:lol: this is a farce, did he really announce leaving Atletico only to be lest in the cold by Barca... surely not
You actually believe Sport, they are telling you that an insider learned something from their headline.

The prospect of selling Lukaku makes me as excited and hyped as a new transfer would

Yes imagine Rashy as our starting #9 with no backup  Top 6 race, here we come
Exactly, never understood people excited about sales. It's not good news until we replace said player.

If we sell him first we're just showing selling clubs how badly we need a new striker.

I think it means more in the sense that we know how we want to play and a burly striker with a poor touch and lack of finesse is not part of it. Which is partly a reason to be excited about.

And yet we were very much linked with Dembele.

We’ll sign someone. If not at least I won’t be stuck watching a striker who’s style I can’t stand watching. Nothing can make this a negative for me :)

What do you mean what is there to lose? It means we could lose even more quality and put on a bigger downfall than 6th. Tielemans is on loan because he was struggling with Monaco. Bruno Fernandes is a goal scoring midfielder. What makes you think he'll get the same amount of chances in a team without Pogba and why are you so sure Tielemans is going to be an instant hit?

Personally, think it's insane that people want rid of Pogba when he's like the last person who should leave. We need more players of his quality. We don't need someone to carry us, which is what you're saying you want.

Out ran and out fought is a lazy description of our failed season. We don't need players who just try hard. We need quality. You yourself said "being better than jokers like Young and Jones isn't enough." Meaning that despite those players working hard and fighting hard, they're absolutely awful and Pogba was better than them. Those are your own words. In other words, you agree with me that we need quality first and foremost.

Sell the deadwood and pair them up with Pogba. Enough of this Roy Keane nonsense where a player has to carry the side to victory. We need to surround our best players with better players. That is what it takes to be the best.

Personally, I struggle with the logic that we need to keep Pogba at all costs based on his performances since re-joining.

He's been a MASSIVE flop.

Build a team around a player who cant be arsed for 90% of a season and will go to madrid in a flash?

Aren't you sick of watching him lose the ball and just stand there flapping his arms?

No one doubts his talent - but he has no consistency, no workrate, no team ethic and absolutely deserves nowhere near the level of adoration that he has with our fans.

For the money we could sell him for now, we should sell. Another year of him being a flop will decrease his value. He's a bang average footballer

Baffles me how people are excited about selling Lukaku. Unless we are signing Jovic, Griezmann or Werner then I don’t see how it’s a good thing.

Fully agree. Rashford is clearly not ready/good enough to lead the line for a full season as our main number 9.

I guess it's because it would mean we are signing another striker. Those three aren't the only options out there better than Lukaku.

I tend to agree, as much as I am not a big fan of Lukaku I am a little worried if we don't replace his adequately. Seems a large gamble to hope Rashford/Martial can step up

I'm with you as I don't see us having any success in the near future but at least my frustraion and stress levels will be lowered. Lingard can also do one but you know no club will be stupid enough to try to buy him also.

I think we 100% should be looking at another forward or a guaranteed source of goals from the 10 or wide right position to supplement Rashy and Martial.

Because there are only 3 strikers playing football worldwide capable of scoring a goal?

Same old. Corriere dello Sport report that Bayern "might" be ready to offer 80 m for Dybala and refer to the "German press" on that one. No sources named though.

Personally I believe he'll stay put since he openly said he'd like to be a part of the squad for the next season and Juve supposedly value him at 100 m or above. After the poor season he's had (while playing in a very dominant side), there's no way anyone would invest that kind of money. At least I wouldn't. Especially since James Rodriguez seems to be on the market for much less, while having a similar profile. Can't quite believe in Bayern's interest for the same reason. Letting James go who they could have hired for 42 m Euros, only to pay at least twice the amount to get Dybala who's had an arguably worse season than the former? Doesn't quite add up.

If he's available though...

Dybala or Rodriguez?

I think he might do a job for us in the role Mata and Lingard have been deployed. His reputation took a hit but he is very skilled and has something to prove.
No more inverted wingers, especially one approaching 28 this summer and hardly living up to the hype.

Only player over 27 we should consider is Koulibaly if could get for £80-90m max, or Alderweireld as a stop gap to help top 4 push if other better options are not secured. I.e. a Fellaini style last minute dash and even then I'm not that enthused

If rumours are to be believed, it will be:

Rashford
Martial
Dembele

The other option is to replace Lukaku with a starting striker and have:

New Striker
Rashford
Martial

Question is, what top striker is out there that's attainable?

Agreed. We need width.

I want to see two direct wingers going at the opposition full backs next season. That's the supposed 'United way' and hopefully the way Ole wants to play.

I don't think he'll be a starter, and I do think we'll sign a top rated winger, but the potential signing of James shows that Ole does want width, speed and directness.

Stop being such an entitled bellend then?
The Barca brass obviously courted him and were up to their usual shenanigans. He was silly enough to believe them. It's the Verrati situation all over again, under different circumstances.

Who are the Lukaku upgrades that you think we have a good chance of signing?
Callum Wilson would be an upgrade on Lukaku mate. He's not fat for a start and doesn't run out of steam after 20 mins. Got a better touch too.

The hysteria on here is ridiculous this summer. 3 strikers worldwide? There's more than that in the PL alone.
