Is there any way back into our side for Alexis Sanchez?

It’s a tough road for him but he can certainly make a come back. He’ll need to get fully fit and remain fit for a long period though. He still has that football brain and his finishing has never been questionable. Fitness sometimes is a 24/7 task when you get older and it requires special type of winners’ mentality.

Anyone in sports med/physio?

Whats the latest on injury prevention? Specifically, muscular. That Welsh wizard of us was a hamstrung injury collector for years. Then he started doing yoga and it all but resolved, no? Should Alexis try similar?

Might be worth giving him a few games in the number 10 role and see how he does, what's the harm.

Too busy acting in Mi Amigo, no time for Mi Yoga.

The sanchez conundrum shows us why we are so behind top clubs in the last 5-7 years. Bale has shown far better form than Sanchez and has similar injury issues but Real Madrid took a step to sell him. Whereas we are hoping things will turn around and he will become Sanchez of old.

We need to be more potent in our decision making and move players that are clearly not working out sooner from the club.

Just find a club willing to buy him, and we pay him off half of his wages... that’s the only way out for both.

I’m of the opinion he’s largely finished at the top level. His hunger and determination has seemingly dropped, and physically he’s lose a yard of pace. Then this obviously all leads mentally to a drop in confidence and mentality is massive at this level of the game.

However I don’t think he is totally done. Some self confidence could do him the world of good and although physically he has declined he still has great underlying technique that he just needs to bring forth again.

I don’t think he is good enough for the starting 11, and shouldn’t be given forced chances on his name alone. But it is a long season and there’ll be plenty of rotational opportunities. Giving him a substitute appearance here and there, starting him when we need to rest the better players in less important games etc. I don’t think we should just freeze him out or totally write him off.

End of the day he’s still a United player and earning a massive wage. He’s been disappointing but that doesn’t mean that if he’s still here next year we should just totally forget about him. We should still use him when it suits us.

He shouldn’t be a priority, but he’s still an option. And who knows, in a functioning system that Ole hopefully moulds the team into he might be more likely to have a fruitful contribution. When things were disorganised and loose he was a bit of a lost cause on the wing. However if we’re playing with a #9/#10 he’d be more suited to either of those positions. If everyone knows their own roles and we have more control in that final third we could see a lot more from him. I don’t think the old star player Sanchez is ever coming back but in a well oiled machine he could still give us that extra bit.

He either needs to be juiced up with PEDs or we should be doing what Real are doing with Bale.

No he's had his chances. We need to sell him or loan him out ASAP. Neither the quality or hunger is there anymore.

I think playing in europa league might bring back his confidence. ALthough, I just don't expect much from him anymore.

Swap deal with Bale, with Bale's wages reduced to 500k.

Yes or no?

Provided he stays fit and gets some confidence early he could be a fantastic option down the middle. Or is it all over for him? After the Copa America hamstring injury I gave up, but Ole said it was precautionary.
So he is a player we bought in and he failed for 18 months.
But you think that "now", he will start performing?
Sanchez tried his best, but for whatever reason it was not good enough. We need to move on and try to offload him.

I've never seen a player in his late 20s, fail for 18 months and then suddenly become top class. This can happen to youngsters (as they improve), but not to players who are already at their peak.

It is shocking that any fan still believes that Sanchez will come good.

His first half was under Jose where the entire team was dogshite and the rest of it he was never really fit. Being fit is a prerequisite of the OP.

You have far more faith in Alexis than Solskjaer does, if his team selections are any indication of his thinking. If you look at what happened towards the end of last season, Sanchez appeared in good form during his sub appearance against Barcelona, then was an unused sub in the heavy defeat against Everton, got 7 mins in the defeat against Man City, 25 mins in the draw against Chelsea, then started against Huddersfield.

During the early part of the season, Sanchez will be reliant on injuries to other players simply to make the bench in the PL. Once the Europa League has started, assuming he is still here, he should get some playing time and could force his way into Solskjaer's thinking for the PL.

