Di Maria's little cameo will be very encouraging ahead of the Brazil tie. Martinez certainly starts but big decisions to be made about Celso/Acuna/Di Maria

Surely Messi can't continue to play this poorly?

He must be due a performance vs Brazil.

Think it's encouraging for Argentina that they've made it this far with Messi being this awful. He can only get better and that's a good thing for them.

Messi probably has a "nope, dont look at me now like you always do, ill be here to help but other guys have to chip in as well" kind of mentality.

I mean, if Argentina needs a GOAT performance by Messi to beat Qatar and Venezuela then im sure Messi wont even bother. He will most likely be like "all right lets kick it up a gear" on the semis.

I mean it is kinda ridiculous and unbelievable what im saying but when it comes to Messi and only him, i think that could actually be the case here haha.

I was thinking the same thing. He can’t do worse than he has been so far but if he starts believing in this again and takes his head up and starts playing anything close to what we know he can do, Argentina would look much different in their coming games.

I would go with:

Martinez - Aguero
Messi
Lo Celso - Paredes - De Paul

Di Maria as a supersub weapon

Same lineup as the Qatar game then. I actually thought they looked better with Acuna in today for Celso. Will be interesting to see who makes it.

Are you sure about that? Just heard someone saying there's extra time for both the semis and final
Article I read from Marca said no ET until final, same as last year and 2015.

Might be wrong.

Fluminense made personalised shirts for the teams using their facilities to train. Spot the difference in how both teams went about collecting their presents.

I doubt Argentina will beat Brazil.
You keep saying this and you might be right.

But there's no evidence to suggest Brazil are actually a much better side at the moment, they were a penalty shootout from being eliminated by bloody Paraguay. Remember Brazil failed to beat Venezuela themselves.

It looks like it might Messi's destiny.

Its interesting I've been talking with some Messi fans on reddit who think if he wins this it will surpass Tiger Woods for sporting story of the year.

Absolute nonsense

They are carrying him, he should retire and take the other failing losers with him. He is holding them back this Copa America. Time to move on if you ask me. They should try and build a proper team with the younger players with something to prove

We really struggle against well organized teams, which Argentina surely isn't. Unless Messi decides to show up for this one, I'd say we're favorites.

Mina trying to headbutt someone half his size. Pretty pathetic there.

edit: Sanchez could have pulled an Ortega there.

There should be a prize given in every match for which team has the better actors...

Can't see Aranguiz without being mad we didn't sign him off the 2014 World Cup when he was still cheap but looked damn near as good (in the first two thirds of the pitch at least) as Vidal.

Vidal scored but another VAR check is on. And ruled out again :lol:
Every time I've watched and continue to watch VAR in action, the total determination of the ref in the CL final to not bother to go check the monitor at all for the penalty continues to bewilder me.

6 times la.
VAR is just crap. Totally open to interpretation of refs making up the rules on the spot.

Alexis in NT looks waaaaaaaaaaay better than in United. No idea why is it such a huge difference. Either he loves his country too much or he's too annoyed by something in Manchester.

I wonder if he can do this for us if we don't offload him somewhere which I don't think will happen

Excellent classic CB minute for Maripan, bumping Zapata repeatedly upon his entrance to the game and then hitting a lovely lofted pass while under pressure to eventually earn Chile a dangerous free kick.

VAR is a joke as is the new interpretation of the handball rule. "Natural position" seems to mean nothing nowadays.

These refs love the spotlight too much. Always have to spend too long talking to the players, stop a few seconds every corner, every freekick... it's ridiculous
