
    Young Lindelof Bailly Shaw
    Herrera Matic
    Lukaku Pogba Rashford
    Sanchez

See how that works with Sanchez upfront in the box.

    De Gea

    Young, Bailley, Lindelof, Shaw

    Herrera, Matic, Pogba

    Lukaku, Rashford, Sanchez

    Subs
Romero, Dalot, Jones, McTom, Fred, Chong, Greenwood

Mata nowhere near the team please, someone will only get the bright idea to stick him out wide

I’d like to see us play a different formation.

Maybe similar to PSG last night with 5 in midfield and Rashford up top.

I think it’s something which could suit Young in front of Dalot.

    - Dalot - Jones - Lindelof - Shaw -
    - - - - - - - - Matic
    - - - - - Fred - - - Pogba
    Young - - - - - - - - - - - - Sanchez
    - - - - - - - - Rashford

I would much prefer to see DDG, but Romero will no doubt be allowed to start. Pity
Don't understand. Romero has always done well whenever he is called upon. GK position is least of our worries for this game.

Romero is fine. De Gea is the best keeper on the planet

Not trying to pick on you in particular mate, more the idea that cups aren't important. I just don't get it. I love cup competitions. And especially the ones in our own league. More than anything, we are a team in need of trophies and the boost that comes with it. I just think the kind of attitude that gets us feeling complacent about a tournament is the same that lends to over confidence and slipping up when it matters more in say, a more 'grand' platform like the CL.

If we play to win every match, then we'll be better prepared mentally and tactically to do better than prioritizing.

Mata, Lukaku, Sanchez lack the pace to do anything with the balls from Pogba. Might as well rest Pogba if we aren't going to supply him with runners and goal scorers he can provide opportunities for. It is the F.A cup. Let them worry about us. Time to make a statement Ole. If you do this and we go out, I wont care.

Assuming this game is on a Monday because of Chelsea's exploits in the Europa League.

Either way, it's a ground we don't do well at. Don't know what it is. However with that said,I would love to see us win 2 or 3 nil. Most likely, they salvage a win even though they will probably play crap.

2nd loss inc. Can't see us beating Chelsea at the Bridge. That place is cursed.

I wouldn't mind seeing a front 3 of Rashford, Fred and Gomes.

    Gomes - Rashford - Fred

Play our best midfield 3 behind them and see how it goes, it would be preferable to Sanchez and Lukaku playing.

Its Chelsea, at the bridge, which means a guaranteed win for them with Hazard scoring.

So we just give up before a ball is even kicked?
No, how is that giving up? Sanchez has been utter crap and whenever he plays LW he gets in Pogba's way, so why not give one of our talented youngsters a chance? There's a good chance Chelsea will play their talented kid Hudson-Odoi and the times Gomes has gotten on it's been on the LW. Then on the RW the whole Mata thing has proven to not work, so why not give Fred a try in the role? He can cover the ground the way Jesse does in the role and when it comes off he has a through ball in his boots, I don't see how they are worse options than Sanchez and Mata, and we shouldn't be playing Lukaku over Rashford.

Goes without saying, United need to bounce back from the PSG disappointment and get a result in this game.
The FA Cup is obviously United's only realistic chance to win something this season, so hopefully OGS will play his strongest team possible.

I can't comment on Gomes, but Fred has been every bit as bad as Sanchez when played, hasn't played in a long time anyway and you want to field him completely out of position? There might be a time for such an experiment, but not at Stamford bridge when fielding an inexperienced youngster on the other wing at the same time. Fred needs game time to build form and confidence, but it has to be in his natural position.

Tbh, McTominay would be a better option than Sanchez at this point.

Not too fussed about the result knowing how difficult it has been for us to go here and get an away result but we must react positively to the midweek result. If we get beat by a better team, then so be it, but we can't go out with a whimper.

I think a strong reaction will cement Solskjær's position as permanent manager.

Hazard is the main threat from them, he also loves scoring past us and giving Jones nightmares. Can't see Higuain doing much unless we're scared of his name, we should get a draw here.

The role Jesse plays is essentially a surrogate #8, he spends more time inside than he does wide, it wouldn't be a huge adjustment for Fred, and yes Fred hasn't been good but he's had far less chances than Sanchez so if we are giving out more chances why not try a guy who hasn't had a shot in a while as the other option has fecked up all of his opportunities. Plus Fred isn't replacing Sanchez in my line-up, it's basically Mata he'd be playing in place of and Mata is just offering nothing at his point. The truth is when you move past our regular starting front 3 nothing we have is good enough, and since this is just a cup game then I'd give chances to players that haven't failed their numerous other chances and pray we get Lingard and Martial fit for the Liverpool game as that is the one that really matters.

Can't argue, Sanchez is dead food right now, the ghost of latter day Rooney, touch, passing, shooting, just all off, the heart is willing but the body isn't responding with him.

Why are we talking about rotation? we've had 6 days rest since the last match and will have another 6 days rest until Liverpool.

This is a full strength match guys. Talk about Gomes / Greenwood / Chong is unrealistic. They could make the bench though depending on injuries.

3 ways of lining up for me for in this one:

Subs: De Gea/Romero, Bailly, Young, Herrera, Sanchez, Chong, Greenwood

Defensively cover ourselves, place extra emphasis on Lindelof bringing the ball out of defence and creating the extra man in midfield when needed. Dalot to provide natural width.

    Or:

Sanchez needs to be told to stick to the right and stay our of Pogba's way creatively, Dalot may be left exposed defensively by playing this way.

Subs: De Gea/Romero, Jones, Young, Fred, Gomes, Chong, Greenwood

    Finally:

I would personally prefer this one, get Mata in his natural position. Lukaku to peel out right, give either Luiz or Alonso problems in the air. Alonso needs to be targetted.

Subs: De Gea/Romero, Jones, Young, Herrera, Gomes, Chong, Greenwood

This is a chance to get Fred some minutes so it should be taken. Get the youngsters in amongst it as well.

    EDIT: Ignore errant arrows.

Another loss incoming in my opinion. With our record at SB, injuries and the fact Hazard plays his nuts off against us I can see them beating us. Even since Ole arrived we still concede a lot of chances per game and I'm very nervous about the next two games and the 2nd leg in Paris.
