I'm not arguing that Salah is bad player, he is a very good player. But while playing for the Scousers, even the likes of Origi, Ox, Gini, Shaqiri look exceptional.

For modern football, a great first touch(good technical skills) and quickness of thought is so invaluable for a player. That is why forwards like Lukaku will go out of the game soon. But for Liverpool's style of play, even more than their first touch, the most important factors are their movement as a collective and their tempo.

So many times, players like Mane, Origi, Wijnaldum etc. even Salah have taken a heavy touch, but instead of losing their threat, the gegen press they do as a collective, helps them retrieve the ball and turn back an unfavourable situation into a favorable one.
No they don't. They look functional and have the odd good game/moment but none of them look consistently exceptional for Liverpool.

Salah/Mane/Firmino are top quality, world class footballers. They're helped by playing in an excellent system (like all players, city attackers benefit from the same thing) but they're still brilliant footballers. The ones you mentioned are in the not bad/good footballers category and they look exactly like that for Liverpool, nothing more or less.

It's always better if City win it than Liverpool. But feck me, is it soul destroying to root for them. Frightening part is, we are light years behind them.

After the VAR calls, which were so bad it was painful, I stopped celebrating. What is the point anymore?

Except they don't. Origi had never looked amazing, Shaquiri had about 3 or 4 good games(there's a reason he ended up watching most games from the bench) and Gini *is* capable of amazing performances, he's a genuinely very good player. And that's what he looks like most of the time

For modern football, a great first touch(good technical skills) and quickness of thought is so invaluable for a player. But for Liverpool's style of play, even more than their first touch, the most important factors are their movement as a collective and their tempo.
The reason they can play that well at that tempo is their first touch. They didn't attack particularly well in the second leg against barcelona in fact, they just converted all of their chances. They created more and better chances in the first leg

So many times, players like Mane, Origi, Wijnaldum etc. even Salah have taken a heavy touch, but instead of losing their threat, the gegen press they do as a collective, helps them retrieve the ball and turn back an unfavourable situation into a favorable one.
Sure, but again, if they weren't exceptional most of the time, they'd end up being what they were against barcelona in the second leg: lots of chaos, very few chances. And most of the time that just wouldn't be enough, not to be at the level liverpool have been the past 3 seasons

Klopp isn't challenging for the PL and CL with Leicester's players

If we’re light years behind them, then there’s no point watching the PL or Utd is there?
They’ll have their moment and then they won’t.

I get what you're saying and I would love to be able to enjoy a match on it's own merits. The problem I have is that City have left no room for mistakes to be made. It's great winning a match 4-1 whilst not at your best but when you know that even dropping 2 points is potentially fatal to your goal of winning the league, it leaves you a bit tense when you can see all the problems that a team like City will exploit at will.
It's a fair point. Will City beat them by 5...?

Only thing missing now is us losing to Chelsea to set the mood for the entire season from the first week.

I can’t enjoy a Liverpool victory. It’s just the way it is. Hopefully we smash Chelsea by imposing a very high tempo.
Oh yeah, this is a different thing, meant more for the supporters of the club.

And who are you to decide if there is a point in watching PL/Utd if we're light years behind them?

I have zero time for this type of sanctimonious bullshit on this forum.

They’ve only played one game, bit early to see what’s happening yet.
I'll take any bet right now that City and Liverpool will again finish miles ahead of the 3rd place team. The only way City will go into anykind of decline in the coming years is if Pep left. Otherwise we face many more years of this technically brillant, but souless club winning titles.

 the meltdown has started. To be fair city will dominate this leage for another 2-3 seasons but we knew this. We just have to catch up and this time truly catch up.

Looking forward to the first 3pm batch of the season. Will be interesting to see how some sides are looking, haven't been paying attention to most teams over the summer.

I wasn't at all impressed by Liverpool yesterday, the scoreline flattered you bigtime.

I think United are going to surprise people this year.
I thought we could’ve scored more than we did. We weren’t great at the back at times but in terms of creating chances Norwich had to rely on Krul to keep the score down.

I don’t see United getting top four at the moment.

We shall see how it all goes.

They can’t take goal kicks in our game without the wind moving the ball before they kick it

I am really looking forward to the booking for people on the bench thing. Just imagine Pep or Klopp getting booked for one of their gobby underlings.

Norwich could and perhaps should have scored more than they did. Liverpool took their chances well, most of which were gifted them by the Norwich defence.

I think the highline Liverpool were using last nigth was suspect and may cause you more problems than it's worth. Especially against a team with a pacy attack.

This league is so boring now.
I bet you weren't saying that when it was a two horse race between Utd and Arsenal every year. I'm a Chelsea fan and i accept we're miles off the level of City and Liverpool, but i'm still excited aboutt watchiing us building a new team over the next few years and where it takes us. Imho, that's a better way of looking at the state of the league than moaning because your team isn't up with the best anymore.

There were plenty more surprise results at that time which made it more interesting. Now we have 2 teams winning 100 points and scoring 100 goals. Win by less than 2 goals is seen a disappointment from their perspective. People are constantly bashing all the other best European leagues being 1 or 2 team leagues but PL is no different right now.

Everton excellent so far, without Kean and Iwobi as well who I think will be quality signings for them and give them that bit of attacking talent that they were lacking.

It's mad to think he was once a laughing stock. On here his rep couldn't get much lower at one point.
That is just improvement from a young player. Some improve, many don't. Before Pep especially, he had a tendency to be a bit of a headless chicken. Dribbling into blind alleys, and some iffy decision making, and woeful finishing. He has worked on it and improved. The difference is that when he was learning, he had some quality established WC players to rely on. He could improve without all the pressure being on him.

Even in those days, Man United and Arsenal didn't dominate like City and Liverpool currently do. Just think about their point total of last season for 1st and 2nd place.

It's messed up the way his suitors let Zaha down. Palace showed with the sale of AWB they have a price.
A ridiculous price of 100m also Palace failed to get in a replacement to let the Everton move happen
