I don’t think so, there’s a lot of prestige in these negotiations. PSG fecked United off when Kenyon tried to lowball them over Ronaldinho with just one million. The PSG president was so offended that he pulled the plug and offered R10 to Barcelona for slightly less than what United were going to pay, IIRC.
I suppose you could be right. I know next to nothing about Fekir, but apparently he's really good so it would be infuriating to lose out because we wanted to save 5m. I'm still guessing our doctors found something they didn't like, but we'll see when/if he signs for another club.

Yeah, I have no clue about him myself!

After the Rom def going to Chelsea and Sanchez def going to City, feck knows but wouldn't surprise me if 11:59, he's head has been turned. I think like most transfer window, the domino effect will tell us something. I think if we can get the money for Martial, there's a space that he could fill...

The interest of #ManchesterUnited for #Fekir is created to push #Liverpool to increase its offer for the player. Fekir still wants to go to Liverpool.

Annoys me still that no one else is really pushing for him. He's better than Liverpool.

Sanchez-Lukaku (Rashford, Martial)
-----Fekir------ (Lingard, Mata)
Pogba-----Fred (Fellaini)
----Matic------- (Herrera)

does look about right if we do play a diamond. Would need to buy a proper LB and Dalot would have to beat out Valencia sooner rather than later but it's not totally insane. And we could also play the Pellegrini/Villareal 4-2-2-2 formation with Pogba and Fekir as creative midfielders coming off the left and right with 2 of Matic, Fred and Herrera sitting in behind.

If we can't get Bale and there's no right winger that both Woodward and Mou both like there are worse ideas, though we should probably just figure out who the next Sane type is and buy them to give us some speed and threat on the right.

Christ. Being 'linked' with players means absolutely f*ck all.
Beg to differ. It's very rare to sign someone who we're not linked with (probably can only only think of Martial and Falcao in recent times, and that was in the few years after SAF when everything just felt topsy turvy at the club). It is however very common to be linked with a bunch of players that we are not actually interested in or don't end up signing.

Fekir is in the second category, but it's so obvious Liverpool are still in talks with him that the rumours are plain painful.

Can't see us being in for a player who's just failed a medical. clearly there's more surgery required there.

I don't think anyone can say that with any certainty. Loic Remy failed twice a medical at Marseille and the Liverpool at various points of his career due to a heart disease, it still never prevented him from being signed by other teams. I supposed it's a matter of whether the club wants to take a risk

It's just been confirmed by Aulas. Fekir is a goner this summer.

So where is he going?

I mentioned on the other thread he seems to have had a very quiet year. Admitedly haven't watch Lyon as much as previous seasons but haven't really read much of Fekir at all.

Guess he's seen how well Liverpool have done and is disappointed.

His knees are fishy and he had a bad season... it's sad...he was so good in 2014-2015.

He’d be our David Silva in our current team. Still want him very much.

Or his injury problems were why Liverpool pulled out and he's lost a step or two?
If reports are accurate they didn't pull out, they tried to renegotiate the fee, If I thought that a players was a big liability from a fitness standpoint I wouldn't spend the amount that they were allegedly trying to negotiate. I could be wrong but to me, he just wasn't in it this season from a mental standpoint, iirc there were dressing room issues this season and Fékir wasn't pleased with his teammates.

Actually there are some decent options in the market for cheapskates like ourselves (going by past 2 seasons), Spurs and Arsenal - Meunier, Rabiot, Fekir -- all good players with one or two weaknesses available for a bargain. Quite an interesting situation.

As I said in the other thread, that was an exaggeration to show they’re now the ones in poor negotiating position.
Yes, appreciate your input. Still a bloody brilliant deal for 30m
