I'd imagine we're being used here. Realistically we need to get back into the CL before we will be able to make these types of signings without offering stupid wages.

If Raiola was gonna use anyone to hurry Barca up he'd use the Dutch media. The Dutch media hasn't said anything significant lately.

This is the crazy thing, if a player starts earning that much when they’re 19, and every new contract probably sees them with a raise. How much will they be earning when they get to 30?
After all that talk about Sanchez messing up our wage structure :houllier:

I cannot imagine he’d entertain the idea of joining us, when an offer from Barca is on the table. Also, Barcelona have the highest wage bill in Europe so I’m sure they will offer something competitive.

Pretty risky giving that sort of money to a player so young. It might have a negative impact. But I’d prefer to see us try to get players that quality and age and take that chance than punt a load of £ on some 29 year old’s last contract.
Getting a player like De Ligt would make players believe in our project. Because right now we look like a mess with so many average players, stuck in Europa League.

I like what i'm hearing. The kid wants more money and more responsbility. We can give him both, plenty of cash and leading a backline alongside trash like Jones, Smalling, Young. Try being responsible for that herd of cats.

Agree, its just as important as the Pogba signing, shows real intent.

Would love it if he came here, the sort of transfer we need if we're overhauling the team.
Get Meunier for £25m and we've instantly got a much better defence than weve had in ages.
Shaw - Lindelof - De Ligt - Meunier
Or
Shaw - Jones - Smalling - Young

I know which one i prefer.

As much as I wouldn't wish United's predicament on anybody, I'm kinda starting to root for the "De Ligt saves Manchester United" scenario

He is in the age group that has seen our better days as a kid. It might appeal to him in that way? I don't think it hurts either having Blind and Van der Sar whispering in his ears.

After that add the money. A shit ton of it. We might get him if all the stars are aligned in the right way.

Is there any credible sources that says we're even close to getting him? People are just linking us to him because it'll drive the price up and we're desperate for young players who can immediately contribute.
Nope. No credible sources, sadly.

If anyone has any kind of confidence that we might pull this off:

Barcelona 1/8
Liverpool 6/1
City 13/2
United 9/1

Might be worth a punt.

If Man Utd sign De Ligt and Sancho this summer I’m putting £10 on them to win the league :houllier:

He won't come here. Big money will be on offer from a dozen clubs, and we can't offer anything but the guarantee of shit football.

We're not competing with the big boys right now, nor should we be.

No English, but plenty of Spanish.

The fact the narrative has gone from "we expect De ligt to sign very soon" to "United are now the favourites" is positive news. It could just be the agent trying to squeeze more money.

I hope we are going all out to sign him, but I doubt he will come.

It's not news. It's nonsense.

Don't see a reason why would he come here. Pretty sure he has lots of very good offers from other clubs on the table and while we can of course match it/offer more money, he would go somewhere else if he has any brains. If he goes to whoever makes the highest bid then no thanks, I would pass.

Yeah I agree. No need to get our hopes up. Cant see us competing with Barca

He will earn about £300k a week if we sign him. Not a bad wage for a 19 year old.
Then what though? Ffs it's ridiculous, what happens when he comes to renew? He's 19 and if he stayed with united he'd probably renew 3 - 4 times

Everyone crying how much Sanchez earns don't have a leg to stand on to slate Ed Woodward if they want this kid at the prices being reported
