    McTominay ...wtf!

I’ll eat my left nut if anyone predicted this lineup.
Matic is out. It’s either him or Andreas, and while Andreas has shown more potential over the course of his career, there isn’t much between them for the role we would need them for today.

Liverpool in playing a tough rival decimated by injury shocker.
I would normally laugh at posts like this but you are right. I remember when Wilson was in the form of his life earlier in the season and he picked up an injury just before Bournemouth was about to play us. We've been fortunate.

Was thinking there’s some tactical reason I’m not seeing. I think we lose some of our offensive capability without TAA at RB.
Yeah I can see you attempting to flood our midfield. I think you'll have 70%+ possession, we'll sit back and look to control, I just can't call a score.

Don't like that line up but we have no chance with the injuries i suppose. Would have preffered Sanchez to Lukaku & Fred to McTominay though.

Panic over McT is funny. I mean who could have started instead.
Neither Pereira or Fred fill me with any confidence.

Hopefully mata is playing as a 10 rather than as a RW
Every chance. Ole will want to exploit the pace out wide to bypass their hard working midfield.
Lukaku up top with Mata out wide will narrow our play and into their hands.
Salah will need to start a bit deeper with Rashford drifting out there for example. I think its why Salah has never done well against us or Klopp sides as a whole when they try getting in behind us

damn I wanted Lingard to keep the pace in Martials absence.. we'll just have to go with what we have and see what happens.

McTominay, Mata and Lukaku is handing a huge advantage to Liverpool.
I don't think so. I can see a diamond with mata as 10 and lukaku and rashford wide up top.

Matic is our weak link in big games, Mctominay provides better mobility, he has done it before as well. Plenty of creativity in the team if Pogba is man marked or pressed.

McTominay coming in has killed my confidence for this game. Nothing against the lad, but he’s no Matic. Fingers crossed he’s up for it today.

Mata over Sanchez is fine, the latter has shown time and time again that he’s not up to it right now. I trust Mata way more in a big game even if he’s a snail.
Of course. Can you imagine Sanchez and his constant giving away the ball in this match? It would be a nightmare and we would constantly be put under pressure when he loses the ball each time he gets it. He should be as far away from our team as possible for this match.

I hope to be stand corrected.

That line-up has put a pin in my balloon of excitement for this game though.

Oliver as ref too. 0-2, Milner x2 (both pens), one of our lads sent off.

Looking at the bench options, maybe Ole could have gone for 5 at the back, but he went with what he knows best and has placed a lot of faith in the players so it's up to them to repay that faith.

McTominay is a surprise but think Matic travelled and everything, so it will be interesting to learn if something has happened or if he was carrying an injury and was travelling as a decoy.

I’ve slated McTominay enough, but Pereira is less competent and Fred has yet to show the mindset to play for United in the league. I feel McTominay is more able a deputy for Matic than he would be for Pogba or Herrera, and whilst Matic has been fine since Ole joined, he’s probably the one player I’ve earmarked as being unexceptional. Not the biggest loss in other words.
Travelled where? The match is in Manchester and he was not at the team hotel last night. He must have picked up an injury on Friday or Saturday. So it was clear from last night that he wasn't gonna play today.

Matic being absent is a big blow. Hopefully Scott pulls out a similar performance to what he did in the same fixture last season.

The rest of the lineup is predictable.

Ole talks well about everyone in the media but he's not deluded. He seems to have another face away from the camera and have the guts to bench the likes of Sanchez and Fred for as long as he wants. I'm pleased with that.

There was no one else to play DM other than McTominay as Ole has changed Pereira's role to AM and Fred hasn't settled yet. I don't think we can complain too much.

I feel we cant beat them on the wings, even city struggled in recent times, we will play the diamond and put pressure on them through the middle. It might just work, they are effectively playing 3 DM's.

I dont like the line up.. McT, Mata and Lukaku but i guess there arent many better options at this moment.

Hopefully they wont start games like this next season though.

Not sure if I'm getting pre-match jitters or it was the 2 cups of coffee I just had.

Why is everyone so worked up? It's pretty much the same team that played Chelsea and did very well.
Completely different. We're at home now and Klopp will be just as likely to sit back too, making our shape redundant and negative.

McTominay had a good game against Liverpool last season. Everyone has forgot that game it seems.

The luck your mob are having this season is unbelievable.

If it isn't an offside goal, or an opponent getting sent-off, or a freak goalkeeping mistake, then it's your opponents suffering an injury crisis.
Aye..I've admitted in my earlier post. See above. Look, sometimes you can be handed luck and still bloody bottle it. It's happened and will continue to happen. I think if United win I'll actually be magnanimous for once. Quote me haha.

People are seriously underestimating this Matic injury. He's been class and simple in the same breath since Ole has come in.
I don't anyone is. No point grinding out teeth over it though. Hopefully Tommy does a good enough job...

Big day for McTominay, Mata, Lukaku and Solskjaer.

If it isnt a close match this could have a big impact on his future

Andreas got his chance and he shit the bed, so how can you expect him to start in a such high pressure game?

to make it worse even Lingard is out, and some posters here questioned their luck!
