Definitely, if we’re talking about his media presence.

No more so (and in fact quite a bit less) than Best, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo etc. It's not the player, it's the club.

Come on, he is a bigger global/domestic star than Cantona ever was. Saying otherwise is disingenuous.

We signed him because he was already a brand. And he is a way bigger star than Best and Cantona. But Beckham is on another level

At least when Rooney, Beckham, Ronaldo etc. we're causing a fuss they were actually very good and important players.

Pogba's a luxury player in a 6th place side who appeals to the YouTube generation. Jay Jay Okocha except less entertaining. If he goes maybe we can sign a footballer instead of a showboating child.

Doesn't matter how big a star he is unless he performs like one does it.

Let’s be serious
If cantona was at his peak now in terms of social marketing and media he would leave Pogba for dead he was still starring in Nike adverts 15 years after he finished playing and the crowd still sing his name to this day .Pogba will be forgotten within 2 years of finishing

All leagues are farmer leagues essentially.
Farmer's work is arguably harder than playing football. Imagine toiling in the sun all day, growing those crops, anxious because your profits depend on them...if anything, tough leagues should be called farmer's leagues.:)

But I digress. We are gonna miss Pogba, he's a wonderful midfielder whose qualities are somewhat underappreciated by some of our fans.

Same with George Best. That guy was absolutely unreal and was a huge star in the 60s.

Maybe in the UK, Cantona and Best are/were more famous than him.
But Pogba is way more famous than them in France and the rest of the Europe. And I'm not even talking about Africa, Asia, South America...

I love all this talk of don't let him go for less than £150 million, etc, it's irrelevant, the full amount will never be reinvested.

If we're not getting a top player in return for him then it's a waste of time, just keep him & let him sulk the season away.

I can only presume you are too young to remember Best the 1 st ever superstar footballer “el beatle “ again is still a legend many years after his death numerous films and Tv programmes made about his like story no social media then if he was playing now this wouldn’t even be a debate . The world over knew his name in comparison Pogba is a one hit wonder

Why should we care? It's a football league not Hollywood.

Maybe because of widespread media? Just, maybe...

I need to get out of the cafe until the start of the season. People are crazy and have too much time on their hands. Between the kneejerk reactions, the druken thread and the moaners...

Spot on mate. A player that walks the most on the league (if my memory serves me right) is almost the definition of a luxury player. He's also terribly inconsistent, and some of our best matches were without him. His stats flatter his overall game. Defensively, it's like having a player less.

We're being played by Ed. He told Pogba to "want a new challenge", and headlines are being generated everywhere. Ka ching!

Who cares?

He's great for only a third of our matches, for another third he's awful and the final third is reserved for performances so forgettable that your memory of them is based entirely on whether you like him or not.

Either way, biggest star isn't playing anywhere near as good as many a player on half his wage and generating a mere fraction of his social media footprint.

Show us the money. I'd take a far less talented player who can do it more constantly than the stardom and nonsense that goes with it.

Building a team around a half omitted, rarely consistent circus is like building your house on sand.

Sit up, or feck off. United have given him every chance and he's never really given it a go.

Best maintained his profile after retirement for the same reason, sadly, that Paul Gascoigne does.

Although, there is no doubt, as a United player, there probably hasn't been a bigger profile player at United, before or since. He's closely followed by Bobby Charlton.

There used to be a joke back in the day, that you could go into the deepest, most remote places in the World and if you mentioned Manchester United, everyone would smile and nod, saying "Ahh, Bobby Charlton!".

All this without the benefit of social media.

Modern fans are quick to overlook legends like Best.

Our of curiosity, what does that even mean?
Most followers on Instagram? Biggest commercial deals?
Because footballing-wise he isn’t even the best player in Manchester.
