We wont get to 4 with our squad, too light and not enough quality. Best thing though is next summer with new manager and no CL we will get to experience this all over again because ed will still be main man. I give up with this club, clear as day we need players, every summer is same thing. Bye bye sky sports and bt,rather enjoy my weekends this season.
To people like you and the other Tory backbenchers moaning and making up doom and gloom scenarios to fit your the sky is falling agenda, that say "Im done with this club". Please be done with it and leave. Instead of being excited for our first game against Chelsea on Sunday, discussing tactics and how we will look with our new exciting signings and which of the previous crop will step up and have breakthrough seasons, y'all are here being negative and acting like climate change advocates. Man up and support your team, yeah things aren't as good as they could be, we are all frustrated with certain things but stop crying and get behind the team. Damn.

Fine in principle, but we majorly need the likes of Rashford and Martial to step up.

They have flattered to deceive for too long

Look at the age they are and look at the scoring rates of players like Kane, Henry, Shearer, Cole and many, many others at their age.

It's very rare that a forward breaks out and bangs in 20+ goals a season before they're 23. They both have plenty of time to develop into the players they promise to be.

We sold Van nistelrooy put saha in his place did better with others stepping up.

We pretty much froze berbatov and put welbeck in his place changed system and did better.

Don't think Lukaku and him being top scorer or whatever is big loss as some are making. Because we are banking on others stepping up as it is and he was out of place in New system.

We could have done with top quality in attack but Lukaku is irrelevant to that. Midfield remains a concern.
Midfield is a major concern. Imagine if pogba is out for 2 months? He can’t play every game anyway.

It’s fully retarded we have not signed a replacement to matic and Herrera.

Also who steps up in their place on the wings... or do we think James is magically going to become a PL superstar in his first season
Who also steps up in creative midfield...
This is my worry, we are asking for a feck load of organic improvement

I will support Ole no matter what as long as he gives the likes of Gomes and Greenwood good amounts of game time

There is no point persisting with wastes of space like Mata and Lingard – that standard is why we are a 6th placed team

Its going to be incredible - we reliant on a complete repeat of the class of 92.

Yeah, but the club has kind of created a situation where they no longer have the time to develop

They are the leading lights now...

Not signing a midfielder will be gross negligence. Our engine room is even weaker than last season as things stand, with only Pogba providing any real quality befitting a Man Utd midfielder. We finished 32 pts behind the eventual champions and have a net spend lower than Astona Villa. Where is the ambition?

We've signed a RB and CB who are both clear up grades from last season. And the lad from the Championship has alot to prove still. There was a bare minimum that was required in this window and thus far we've failed to achieve that, which is quite simply unacceptaple.

And that is the clubs fault and not theirs.

They and the other younger players we will be relying on need our support this season, not lazy criticism and everyone jumping on their backs after a poor performance.

Woodward is no amateur, he wanted money for Lukaku to offset what was spent on Maguire. Attempting to sign Dybala and Eriksen was just to put out briefings later that we don't sign players who don't want to be here and it worked.
He is PRO at looking after dividends for the stockholders in any way possible, that much is clear and everyone are in agreement. Still, how can the aim of negotiations for a sporting entity of this size be to say things/manipulate to save face in the market at the offset of sporting success? Mind games make us look weak and petty. Does he have malice towards sporting success? No, probably he's just a bit over confident and a control freak and with somewhat skewed priorities. It is in the realm of possibility to achieve both types of success if he would relinquish some matter of control. We need a secondo of equal talent but with a strong love of the game to match Ed's love of money overseeing the long term sporting side of things more than ever now.

Let's face it, if having the season we did last year and receiving the brunt of all media criticism wasn't going to move the board's position, nothing was. The Arsenal-ication is complete, Ed believes he may have gotten us enough for a few incremental points, and will hope to scrape 4th.

If Spurs now get Dybala it will be hilarious how bad Ed is at signing players.

I'm actually relatively OK with this window.

At the beginning of the summer we only wanted players who are motivated to move here and are relative guarantees of being on the first team sheet for the few upcoming seasons.

We did that very well with Maguire and AWB and added a fresh young player.

We also needed a central midfielder and bar Ndombele I don't think anyone interesting is on the market. With Fred, Mctominay, Pogba and Matic we have 4 starters for 2 positions ( if Pogba is indeed to be played as we saw in preseason).

For the 4 attacking positions, we have Rashford and Martial as absolute starters and there were absolutely no players on the market I would have swapped either of them for. Not even Dyabala.

Mata, Lingard, Sanchez, Gomez, Greenwood, James. 3 squad players and 3 youngsters for rotation and starting 2 positions.

Ideally one starter in attack/ attacking midfield is added, but none of Zaha, Dyabala, Fernandes and Co are without their major worries, and for one reason or the other seen as risks. I understand the reason not going after any of those, and reassess in December.
I'd love it if we can pull something out of the hat but I'm positive we'll be in top 4/6 by the time the Winter window is open even without additions, by then a reassessment on players and manager will be due.
