Let’s hope Matt Judge doesn’t mess this one up. Then again he loves here have some astronomical wages.

The briefing clearly says 'No guarantee deal will be done'.

You guys better reign yourself in as this may end up in tears.

That’s just journalists trying to save face if it doesn’t happen.
More like club trying to put caution to not get carried away, they are all reading from the same script. They've been briefed.

Young and jones are shit. The former won’t start big games with Shaw and Wan-Bissaka starting and the later is always injured. De Gea is a GK. I’m talking about experience in the outfield players. Mata and Sanchez aren’t good enough to start big names.

Also you’re forgetting we HAVE to replace Lukaku when he leaves. We are getting a ready made replacement in Dybala.
Why do we HAVE to replace Lukaku? We have Martial, Rashford, Sanchez, Mata, James and Lingard who can play across the front 3 in various combinations, plus Greenwood, Gomes and Chong coming through who are potentially better than all of them.

Dybala is a player who would only be coming here because Juve want rid, his prime motivation would be money and that is not what we need.

What we actually need is to replace Matic with an effective, mobile DM who can distribute the ball.

Can't we, just for once, do something in a simple matter?
Maguire, Dybala, Bruno... we'll wait until the end of the window. And it's been like that for years
Every fecking summer we have "a Sneijder saga"

It's not necessarily a brief, if Dybala's agent is in United's buildings then these journalists will have contacts that can confirm it.
It's a brief when Simon Stone also tweets that. Also everyone tweeted at same time, which is usually done when it's briefed.

Mitten scouting Dybala for us. Cheers Andy.

Absolutely terrible scouting too, like Aguero or Lavezzi? Neither are like the other let alone like Dybala.

“Argentinian” was the end of Andy’s knowledge apparently.

Surely his agent wouldn't even come to England for talks if Dybala had zero interest in joining Utd.

Are you kidding me man? Only Martial and Rashford are capable of playing as a #9 and we’ve been through this. Mata and Sanchez aren’t good enough. You need an extra option to play as a #9. It’s a long season and injuries can factor in.

No offense but why would he swap Juve for Utd at this point in his career, and to be honest I wouldn't want him hear, rather have a decent CB and another midfielder

We probably have a lot of convincing to do, in fairness. Before he commits to us he'd need to be convinced we're a team on the up and that the lack of CL is a blip.

it's a clear briefing by the club now, given that Stone, Luckhurst and Hirst have all confirmed talks.

surely United wouldn't brief journalists if they weren't optimistic?! It's not like "we tried!" would appease fans if things went sideways.
Could be a ploy as well. To have Inter pump up the money for Lukaku or have Sporting reduce the asking money for Bruno.

Fact is no one has a fecking clue.

Lingard and Mata are attacking midfielders, not wingers. James is a winger. Martial and Rashford are strikers/wingers. Sanchez has alot to prove.

We absolutely need yo replace Lukaku. Dybala is someone that can play in a 2 up top or as a second striker. He can play as a #10 as well. He could be a great option as Lukaku is a real problem for us.

People questioning whether he'd be motivated to play for United. Do you actually think we've gone small over night, big teams have transition periods, we've got a project going that might appeal to a player of Dybalas quality. It might even get the best out of Pogba if we have players of this ilk around him.

This is a swap for Lukaku, this doesn't mean we wouldn't be in the market for a midfielder and defender.

This only makes any sense if we're getting rid of Pogba. Could just be a ploy to get Inter to stump up the money too, I guess. Great player but inconsistent and unnecessary at this point.

Dybala for Lukaku would be a fantastic exchange but I think some of you guys are a bit overly optimistic about his positional versatility (or lack of it).

A bit like Griezmann, he is a second striker pure and simple. He isn't suited to be a winger (was terrible in that role for Juve last year), he isn't going to play up front in a one striker formation (he has almost never done this), and he isn't going to be a trequartista type in a 4-4-2 diamond (he has played for teams that played this formation, but almost always as one of the strikers not as the trequartista).

You can play him as a "10" and call it a 4-2-3-1 but its really 4-4-1-1. When you're out of possession he's not going to be dropping back and becoming one of the midfielders in a 4-3-3 defensive shape so your shape is going to be 4-4-2 and your wingers are going to need to work a lot defensively. And when you're in possession he's not going to be dropping deep to help a lot with the buildup.

I think he could still be brilliant for United, especially if Solksjaer wants to play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 anyway. But he definitely has positional limitations.

Correct. He’ll replace Lingard/Mata in the starting line up. Begs me to wonder, where the feck will Bruno play then.
