Almost forgot - to our resident café members from Norway, what's it like over there with the news on his appointment?
It's been big in Sweden but I just checked a Norwegian newspaper's website, front page: Picture of Solskjær celebrating after a goal with the caption saying: Has got the biggest job in football.

Think we should have waited till the end of the season personally but i wish him all the best.
Hopefully with Zidane going to Madrid that means Poch can stay with Spurs a little longer just incase Ole doesnt work out.

Well deserved, he's far exceeded any expectations I had of him. All the players are happy, there was no other choice really. Now let's back him and see what he can do.

Woo hoo! Thrilling! I loved Ole as a player and I’m so happy he’s been given this chance. This is my first post here and I’m glad it’s to congratulate Ole. Well done!

I wouldn't personally have gone all in at this point, but I'm delighted for him and hope he is a great success. I'll always support every manager at United, especially a legend like Ole.
Yea I can't see any benefit of announcing it now. Tell him in private he's got it and start planning for next season.

Delighted by this news - really glad it was done now to allow us a decent planning session for recruitment, and also off season prep! :D

I also was surprised at the timing, was scrolling through the internet home page at work and saw it very surprised they've announced it now however I can sort of see sense as itll stop all the speculation and Ole can start to prepare for the transfer window and put plans in place for the signings he'd like to get.

I'm not sure, I hope with a proper pre season we can go back to the football he wanted to play when he first arrived, hopefully hes only being restricted by injuries and fitness levels. I really want him to succeed as he's so likeable and clearly loves United, his lack of experience worries me most but hopefully he's a quick learner plus the players (currently!) All seem to like him some of what he says is so Manchester United as well.

However we absolutely must back him in the transfer window and I just hope he's not "too nice" about clearing out the deadwood.

I wonder if we've done it now to try and get another new manager bounce for the run in?

I thought this was a very good article:

Liverpool supporter I know is delighted says it's a great appointment and he is rubbish and will have no pulling power in the transfer market.. wouldn't it be funny if he does better than Klopp who he wouldn't criticise unless they failed to get in the top 4 ;)

I think it's a huge gamble tbh. If Solksjaer is not the man that adds to the list of managers that have failed. The club will have to look into itself and really change things because of the realisation that the best manager couldnt do it, the best choice by SAF couldnt do it, ex player / manager couoldnt do it... Who's left?

Poch is more likely to not fail imo.
You've not actually said why it's a huge gamble, just that it would bad for us if he fails. Yeah no shit, it would also be very bad for us if we appoint Pochettino and he fails. There's no new insight there.

The DOF is purely speculation, there has been no mention of it from Utd whatsoever. It’s getting a bit annoying at this stage.
Pretty sure Woodward said we would be getting one when Mourinho left. Since then, there has only been speculation.

Think our official twitter should relax with the use of the word "wheel". It is getting a bit ott now.
