If they try to mark Pogba out of the game it could leave Mata with the chance to make a big impact if he's in his preferred position. Wouldn't be my choice but an interesting approach and a substitution that would significantly change things up.

If Mata is on the right Lukaku up front and Rashford left we got no chance. I would play Lukaku right Rashford up top and Mata just behind, if I had to pick those 3

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Ole still not trusting anyone in de midfield besides the common startes, and can't blame him. I hope we don't get anyone injured and win this! lets go back to the winning streak, I hope Lukaku can wake up and Mata...well I hope Ole takes him off soon and gives the youth a chance
Only Pereira on the bench … was so sure he'd give Chong at least 10 minutes after everything he said in the build-up

Do they have a Marquinhos type though?

He was excellent, but it's on Chelsea to attack not contain and counter like PSG

I can just predict who we will get in the draw if we get past these!

I'm concerned about the lack of pace in the line up, I know its partly forced through injury. Those who are good with formation how do you think it is best we set up with that line up?

Little surprised to see no kids, even if they don't start we have a few injuries maybe its worth if we are winning by a couple of goals seeing where we stand with them. The bench is grim, again Fred doesn't start I'd love to know what's going on with him is he taking the p in training or something no one seems to want to use him.

Those commenting on seeing the kids used, when would you feel would be the best time to use them? Especially with the injuries we've had would ot be worth having one on the bench each game apart from maybe the PSG or Liverpool ones then if we are winning bring them on? Unfortunately the position we are in each game is a must win currently.

We need a win tonight, especially ahead of Liverpool Sunday, we don't want to get back on a run of losses after the fantastic job Ole has currently done.

Who was that doing the touchline analysis, he looked like Darren Fletcher if it was he looked really well.

What do you make of Ole's comments on Sanchez he sounds a bit of a loss as to what to do with him.

Watching the Sanchez and Herrera interview I thought Sanchez could speak English. Herrera speaks good English

What is it about Chong that so excites some? Apart from the odd cameo, I've never thought,"wow, this is some player!"

    Greenwood on the other hand...

What was all that building up of Sanchez only to leave him on the bench even with Lingard and Martial out? I don’t get it.

I heard he called Ole, Smeagol in training.

That was my prediction. Think Sarri has all but given up on the EFL Cup final
That would be a silly way of looking at it if he is!

He's already in that final so why give up because the opponent is City?

The likelihood is that whoever reaches the FA Cup final will also face City so if that's the case he might as well give up on this match too … here's hoping!

I’m ready to be disappointed. Chelsea could field their worst team ever with an Ebola epidemic ravaging their squad against the 98/99 or 07/08 Utd team at Stamford Bridge.

    And Chelsea would still win.

Fantastic interview with Sanchez. Speaking in Spanish he comes across very well.

Greenwood is injured and Ole literally said he would have given him some time tonight if he weren't. He said he'd have to blood another youth team player … Chong won the toss between him and Gomez for my sub pick

Hope is Mata in the middle and Lukaku and Rashford either side.

Mata on the right, Lukaku in the middle?

Game over if this is the case. No point even trying.

Any other season I would want us to win this trophy.

But this season going out of the cup tonight and CL next week might be a blessing in disguise.

We haven’t got the squad to fight on all 3 fronts. I can’t handle the thought of one of the key players getting injured tonight.

I’m glad De Gea is rested.

When he said blood another player....

I reckon he's sent Chong fox hunting

Are we a bit early in this thread.

    19:22
    It seems quiet
With 15 minutes to go it’s really lacking that ‘magic of the cup’ vibe people like to go back to. Changing the game to 7.30pm on a Friday night probably hasn’t helped that. There’s no buzz around the ground despite it being a big game under the lights. Maybe everyone’s just waiting until kick off to get going.

Sanchez still can't get a start. I thought he had "loads" in the bottle when we start squeezing.
