Completely knee-jerk and there could be some day that is obviously better, but today has to be up there. The best tennis game we've seen, and an amazingly dramatic cricket WC final. I don't even like cricket but I could hardly watch that 'super over' for that drama.

Feck it, today was the best.

I am shattered, 2 screens, and I come away thinking we got the wrong winner in both events. NZ especially gubbed by fate, need a lie down.

Was gonna make a thread, today was one of the best British sporting days in recent history.

F1, Wimbledon and the cricket. Even bloody rowing. Fair play, was like a mini Olympics.

As you mention the Olympics, 2012 super Sunday is still right up there for me.

Incredible day

Nature of those 2 sports really isn't it. The drama just keeps building, so where it can feel there is not much on a random point/ball early in the match by the critical stages every one is a key event. The pressure just continues to rise in a cumulative way, hard enough to deal with the tension as a watcher.

Unbelievable.

I think I made a similar thread a number of years back, can’t remember the exact set of events though. I’ll try to dig it out.

I've never seen a more dramatic finale to a sporting event, 99' included. If you handed that manuscript to your publisher they'd tell you it was too unrealistic. Incredible stuff.

Absolutely, amazing day. African Cup of Nations had its drama as well with two missed penalties.
So glad England won, would have been awful if they had lost.

There cannot be a day where in 2 different finals, the competitors were tied at the end.

Really gutted for Federer. Losing in such a way when he could have redeemed himself for the 2008 final. And yet again, for the 4th time if I'm not mistaken, having 2 championship points and throwing it all away in the end.

Mentality in the big points has probably been his biggest weakness in his career but to me, Roger is the one and only true Maestro. Hopefully he bounces back from this.

Watching 2 sports on 2 screens, high drama in both. Best sporting day ever, in my life and in sports I follow.

And there was one Champions league final, no one will remember for that pathetic display.

Certainly as boring as a mini Olympics

I feel sorry for those who don't watch sport

Totally uninteresting day sport wise today, seen a couple thousand better

I think you're all forgetting Everton 3 - 2 Wimbledon from 1994.

When Finland won the Ice Hockey World Cup for the first time in 1995. It basically lifted our country out of the economical depression.

Do you mean the Saturday when GB won 6 golds inc 3 athletic golds with Ennis, Farah and Rutherford? It truely was a great day that and probably my favourite sporting day football aside.

Yes it was the Saturday.
It's difficult to pick the better of the two enormous occasions. Yesterday's drama or 2012. Time will tell but because the whole world was watching in 2012 and cricket isn't a world sport I suspect super Saturday just clinches it.

Not even the best day of this year. Tottenham v Ajax takes that.
