Do we want to lose to City?

1. We are not finishing Top 4, our form have dipped massively.

2. We are not beating Man City, they are far better team than us.

3. Man City has been the best team in the league so they deserve to be champion. Liverpool has had lots of luck and jammy wins this season.

4. Forget about Abu Dhabi money, to be fair Man City have been excellent and deserve the title this season. We used to be like Man City where we were the richest club in the league by far.

Hence, purely in football term, Man City should be the champions and we are not TOP 4 team. Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal are better than us. I hate to say this but this is the reality.
If you truly believe this very average Arsenal team are better than us then we are in serious trouble

Throwing a game to our local rivals to stop Liverpool winning the league, while languishing in sixth.
Will be my lowest point supporting this club.

You should be seriously concerned at the fact that it is basically thoughts like these that set you on path to becoming like Everton.

Have some pride, ffs.
Did it turn you into Everton when you’re biggest legend decided to pass to Drogba?

Any Utd fans wanting us to loose just so it stops another team from winning something are in danger of going down the route of "small time club thinking"
It how the likes of city,Stoke and Leeds fans think(ABU)

I've supported United all my life (30 odd years) and can honestly say I couldn't give a feck if Liverpool win the league! Don't personally get the hatred fans feel towards other clubs... if you think about it logically it's bizarre!

I care far more about whether United are winning games- even if they are meaningless! I get far more joy from United winning than the Scousers losing!

Yes, I want us to lose. There - I said it.

I couldn’t care less about finishing fourth. Being in the CL next season won’t make a huge impact on who we do and don’t sign. Without CL football we signed Paul Pogba from Juventus. WITH CL football on offer, we signed lesser known players.

We can’t have Liverpool win the league. It’s not good for anyone except the bin dippers themselves.

Fear not, I’m going to the scouse game tomorrow. Every time I’ve been to the city stadium this season cardiff have won so hopefully can keep that going
Keep up the form! Cardiff should hire you if you win tomorrow ;).

Football fandom, and fandom in general isn't logical. Of course if you break it down none of this really matters, but it kind of misses the point. Rivalry is one of the best aspects of sport.

Hope the mods can make a poll.

A loss to Shitty could probably cost us a top 4 spot, but also likely prevents the dippers from winning the league.

I am deeply conflicted, can't decide if I want shitty to beat us 1-0 or properly thump us so it helps their goal difference.

Opinions?
No. We could lose to them. Yet a Spurs beats them whilst Pool wins the league. Yet we don't even make the top 4. Talk of a treble whammy...

Wanting to lose (a derby game no less) and possibly lose out on CL qualification to make it happen does.

You are never as much in our shadow as when you choose to sit in it yourself. It's embarrassing to watch.
It is pretty disgusting. I'm losing connection with such United base minute by minute.

I remember in 2010 I wanted us to beat Chelsea but I also took the piss out of United fans after the game. It was like a win win. But Liverpool had nothing to play for in 2010. We were already out of contention for Top Four.

Torres did an interview also at the time suggesting that he left Atletico because at times he felt they cared more about Real losing and that after losing a game to Barca to stop Real winning the league, he thought it was so small time that the Atleti fans were celebrating. Their team had just lost 6-1!

I could be wrong but this Liverpool side is eventually going to win the league. United might as well accept that and worry about themselves. And what they need is top four!

Not at all, United are the most successful English club and I’d like to see us remain there. Liverpool winning the league gives them a good case of arguing otherwise and in any case put them dangerously close to our 20.

I want us to lose to City, and City to win the league.

When you look at social media (MOTD Facebook page), some Liverpool fans love to make fun of Man Utd. I don't often see City fans doing this.

City fans would focus on Pep if they won. Whereas Liverpool fans would quickly try and start slagging off Man Utd.

Liverpool fans were saying the gap had increased under Ole just because that was the one point where they had played an extra game than Ole's Utd. This is the levels they go to to laugh at United.

People behave as of Liverpool winning the league would be a life changing event. Yes, you'll get teased, so what. Most of the people were I work support Liverpool. I've been ridiculed like crazy this season already.
How much of a consolation would that be when we are playing God knows who, on a Thursday night and people use Thursday night football as an excuse when we play shit on Sunday?
I want us to have the best platform to succeed next season and for Solskjaer to have the best chance at doing something tangible. There's no one that will convince me playing another season of Europa League helps that cause. Feck what happens to Liverpool.

So you only care about the short term (winning games) but not the long term (remaining the most successful)?

Gerrard did, and Liverpool have been just fine (by their standards) since that pass to Drogba

No, I embrace our history and am extremely proud of it but don't give a shit that other teams have successful pasts too! Too much hatred in society as it is to get worked up and resentful about another football team

Liverpool have not been fine. They have only one trophy to their name since Gerrard made that pass.
If Ole is willing to throw the game, he should not be anywhere near this club.

With Kane injured and all of Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea in semi finals of European competitions I think top 4 is still up for grabs even if we have the hardest run in and look the least impressive at this moment.

We have no margin for error of course but if city beat Spurs and we beat Everton then I am 100% pushing for a a united win against City.

I’m from Manchester. Grew up in the 80s surrounded by kids that supported Liverpool. They won league title after league title.

Me and friends have had pints of piss thrown over us by Liverpool fans at home games.

I don’t want Liverpool to win a pre season friendly let alone the fecking league title.

Don't care what the situation, I never want my team to lose. Said the same back in the LVG days when people wanted us to lose so that he could get the sack sooner.

Top four is massive for Man Utd. I somehow doubt the club the size of United would be so disrespectful to the game and throw a match.

You have seen what CL football has done to Liverpool. Are you sure you want to be in the Europa League on Thursday nights?

Football is a business. Being in the CL is big business.

I can understand if we have nothing to play for and the season is a write off. But we have a new manager, fighting for something and we've lost 5 in 7. The last thing Ole needs is another insipid display in a derby when we are fighting for something.

Whether City win or lose the league it makes no difference as they will still spend and compete as we all know .
If the scousers miss out we may see players leave and the team needing building again but the doubts will remain around their club as to what they have to do to actually win it . If the scousers win and everyone stays they could well strengthen even more and will also have the belief that they can get over the line again . feck that , it was feckin horrible during the 70s and 80s when them cnuts were winning everything , don`t ever want to see that again .
Missing out on top 4 ( I think we will anyway ) is feck all whereas the Scousers winning will be rammed down our throats everywhere you go . I know lots of scouse youngsters in their mid 30s that have not seen Liverpool win the league and I want it to stay that way . They are unbearable as it is .
I think City will twat us anyway and it wouldn`t surprise me if Everton take points off us .
Best scenario is Liverpool finishing 2nd on 97 points .

No. I want us to win every game from now until the end of the season. If we're going to come back stronger next year we need to build a bit of momentum between now and the end of the season.

What has playing in the Champions League this year done for us? We scored one goal at home in the whole tournament, ffs!
It’s weird. The modern day internet football forum rhetoric is “Top 4 or fade into obscurity forever!”

Fourth is like an obsession for some fans.

Arsenal finished 6th last season. Chelsea 5th.

Liverpool spent years dreaming about top 4. Yet still managed to bring in players like Suarez and managers like Klopp without it.

Fourth doesn’t guarantee anything - it’s ridiculous to assume that it’s going to solve issues at our club. It won’t.

Playing in the CL has little intrinsic value unless you win it but you're failing to look at context. We have a new manager, a club legend, who everyone has high hopes for and who's trying to build something. Why actively want us to play in a competition that makes his life harder just because we don't want rivals gloating?
I just don't get that mentality and as much as I hate Liverpool I can't subscribe to it.