The nature of professional football is that some players get extended runs in the team to find their form, to show what they can contribute, while others have to perform at a high level when given a rare opportunity, just to stay in contention. Rooney under LVG, Zlatan and then Lukaku for Mourinho, most recently Rashford under Solskjaer, all started match after match, even when completely out of form. Sanchez got the benefit of the doubt under Mourinho until early October.

I suspect Sanchez views himself as a starter rather than a squad player. At Arsenal he started almost every match for which he was fit. Going back to his time at Barcelona, it was more of a mix of starts and sub appearances. If he doesn't leave in the next few weeks, I would have thought that a departure in January, most probably on loan, is more likely than him fighting his way back into United's PL team.

If he is prepared to wait for his opportunity then I would imagine he'd get one eventually, if only for a couple of games while other players are missing, then it would be up to him to impress.

So does anyone know what exactly is going on with Sanchez? He was supposed to be back for pre-season on the 27th of July.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was still nursing a hamstring injury. Potentially been left out of the squad to stay at home and focus on rehabilitation.

I will say something totally new, something what nobody didn't mention in these 2 years.
Maybe we could try him on right wing?

Sanchez has no pace left to be a winger. Could only be useful as a striker, false 9 or a number 10 role.
He has skill. And he is quicker than Mata and he is not much slower than Lingard.
Why not try him in few games in a row and see can he play it or not

I like the idea of Sanchez as a number 10 actually. Plenty of skill, can finish, can pick out a pass, would be a great player to complement a target man IMO.

I'd like to see him in central positions and I thought his best season at arsenal was in the central role no?

Is he injured by the way and do we know how long he's out till?

It's not impossible, Falcao somehow managed to get back to a very good level after looking absolutely done when he played for us. But I doubt Sanchez will do the same
Falcao was rubbish at Chelsea.

I think Utd have to give Sanchez another go. He was such a great player before and I can't believe he has lost all of his talents. Maybe Ole's focus on fitness is just what he needs.

What skill has he shown so far as a United player?
As a United player, of course that he failed so far. But i think that winger must play with risk. He at least always wants to do something. He tries killer balls, he tries to make that final pass, he tries to score( again i repeat; he failed so far in all that).
He is only 30. He didn't forget to play football. Maybe he just needs run of games to find a form.
We are not talking about lw or striker position where we have 4 or 5 players. We are talking here about position where we are awful. Lingard failed there, Mata can't play it, especially in Ole's system so why not try Alexis? Lets try salvage what we can.

If he stays then hopefully he will play as striker or 10 position, don't think he can play as winger at all. He has lost his pace but has good acceleration.

My only hope for Sanchez is that we're now playing a style of football which suits him. Even if he's a little slower he'll still press like a madman. I think the real issue with Sanchez is his integrating into the team. As at Arsenal, it's reported he spends a lot of time by himself and isn't the most popular figure. Coupled with the fact that he's on the highest wage in the team and is rarely picture with any of the players on social media. I feel the biggest obstacle for Ole will be getting him to feel or be welcomed as part of the team. If he feels "wanted" because he's a bit of a delicate snowflake then we'll see the best of him. It depends if Ole wants to indulge that side of him or just feels like getting rid to lighten the dressing room atmosphere.

Sanchez is going nowhere, no one will want to pay a player his amount of wages a week that has not been able to stay fit or been in any good form in the last 18 months.

I think he will get game time this year across the front 4 positions if we do play the 4-2-3-1. I'd like to see him played in the middle and on the right as i doubt we will be signing another RW.

If/When Lukaku leaves and we don't bring a new striker he can cover the striker position as well, although I hope we have enough quality here and I would like to see Greenwood get some games.

The worst contract deal ever. Now we are stuck with him and paying him all that money to sit on the bench. He is finished.

I forget he plays for us at times, but would much rather he start than Lingard. I just can't see Alexis fitting in with the high intensity style Ole is wanting to play.

But he constantly drifts into the left and tried to cut inside.
