Premier League Gameweek 29

I’d take a draw here...both teams are catchable so third place not out of question for us. First things first, we need to win our home games and also handsomely to imprive GD.

That's exactly what I was thinking, Kane didn't have any influence on the ball at all. Mustafi just shoved him.
I think the offside law needs to be revisited, as since VAR came in etc everyone's getting confused over what is and isn't offside.

As for this one, I'm confused to whether it should be or shouldn't be. Could be argued Kane affected play but could be argued he didn't so it's a hard decision
A player doesn't have to touch the ball to be offside, if theyre challenging for it, which Kane was, that's offside.

Essentially as soon as a player attempts to go for the ball they're offside.

No it doesn't.

The rule is
  • an offence is committed against a player in an offside position who is already playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the offside offence is penalised as it has occurred before the foul challenge
I don't know why people keep saying the opposite if they haven't read the laws.

Was the offside player doing the bold in the City/Schalke game? I can't remember. If not then that's the discrepancy explained.

Since Kane didn't touch it was he still offside? I imagine that if he headed it the flag would go up. Otherwise the foul is before? I don't know this for sure.
You don't have to touch the ball to be interfering.

Spurs don’t do draws so there’s bound to be a late winner.

Dunno, didn't see it. I'd be interested to hear. Because the rules state the exact opposite of what people here are saying.

We will not play Arsenal like this

They love to have a team come at them giving them a chance on the counter

The guy in the Schalke game was nowhere near the ball, meaning he wasn't actively challenging for the ball and thus not offside. That is similar to an off-the-ball offense, for example like if someone punches a player who's nowhere near the ball but in an 'offside position'.

Kane here was the closest Tottenham player to the ball and was attempting to play it, thus making him active and offside.

He didn't attempt to header the ball or go for it, he just ran and fell down as soon as there was contact, asking for a penalty.

The reason I believe it was offside though is because Mustafi might not have pushed him if the ball was coming in that direction. But, the reason why it might not be is because players still get fouled like that when the ball isn't actually heading their way, I don't know if that makes sense.

You go with that

Next time you see a kid with one, walk up ton him or her and tell them that

Yeah, the two situations would be exactly the same.

A comment on the Caf in the PL thread is basically the same as charging some random kid on the street and lecturing him on facial surgery.

He's a striker, if he isn't affecting the play on a set piece he's not doing his job .

A draw from this would be very good for us. Let's smash So'ton afterwards and try to climb up the table. 3rd position is quite doable for us imo.

All Lamela does when coming on is kick and scream at the opposition. He's a goon put on by the gang leader Bottlertino to rough people up.
