Why not?

If they stay at this level (or more likely improve their team and bench) they can maintain a standard of getting 90 points per season. It would take one catastrophic season from City for Liverpool to win it then.
Because they've had many, many strokes of luck to boost their tally. And theit

Jamie Carragher saying this Origi goal will unsettle Pep. It May have ruined his evening glass of red wine tonight, but don't think it will be on his mind when he is giving his team talk on Monday night. Carragher always gives his thoughts like a fan, and not as a pundit who should know better than this crap.
Surely a pundit would notice origi didn't actually touch it and it was.a clear own goal?

Wishful thinking from carragher though.
Its klopp giving it all the chat in the press. Pep just gets on with it.

They might stay but they might not get this much rub of the green. They have been good this season, not going to argue otherwise but they have got all the lucky breaks. One or two wins into a draw could and would have changed their season. Again not saying other teams who have won the league in the past did not get rub of the green, we all got but this much! No I don't think so.

Level on 22 conceded now.

18 games, 14 GA, 0.78 GA per game, 8 clean sheets.
Impossible to be level given how strong Liverpool are defensively. I heard from their fans most of the year that they have the best is nearly every position across the back 5.

They're overachieving. Chelsea also did two seasons ago, and they dropped off. They're a bit better than that Chelsea team, but 90 points standard is a tall order. That's City level, and they're just not there.

For the first time this season (well, since it became apparent we weren’t going to be challenging for the title), I’m indifferent to who prevails in this race. I’m genuinely that annoyed and pissed off with our charlatans. Of course, come kick-off time tonight, I could have rekindled my new-found blue allegiances and hope they deal with Leicester appropriately, but as of now, I’m honestly fed up with football and want the season to end pronto.

I felt exactly the same last night and this morning until I bumped into a scouser I know who reckons City will bottle it tonight then Liverpool will turn it round under the lights at Anfield to set them up for a double . Blue allegiance instantly rekindled .

We'll get an open game at the Etihad which will probably favour Manchester City. Hopefully for them they're not profligate.

I thought City were playing away. They'll definitely get the job done at home.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Got a bad feeling about this one...

Which feels very odd, given that I'm normally desperate for City to lose.

I just think Foxes are in form... Vardy is dangerous, Tielemans as well. City will be nervous I think.

Any bad feelings about this game are not rational.

City have lost only one game at home all season (current home record: 17-0-1). They've never failed to score in any home game. They're on a 12 game winning streak in the league. Since the December defeat against Palace, they've conceded 3 goals in 8 games at home.

The only caveat here is Fernandinho's probable absence, but even then, City are overwhelming favorites to win here. No disrespect to Leicester, and of course any team can lose at any time despite the stats. It's extremely unlikely though.

Thing is, these stand-alone televized games tend to have surprising results. Leicester will also be aware of the attention towards this match. Can see them causing an upset.

You’re thinking short-term. If scousers win the league you will hear about it for the next decade in the street or in the media

From a WhatsApp group: a Quick Reminder: If Man city wins the league, Leicester City will receive L5m ad-ons bonus for the sale of Mahrez. #lcfc draw or win at #mcfc could mean they lose out the L5m. Well, well, well! Liverpool fans will not be happy with this.

Liverpool should beat Wolves at home and City likewise v Brighton on Sunday. So this title race all comes down to this game tonight IMO. Anyone else have a bad feeling that Leicester City might nick a draw? Have watched City in their last 4 games, not convincing home wins against Spurs only 1-0 v Burnley and if DeGea was in decent form he would have saved both of those goals in the Manchester Derby.

Leicester are in good form coming into this game and have already beaten City this season. Liverpool supporters will be glued to the screen watching tonight and Brendan Rodgers will be declared a saint if they pull off a result tonight.

When was the last time 2nd place overtook 1st on the final day of the season? I don't think I can recall it ever happening during the Premier League era, which is as long as I've been watching football. United came close in 1994/95 and 2011/12 though.

After Mahrez’s antics at Anfield, when he could’ve put Liverpool out of the title race before they were even in it, this is rather poetic.

Wouldn't they make more money if they get the Europa League place though?

I've got a sinking feeling City won't win today unfortunately.

I'm guessing the last time that happened was 1988-1989, when Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield on the final day of season to overtake them and win the title on goals scored (they had to win that game by a 2 goal margin). Imagine if the internet and memes were around back then.

In the Premier League era it has never happened. Every time the title race has gone down to the final day of the season, in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, the team starting the day in first place has always won the title. I wish I was old enough to properly experience us winning the title in 1995.

They'll smash Brighton. Liverpool may struggle without Salah at Wolves.

This is right up there with 2012 in terms of title races. Unbelievable. Best league in the world and it really is not even close. They are so far ahead of any other league so entertaining.
