Why does it feel like in every big game Liverpool have played this season, their opponent is in an injury crisis

You’re still capable of beating us without them. You’ll need a big performance from whoever comes in for Martial though.
Dunno. Having both Matic and Martial out is a serious problem, and Lingard is probably not fit to start. So both our midfield and attack will be a mess.

    I expect a defeat now.

So Martial is out, Lingard is not 100% and now Matic is also unavailable. Well, shit.

I'm half-expecting a couple more mysterious injuries/illnesses to crop up overnight - most likely Pogba and Rashford.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you, and everyone is in on it. Everyone!

FFS - Any of our midfield 3 missing severely weakens us because we haven't got the replacements in the squad, so if true no Matic, the balance goes to shit. Expected no Martial anyway. Hope Ole gets the tactics right.

Matic was our one midfielder I was worried about against Klopp’s bum-rush tactics (look at how Chelsea targeted him last week - he was caught dawdling in possession many times, particularly in the first half). If he is indeed out, it may not be such a bad thing. Pereira, Fred or McTominay can stand up and be counted - we need to trust the squad. McTominay played in the 2-0 win against these lot last year, lest we forget.

I really didn’t think this would get such a negative reaction. Its been 3 hours and it’s still getting replies. It’s funny to me but nobody else sees the joke.
It’s a good joke mate, and in keeping with the ones I’ve seen in the previous matches against Pool. Ignore the people overreacting about it :)

Bad thing about the matic injury is that I don't see anyone among the reserves who is ready to step in right away . Perreira played Vs Burnley and was really poor , Mctominay has only had a couple of sub appearances and mostly played as an attacker rather than holding midfielder and Fred who should be ideally stepping in hasn't touched the ball for months . The fact that Fred wasn't even trusted to be brought on against Chelsea means I see zero chance that he will start . I think it will be perriera or maybe Ole might decide to play one of the Cb's in midfield

I'd start Mctomminy before I started Fred, at least he will be well disciplined.

@KennyBurner no idea why you didn't include Chelsea but here's a terribly combined logo of all four teams in the kind of same colour scheme

chelsea weren't included because they are yet to play the second game of the season. Everyone in the logo has played both legs against liverpool. Whoever created the logo will definitely add chelsea further down the season when its time for them to beat liverpool. ;)

When did they play Spurs the second time? Stop giving silly excuses for your pointless logo.

I wonder if Ole has a tactical move up his sleeve if a Matic is out. Or perhaps one of the kids to step up??

Would be tempting if either Young or Shaw was a good option as wingback (Young is only a useful attacker these days when he plays on the left side), and if Solskjaer had ever shown any sign of being interested in playing a back three.

Swap Lukaku with Sanchez and I am happy with that formation. All five of Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford and Sanchez offer lots of energy, pace, and some skills.

Are any of their current side hotheaded at all? Anyone for Herrera to WUM into a red card?
I don't think so, but I'd try Mane, Henderson, Robertson and maybe Keita. Not really rational but I think if things don't go their way, they could get frustrated. Same goes for Salah but I think he will try to dive so it's best to not touch him at all, let him fall alone and hopefully get a yellow for simulation.

Yeah I was just thinking it seems ages since we played wingbacks.

Matic is in good form but he's the least worrying midfielder missing.

    Want to see this:
    De Gea
    Bailly*--Smalling--Lindelof--Shaw
    McTominay--Herrera--Fred
    Pogba
    Sanchez--Rashford

*I'll gamble on him vs Mane, more reliable imo. Defensively disciplined recent games, and he have all the tools physically.

    Expect to see this:
    De Gea
    Young--Smalling--Lindelof--Shaw
    McTominay*--Herrera*--Pogba
    Mata
    Lukaku
    --Rashford

*Maybe swap McT and Ander positioning.

No Matic last min injured(?), and Lingard is not fully fit, at best he'll be on the bench.

I don't think Ole should start or play Lingard at all. Play him and the msg Ole is sending to the others "the available fully fit attackers (except Rash and Pog) are rubbish, not fully fit Jesse is more useful." Use Jesse just as a morale boost -- an injured player quickly back showing that desire to play for the team and to keep the rest on their toes motivated hopefully raising their game. Keep Lingard for the next big games, we need him fully fit, not to risk him again while he's still recovering.
I imagine Ole will set-up to counter-attack with the pace of Rash and Lukaku. Mata to help the midfield defensively and possession like what he did vs Chelsea, and possibility of another Juanfield (at our home though). Young will captain this again. The 4 midfielders would be very disciplined and soak the centre pressure and helping our two FBs, and once we get possession then Pogba to boom forward/long quick CA to the front two.
