That's how I see it. Eriksen would have been a brilliant addition to the team. However, I can't see how we can conduct such complex deal at such late stage of the transfer window.
I think the only likely signing would be one that has recently 'gone cold' in the media, where secret negotiations may have been ongoing....
So I'm still clinging onto the belief/hope that a MF is pulled out of the hat, but if we do lose Pogba during August without a new MF then we are up shit creek.

I think our midfield is already shit at it is. If we lose Pogba as well then we might as well not bother starting the season.

If true, looks like we are done with this transfer window unfortunately. Only bit of business I can see us doing is selling Lukaku.
If we sell Lukaku it’s vital that we bring in another striker.

Have people not watched pre-season?

Do y'all spend too much time on internet forums complaining about football, rather than actually watching football.

Stop the moaning. Especially when you don't even understand what Ole is trying to do.

All pre-season we played with a two-man midfield and a No.10.

For the two-man midfield, we currently have these options:
Matic
McTominay
Pogba
Fred
Pereiria
Garner

OK - six players for two positions

For the No.10 position, our options are:
Sanchez
Mata
Lingard
Gomes

Now, it seems as if Ole has wants a new option at No.10 because he may not be confident in those options (and I imagine he wants Lingard to play right forward as he is the best in our team off the ball for the type of approach Ole wants to take), so he has tried to sign Eriksen or Dybala.

I would also imagine that this may be Matic's last season with us.. and next summer we will go younger, perhaps with a bid for Declan Rice or Sean Longstaff.

It's simple... watch football matches and make your judgements that way. Don't just look at a list of players names on a piece of paper and complain.

In tems of my opinion: I would have hated to have signed Dybala. Great individuals like him don't settle into evolving teams like ours. I am pretty certain there would hav ebeen too much pressure on him to perform here and he would have flunked,

Eriksen? Would fit like a glove to compliment our forward line ahead of him of Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Greenwood etc.

I also believe we need an experienced forward as a back up. Mandzukic would have been fantastic.. but looks like that won't go through now.

Ole is going after the right positions after he shored up our defence. Stop complaining that he's going after the wrong positions... especially when you don't seem to have realised that we have changed shape and formation.
If we sign Eriksen, our squad will be perfectly balanced!

Also, some people are asking why would somebody leave Spurs for Man Utd?? Are you serious? Man Utd and Spurs? Are you asking this just because they finished above us last season? That's insane. We are a hundred times bigger than Spurs.

In our worst run in Premier League history over the past five years - we have won three trophies. In their best run in Prem League history over the past five years - they won sweet fook all. United are winners, even when we are not doing so well. Spurs never win. It's a no brainer. Who wouldn't choose United over Spurs? That's insane. Some of you are going mental.

No it wont. 4-2-3-1 is set up with two holding midfielders. Thats how it works. We will have Mc Tominay and Pogba. 0 Defensive midfielders. How is that balanced? And the DM's need to be energetic and move fast - that rules out Matic. Then the striker needs to be able to hold up the ball. If the 3 attackers behind him get pressed then he will be left alone up front. Thats why I think we are looking at Manzukic. The right of the midfield three needs to create width but also cut in and score - thats Lingard and Mata out. Obviously we cant resolve it all but the most glaring problem is lack of DM for this to work. Pogba and MCtominay might be fine for some games then I guess we will have to give Matic a few red bulls in the harder games and hope he pulls it off.

He can go somewhere like Madrid for free next season. Why join us now? That wouldn't make any sense for him.

Crazy how much our own fans minimise the club like the last 6 year now defines it. It's like Stevie Wonder releasing an Album and saying why would you want to buy that, he's not done any decent stuff for 30 years, and they'd sooner buy that album from the winner of X factor. The tour always reminds me that fans outside this country appear to value it more than those in it. I've been fortunate to travel and I've been to remote parts of the world, it never fails to amaze me that I'll see a child wearing an old Utd shirt.

That counts for something with footballers especially one from that part of the world that has a massive Utd following.
That's probably the worst analogy in human history. Even in these musically fallow years there have to be more options than a simple binary choice between Stevie Wonder's musical kidney transplant sing along and X-factor karaoke comparative rags to comparative riches tale nobody.

Real don't want him or they would have bid, no?

Levy isn't daft if there is money to be made then it's done. United make deals more complex than they need to be.

Stump up the cash and that's that.
First of all, I hope we'll get him. Unfortunately I can't help thinking that Real already have a deal with Eriksen for next season

It’s just another link to a player who doesn’t want to come here. He only has to wait a few months and he can sign a pre contract with much better teams. Expect that at some point today we’ll start hearing Utd happy with the squad and done for this window.

Mitten is a very bad source for transfer news. Same as Cross. I will personally wait on a new updated from Ducker.

How is it complex? We bid what they want we get him.
How long did the james, wan Bissaka and Maguire deals take to negotiate? I'd love us to get him but the time frame compared to what it took for all our other signings this window is extreme.

Yep we've taken too long over those deals and simply ran out of time.

I think I’m the only one who doesn’t rate him that highly. I mean he’s alright but he isn’t the solution by any means.

We're skint, it's pretty obvious.

We relied on the Lukaku money.

Landing a signing like Eriksen in the next 30 hours would be diametrically opposite to Woody's abilities. Ergo, nothing will happen. Nevertheless, this was a rather good transfer window. I didn't expect we could resolve all of our issues in a single window. Sorting out the defense is a great start. I believe we will need 2 more windows (winter + next summer) to fully balance the team and be ready for a title challenge + the youngsters will have more game time and a chance to make a breakthrough.

Unpopular opinion: selling Pogba without signing anyone wouldn't be the end of the world.

Did we really expect Ed to pull a rabbit out of the hat. This is Ed dead right The guy who can only conclude one deal at a time. Almost 2 months of negotiating for Maguire and we still end up paying what was required. Did anyone see this bafoon trying to negotiate with Levy in 48 hours over Eriksen. Come on guys. We are not signing anyone else and Luakaku will leave. Defence will be better but midfield and attack will be weaker. Ed will get his pay rise and then we can all argue and debate the whole of next season on how s*it Young, Jones, Matic and Lingard are.

They will sell him elsewhere later in the window (assuming they can secure replacements today, which is probably one/both of Coutinho and Dybala,)
