Yeah they did such a good job preparing for his arrival Pep walked into a team with no FBs, no ball playing CBs and no midfield.
Their entire attack and midfield is still nearly the same as when he took over. Aguero, Sterling, Fernandinho, D.Silva, KDB. He only about needed added B. Silva and Sane to the mix to make 2 positions completely full.
Only needed to get backrow.
United on the other hand had absolutely nothing team on all fronts. Crap defense that needed GK and midfield retaining possession to save, a midfield having the likes of Bastian, Rooney and Morgan in, an attack with 2 inconsistent youngsters as its best players with Mata and Lingard rotation on the right wing.
There's really no comparison.
This City team also won the league and league cup double in Pelligrini first season, and won another cup with semi final CL in his third season. They also finished second in his second season. Meanwhile we were finishing 7th, 4th and 5th etc.
The only reason for their collapse in the league is the players gave up after Pep announcement early and stopped caring for Pelligrini.
I don't know how can anyone watched this period and think we were levels. Just basing the opinion on looking at league table means one either didn't watch this season or forgot it because it how crap it was.
