Alexis Sánchez did train with the squad today (not with the reserves). He has not convinced Solskjaer and the club wants to sell him or send him on loan. United wants to save almost 10 million of his salary.

The way clearly no one thought - hang on, 4 1/2 years for a 29 year old reliant on acceleration, power and work rate, what if he drops off a cliff performance wise, was incredible. Even more so when we'd literally just shipped Rooney off, a very similar situation!

Sanchez is Hitler.

I'd personally keep Alexis as I think we're going to need him. At the very least we should wait it out to sell him to a Chinese team when their window opens ala Fellaini. Loaning him to Roma is pointless.

If this is true, then good on Ole for making a firm decision quickly. We've been giving long-running chances to too many wasters over the years. Clean slate after clean slate.

I said before the window closed, if there's any way we could just write him off completely and severe all ties, pay him off and let him find a new club (I know its a financial knock and a longshot)…..we should. As it would be a huge statement to current and future players that we're rectifying mistakes and will no longer make such expensive mistakes going forward.

Isn't our squad quite thin in the Sanchez type position? I mean when Lingard and Pereira are starting before we even start getting injuries.

I'd be very happy if we can get any buyers. His legs are shot and Sanchez without his explosiveness is nothing. Shades of Rooney / Torres in this transfer.

I presume because Mata has been much better than him while being on far lower wages.
Sanchez has been half fit or injured all this time. We are already short of options in attack how can we decide to let him go just for saving money sake. Fully fit Sanchez with proper chance given can still be very useful.

I’d rather we play an U12 player than have Sanchez turn out in a United shirt again. He’s disgraced everyone, including himself since his move to Old Trafford. Giving him any more playing time over anyone is an absolute insult to any player that plays anywhere near the same position as him.

It's absolutely disgraceful that we are in this position. We will be at least one striker short, after a disastrous season when our biggest problem was scoring goals.

He's done.

Cut the losses and get rid.

An absolute shame because he was a super player at one stage

We have very little depth at the moment. I think it would be better to keep him until January when we can hopefully bring in another experienced body, after which we can happily ship him out.

He needs to go and I don’t care how that happens. Ideally a sale, even for a free transfer, but if we have to loan him and subsidise some wages then so be it. He’s an expensive mistake and we need to rectify it ASAP.

I’d rather play Greenwood, Gomes or Chong than him so I’m not worried about squad depth.

I'd keep him for sure. On a side note, its quite amazing really how much money we have spent since SAF retired, yet our squad is so bare bones and lacking real quality players.

He is not done, he is still useful as a striker. And it would be completely idiotic to leave us severely short of options into the long season with europa league which should be our target as well. I can't believe the desperation on cafe to get rid of him and letting unproven players be the sole options and when they get injured we might have to play defenders as strikers as we are severely short on them.

If it’s so obvious for OGS that Sanchez is done, why isn’t it obvious with Matic? He is finished all the same. Mata is less finished than Matic, but also not very useful any longer

If we follow this route (sell after window is closed), sell everyone who’s past it. This way youngsters will receive not “exposure to first team”, but inevitable and very serious participation due to rotational needs.

Maybe some youngsters won’t make it - but it’s just probability, whereas current deadwood is a fact

What exactly has he done in his time at United to make you think he would be useful anywhere? People are just clinging to the hope of the player he once was. People did it with Rooney and now they're doing it with Sanchez. Right now people are saying it's because he needs to be played as a striker but when that doesn't work he'll need to be a winger again or an attacking mid. It was the same with Rooney too. Oh he's not finished, he just needs moved to midfield/striker/attacking mid. Turns out he was just finished.

He is of absolutely no use to us and we shouldn't waste the minutes (or money) on him when we've got several extremely promising youngsters waiting for an opportunity.

What's so hard to understand? There's no clear indication that he will be better than a youngster based on what he has achieved here. He is bleeding us dry with his absurd wages and appearance bonuses. His teammates most likely hate him because he is the highest earner whilst being shit. He seems socially awkward and has no value to squad harmony, no inspiration, not a role model. Keeping him is a very expensive rotational option that can be filled by a youngster who we can invest in at less than a tenth of the cost for Sanchez.

A ridiculously expense and poor rotational option or a comparatively free talent than can be anything from poor to great.

Chong would probably be more useful than Sanchez so it looks like we're not loaning out Chong so I wouldn't be too fussed if we sold him.

It's vital that he goes. He's earning more than £100k a week more than Pogba, has destroyed our wage structure and destroyed our contract renegotiations. I suspect he put paid to a few transfers in the summer as well due to demands agents will have made.

Get rid at all costs. Bad egg, shit player.

We will be short of backup attackers if we send him out. I prefer give him one last chance. I think all of the attackers would perform better under Ole's new style. He maybe useful in both no.9 and no.10.

So we should risk ourselves so much that our top 4 could be in danger just because we want to see back of a player without replacing him? Greenwood already replaces Lukaku here.

Did the same last season with fellani.. And we got beat even by relegated teams in top 4 race. Complete and utter naive thinking.

How can a world's elite club be so amateurish if we are indeed wanting him out now without zero replacements.

The bonus Sanchez receives (on top of 350k a week) for setting his foot on the pitch in any given game is higher than the combined salaries of McTominay, Greenwood, Gomes, Chong and probably also Tuanzebe.

How can you not hate the guy based on what the takes and what we get in return? But no, let's not own up to the mistake, keep this leech in the squad, when he isn't injured he might come on and do no better than Gomes or Greenwood.

He's essentially just a body to throw in at this point. Again, I'd rather give the minutes to any of the youth players. Chong likely won't get much playing time so he can play instead.

I'm not disagreeing that we should've replaced Sanchez. We should have, we didn't. Nothing we can do about that now. The only silver-lining in the situation is that it could afford valuable minutes to talented youngsters that they would otherwise not get. Let's at least not waste that opportunity.
