Klopp is ahead of Guardiola in the CL stakes, and still ahead right now in the PL too. Hell, he could still win the double. If that happens, I don't think Guardiola will be branded a failure, as everyone is recognising what they have both done this season is massive. No because Guardiola is probably going to win a domestic treble and Klopp is probably going to win zilch.
Klopp gets a lot of credit for going close for somebody who boasts one of the most expensively assembled squads in the country. Guardiola wouldn't get credit for being close, if he finished on 97 points and won nothing he would be branded a failure.
Guardiola STILL gets questioned even though he's probably going to bag 3 trophies this season to add to the two he won last season. Klopp is treated like a genius just for competing.
There's the difference in levels and expectations.

Before he was injured he was terrific for us. He had a slow start, but that was expected, Klopp demands a lot from his midfield, but eventually he became a consistent performer until he got injured.Look at what exactly?
I still don't see this great player that Liverpool fans talk about whenever I saw him play for Liverpool.
Out of curiosity, exactly how many collective games have those three missed through injury in their (almost) two seasons together? Two? Three?Tbf to Klopp, yes he has spent a lot of money but that's partially because of the Coutinho fee. His offensive depth still is underwhelming with the likes of Shaqiri, Sturridge, Origi, Lallana. That front three of Salah, Firmino and Mane managed to remajn relatively injury-free this season which was fortunate, but if any of the 3 was out for as long as KdB, they wouldn't have amassed this amount of points.
We finished 8th in Klopp's first season in charge. & if you look at the squad he inherited you'll probably say 8th was about right. Having lost the likes of Suarez & Sterling, plus the retirement of Gerrard, & with Sturridge becoming something of a injury hit liability, the only regular top class player we had was Coutinho. He too would be another one who'd jump ship when Barca came calling. So this team that finished one place below West Ham, & 5 places behind your Spurs side, is now challenging for the title with a points total in the 90's, & you make it sound like it's mainly down to money. Let's not forget that United have had 2 experienced, very successful, managers in charge with LVG & Jose. Yet despite both being given generous funds to improve things, neither of them did. You might be thinking that if your man Poch was handed £170 million during the summer he'd have Spurs up there with us & City. But the difference is, Klopp was given the money, & he has proven that he can build a very strong, competitive side. So until Levy does something similar, & until/unless your manager does elevate your Tottenham side to the top tier by using those funds wisely, you don't really have much of case. Because considering the relative strength of the other teams in the top 6, & considering how far behind we were just a few short years ago, I'd say that what our guy has done, all things considered, is nothing short of miraculous. We might have spent a lot of money getting to where we are, but a lot of money was needed, anybody could see that. If Daniel Levy believed for one minute that simply handing your manager £150+ million next summer to buy players thinking it would guarantee to have Spurs competing for major honours next season & beyond, then I'm pretty sure he'd do it. But he's a shrewd cookie who's seen first hand how easy it is to blow large sums of money on players who don't improve things. He's also witnessed Manchester United spend well in excess of half a billion pounds over the past 5 or 6 years & create a worse side. So yeah, money helps. But having the right people in charge to spend it is just as crucial. We have that now at Liverpool. Can you say the same about your club ? I don't think you can.Nope. Our squad was assembled for a total of 393 million euros, Liverpool's for 705 million and City's for 976 million.
That means Liverpool's squad cost 312 million Euros more than ours, whereas City's cost 271 million more than Liverpool's.
City had a lot of ageing players that needed replacing. Hart, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Toure - there was a rebuild job on there. Yes he had a lot of quality already in the team, but it was far from a ready made team which he could just step in to, they had a poor keeper, very limited/poor cb options other than the injury stricken Kompany and ancient fullbacks.
Yes, expectations from Guardiola should be greater than the expectations for Klopp, he has spent more. But they're FAR more, to the point where even when Guardiola wins a league he gets criticised for not also winning the champions league. He could win a domestic treble this season and still be criticised by some because he's spent loads of money and therefore should be expected to win everything.
Klopp is a great manager, but he's still being treated like he's managing a plucky underdog and that he's done well with limited resources, and it just isn't the case. He's a great manager managing an expensive side with top players who cost a lot of money to bring to the club, that is all. He's not some messiah who assembled it on a shoestring and should be applauded for even competing for anything.
The man has the fourth most expensively assembled squad in all of Europe.
It would absolutely be harsh and incredible. Some people think it will be somewhat harsh and quite incredible that Liverpool finish on 97 points and still not win the title.
I am not one of those people.

