feck off anyone saying they’re ‘happy’ or ‘glad’ this happened. you’re all pissed, just accept it like the rest of us. Dybala would have been bloody amazing. he’s a little bastard wanting to stay playing for a club and manager that doesn’t want him.
Who didn't want to get forced into a move he didn't want for the benefit of everyone but...himself?

I'm pissed our two bob set up chased a target that didn't fancy it.

I'm happy at least. I can honestly say I never really wanted him, he addressed a need we don't have. I only wanted him as it would mean I wouldnt have to watch Lukaku run around in our shirt anymore. If we can get rid of Lukaku and buy a player we do need, DM/RW, I'd be happy as a pig in shit.

Yep, and not just that, but it looks like we have no plan B this late in the window, and we won't be getting anyone in. For a moment, it looked like our transfer window was going to be salvaged (with Dybala & Bruno Fernandes links), but now its back to being a trainwreck.

We really don't, barring a meltdown of a season from two of the other "top 6" clubs.
17/18 Liverpool made 4th and Champions league final with - Winjaldum, Milner, Henderson, Lallana and Can

I'd take our current midfield.

We prioritised areas were we needed to improve, and (as expected) didn't find enough suitors for our dead wood to raise funds for extra upgrades.

It's a big amount of time so close to the end of the window. God knows what we have been doing the entire summer. It's obvious we were not going to do anything beyond Maguire but then the Dybala / Mandzukic swap presented itself and the club chased after a stupid deal which we have now pulled out of because it doesn't fit the ethos - could have fecking told them that a week ago. It just smacks of us not aging a proper plan.
God knows what we've been doing? Trying to sell Lukaku for market value rather than being bent over like we usually are when it comes to sales

As for not turning down Dybala straight away are you mental? If a opportunity like that presents itself of course the club have to look into it. It's all well and good have a clear transfer strategy but you can't ignore a talent like Dybala when he's up for sale

All things considered, if we have pulled back from Dybala for the reasons reported, I am fine with it.

My post history will tell you I was never totally sold on this move, Dybala doesn't seem to want to come to United. So why beg?

Top player but, even if he joined, I wouldn't be expecting him to break Denis Law's 46 goal a season record. Honestly, even if we sold Lukaku, with Alexis as backup I'd be more interested in signing a replacement for Carrick: Matic ain't it...

According to Romano tweet Mandzukic deal 'will be difficult to complete' if Dybala doesn't happen.
He’s one foot in his career's grave. Its evident that lukaku's money will be used to buy the new Steve Bruce. We will start the season with a CM that has just lost its 2nd best CM and no cover for Rashford

It’s a different situation, they would have viewed City as a new challenge in a new league. With Dybala we were literally trying to convince someone to leave when they didn’t want to. Sergio Aguero was not desperate to stay at Atletico.
Yeah people need to understand this fact.

Nah, deal over. No being held to ransom by players who are fecking castaways any more.

This would be equivalent to Bale demanding a payrise in a move from a club who are desperate to get rid of him.

Yeah, strategically it doesn't make much sense as I don't see how Lukaku suddenly comes back into the squad, so Inter have leverage to offer lower fees.

By over very soon you mean the window will be closed and we'll have no midfield and a crap attack? Or over as in you think this is a move that will still happen?
I never this move was gonna happen, it always seemed like a bit of a joke. Our club should have focused on players who were willing to play for the team 100%, without any doubt.
To make a coup like this, late in the transfer window, when we could have done it better... This club has saped all the hope and optimism from me. Let this season start (and end too)

Correct
As much as I wanted Dybala, it is absolutely the correct decision. If he’s happy to sit on the bench than to play for one the biggest clubs in world football then so be it.

Wait, you telling me a player who we didn't realise was going to be offered to us 1 week before window shuts was our plan A?

Of course but people are insisting that he's some kind of money grabbing mercenary (Di Maria) when he just wants to stay where he is. My point wasn't specifically about Dybala, more football in general and how players don't really care that much for 'history' anymore.

Feck them if that's the case. Sell Lukaku to the highest bidder. He's useless to us. Let Juve rot in their financial dross. We owe them nothing.

I don't think it's really a matter of money. From what we know he really want's to stay and he's yet to speak with Sarri isn't he?
If Sarri is told by the board to put dybala on the bench of the reserves team, Sarri will do so. In which case it will be an awful year for Dybala.

He was given a once in a life time opportunity to come to Old Trafford, yet he prefers to stay where he is not wanted. Unbelievable stupidity I would have thought, or lack of determination to fight on the pitch

Italy press is pretty much saying the same thing in a different wording. Italian press saying only more money would convince Dybala to join us.

English press saying we now don't want him because his only motivation is money and he's not committed to joining us because of other reasons.

See it's stuff like this from the Italians that make things unbearable.
We know it's over, yet they keep on reporting! Tomorrow it'll be done and dusted when he meets Sarri and we'll move on as normal, either looking elsewhere or flinging out the happy with squad line

Did it really take us this long to realise that he didn't want to be here? That sort of thing has been reported since day one.

We have no coherent plan. People are now saying its for the best that it's fallen through because he didn't fit our planned approach but the truth is that he never did.

We look like arseholes. Again.

Thought for sure Dybala's only option was to move to United. What's his agent advising him I wonder?

I mean Juve management are clearly forcing him out. Sarri doesn't play with a 10. Neither Sarri nor CR7 came out to voice their displeasure at how he was being treated.

He and his agent must really believe they can end up at PSG/Real/Barca I guess.
always the possibility Sarri gets fired, and Ronaldo is 34. wait a season the situation could be completely different. If he wasn't keen on going to United, unless we made him a ridiculous offer, he may think I live it here I'll just wait it out.

For me personally I think him not coming here is better for both United and Dybala if his heart wasn't 100% in it.

Fu*k him off now I wasn’t keen at the start and all this decides it. Everything happens for a reason. He’s not for us,

Turn down lukakus worth from inter - turn around and get laughed at by Dybala and then turn back around to the initial offer for Lukaku. You couldn’t have summed up Ed any better.

Balls to Dybala, would have ended up being another south American flop on way too much money that doesn't really wanna be at United. Squeeky bum time now, we should go all guns blazing for Fernandes, wants to play in the Prem and for United from what I hear. Pull your finger out Woodward

Gutted now, was getting excited!

Bit late now to do anything else. Don't really want mandzukic, lukakus head isn't here at all.

Ridiculous how late we always leave everything tbh.

Oh well, kids will get more minutes hopefully!

Gotcha, I actually didn't realize until I saw the thread about the charity shield match today that the season starts next week, I just have zero interest, I knew the transfer window would be a farce so I ignored it until the last few days when the Maguire and Dybala deals picked up some real substance, at this point I just don't give a shit, the midfield and attack is built for 7th so it feels like we'll just waste another season.

What a cnut for trying to be loyal to his current club despite them wanting to force him out.
