I rememeber it happening fairly recently, but for the life of me can't remember who was involved, players or clubs. They bought two players though, one worth 20m, and one 50 or so, and officially the transfer was 35 each or something as the 50m guy had a large sell on clause. Tbh, even those numbers could be miles out.
Moutinho and James from Porto to Monaco.

It's 10 million for 2 year loan + 60 million to buy isn't it? So total worth is 70 million euros or 62 million pounds
Seems reasonable to me. A player we're not fussed about keeping whos had two ok seasons and only one club wants him. 80m is our starting point, its not what we expect to actually get for him.

Our starting point is 80 million pounds, which is 90 million euros. Middle ground is 80 million euros (71 million pounds) and we should stick to that considering it's a loan + obligation after 2 years.

We have paid a total of 80 million pounds for him, why should we take a hit of 20 million when he's still in his prime and has a very good goal scoring record. Not to mention, Conte is adamant about signing Lukaku going by reports, so we hold all the cards, we even have a striker ready to be bought if and when Lukaku leaves. If you ask me, we should not consider anything below 70,75 mill

Yeah you're probably right but if we quibble over relatively small amounts we could be left with a very expensive darmian.

I think this is more a payback time for what they told us for Perisic, rather than anything else about us needing anything. Which I am fine with.
I think the whole Perisic thing is far more about fans making their own little narratives and stories up. I'm sure we're much more focused on getting a deal the club find acceptable than petty point scoring involving 10s of millions of pounds and a person's life/career.

Any chance you can find any links? Can't see it happening with Palace and Arsenal at all. Very much fits in with the weird fan fiction sort of things that we make up on the Internet.

Was that James and Mourinho to Monaco?

Exactly this. They have a business and football club to run, they won't be holding it against another club, for not wanting to sell one of its main assets last season.

United will sell to whoever, as long as the money and terms are acceptable. Lukaku will consider the move as long as the money, location, set up and terms are acceptable to him.

Most clubs don't point score, like fans do. In fact I would say only PSG do anything like this, and that's only because they're oil backed and can afford to.

Didn’t Spurs do something along these lines with a goal keeper to avoid another team (possibly Fulham) receiving a fare share of sell-on funds? Would be a while ago now though.

Longstaff, Ben Yedder and Bruno could be done quickly to be honest. We are the only clubs interested and they have more or less a set price, that isnt that high.
And it coincides with reports earlier this summer that we are only targeting players we know we won't have major competition against.

In this market that is a seriously good deal. His stats last season were excellent. Herrera on a free to replace Rabiot is also very good business (assuming it happens).

PSG have started their window very smartly. Despite letting another talented youth product go already.

Spurs making some very good signings. Ndombele and Cabellos will elevate their midfield to another level

These are the types of players we should go for for our midfield, not a 13 game rookie from Newcastle because he is British!
Sure, United should sign a Madrid player on loan for a season who has no intention of staying longer than a season wherever he goes.

Just a loan deal?
No idea. I guess the details will emerge IF the report is accurate. However, I'd hope that there'd be some sort of option to convert into a permanent signing at the end of the loan period.

Certainly was prolific at Aberdeen.

Don’t believe that Maguire nonsense either. 70m
It's the going rate. 50m for AWB was also ridiculously high.

Not sure why people still get shocked by the high fees anymore.