Reserves who was missing out of your line up?(10 Man) Manchester United Reserves 0-0 Liverpool
The result - and weekend - which will ultimately cost Klopp the title.
We were missing loads from the first-team squad that day, and suffered four first-half injuries - making three substitutions, which meant Rashford had to play the rest of the match on one leg. It couldn’t have been a better time for your lot to show some backbone at Old Trafford and win a pivotal game, but alas, you shit the bed and City will now win the title by a point.Reserves who was missing out of your line up?
You weren't missing loads at all. Name the players if it's loads, should be easy. We always shit the bed at Old Trafford anyway. We were missing loads from the first-team squad that day, and suffered four first-half injuries - making three substitutions, which meant Rashford had to play the rest of the match on one leg. I wish Shades was still among us.2019 could be the greatest year of my life
Same can be said about Leicester, West ham and even Everton games.(10 Man) Manchester United Reserves 0-0 Liverpool

The last two games which you dropped points in were against Manchester United and Everton.Same can be said about Leicester, West ham and even Everton games.
I find it weird how desperate you guys are trying to find reasons you made us lose the title.
Nah its the games against Leicester and West Ham which are the ones that are hard to take. Our record at Old Trafford is terrible so a point is never bad no matter what the situation. City are the best team in the league and will be worthy winners. Barring a shedload of injuries they will likely win it again next season. The last two games which you dropped points in were against Manchester United and Everton.
That must sting.
Not even a decent WUM. Utd should have beaten City, instead of celebrating the loss, and you'd be favourites for CL football. Or City shouldn't have lost to Newcastle then Pep would have been further ahead of us and wouldn't have had to de-prioritise Spurs first leg thus still be on for a quadruple. We could go on.The last two games which you dropped points in were against Manchester United and Everton.
That must sting.
Wouldnt be so quick to write them off,we said that about the champions league but they could still win it.They will never do this again over the next 10 years. Never. How unlucky can you be be as a club, we’re at our absolute worst and by the time we come back they still probably won’t have won a title.

So even by you own logic, the "we stopped liverpool winning the league" trophy should belong to Everton fans, not you, should we end up second. It is something to be proud of tbh, I'll give them that. The last two games which you dropped points in were against Manchester United and Everton.

Good, it will fit nicely alongside Liverpool's "we almost won the league" and "moral/neutral champions" trophies. So even by you own logic, the "we stopped liverpool winning the league" trophy should belong to Everton fans, not you, should we end up second. It is something to be proud of tbh, I'll give them that.
Of course should of went it in both games. But we're rarely successful at Goodison and even less so at Old Trafford unless it's Moyes!Martial and Matic injured and Mata, Herrera and Lingard all subbed off injured in the first half.
It's easy to look back with hindsight but you really ought to have gone for us. You only have to look at our defence since to see we were vulnerable.
And watching City and Liverpool battle it out for the title feels how? Not to mention the current state of United and you've got Europa league football to look forward to next year by the looks of it.The last two games which you dropped points in were against Manchester United and Everton.
That must sting.
I think City will spoil our chances of winning the titleI think Wolves will spoil liverpool's chances on last day of the season.
Time to face facts. If we end up on 97 points and not win the title, losing by ONE point to the most successful side in PL history, this is by no means an unsuccessful season by any stretch of the imagination. We've the highest points tally of any club other than Man City, and any other season we would have run away with this title, because the rest of the shower below us are nowhere near as good any more.To think all the years it's took them to finally get above us and be good enough to challenge for the title and they end up getting outdone by our little blue neighbours. It's almost cruel.
You have had one "good" season in 15 years. We had 25 great seasons in 30 years.Time to face facts. If we end up on 97 points and not win the title, losing by ONE point to the most successful side in PL history, this is by no means an unsuccessful season by any stretch of the imagination. We've the highest points tally of any club other than Man City, and any other season we would have run away with this title, because the rest of the shower below us are nowhere near as good any more.
Couple that with yet another possible CL final, (and maybe even win that trophy), and this season looks just as good as City's.
What you and every other team (except City) should be worried about is many years of domination between both Liverpool and City from now on, as the gulf in class is becoming very apparent. We are in a mini league of our own now, and it may be too difficult for other clubs to reach both teams. This doesn't feel like a Rogers one-off season fluke anymore. It feels like Klopp is building a new dynasty here, and we will only get better next season, not worse. Liverpool are back, and its hurting everyone around us.
