The way this Chelsea team plays, they will cause trouble to any team playing a high line. You have to give credit to Ole on Sunday in the second hald to change our system to drop back and counter against them. Lets see how Klopp deals with it. Lets see if he has the tactical nous to realize this.

Chelsea great value for this hope they keep it up and see this through. A lot of Liverpool fans were very cocky about this beforehand.

Or maybe Chelsea are good and United are not as bad as everyone wants to think.

Possible to that, having finally won a major trophy, some of this liverpool team have lost a bit of the ravenous hunger they seemed to have in excess last season.

It's always going to happen after winning something and is why not making at least one decent signing who can challenge the current first team was a risk.

Here's hoping. I hope Fred could turn into Kante Mk II.

Chelsea's performance was very good, quick passing and winning the ball higher up the pitch. Kante was very good, best player on the pitch. Pulisic was also very good, shame he was just offside, otherwise would have been very good goal.

Or we could have had a fully integrated Maguire and Sanchez back fully fit and beat them 6/7.
Nice post. People are doing that thing were they believe we dont have a good squad. They want to pretend that we also didn't have a fine game after the first 20 minutes. Pulisic wouldn't have mad a difference with AWB in the side.

Liverpool didn't play well on Friday either and got extremely lucky with some goals. It'll be interesting to see how their season will go, but I reckon it won't be anywhere near as good as their last.
They were phenomenally lucky in the Champions League Final - Spurs battered them but of course with Liverpool’s incredible good fortune last season, the result was inevitable. I can only think of about six occasions last season where Liverpool were genuinely impressive. Luck accounted for the majority of their victories but as that’s unsustainable, they will struggle this season, IMO.

They were indeed very good.

They deserve credit but you’s have looked awful. Even the win over Norwich was far from impressive. Can’t read too much into it but I think Liverpool won’t be anything like what we saw last season.
I don't think we'll get anywhere near 97 points but I'm still expecting mid-high 80's.

City will probably end up on 95ish again.

Chelsea look good, Liverpool are very sloppy though. Chelsea finished the chance they had to, winning the possession battle against Liverpool will give them great confidence. Shame Pulisic was offside, it would have been a great individual goal!

Is it me or have Liverpool not been *that* bad. You guys are acting as if they’re playing like us  I think Chelsea have just been better so far tbh and even then there was a spell where Liverpool were going forward a lot
This post angered me :annoyed:

Oh look, the guy who's actually a proven, quality striker is playing for Chelsea, and has promptly scored.

Liverpool are badly missing Firminho, he's essentially their creative outlet through the middle.

Interestingly Chelsea are playing almost the exact same XI Mourinho suggested Lampard should play barring Emerson instead of Alonso.

Teams don't finish on 97 points & win a European Cup and only play well six times over a season. That's a ridiculously silly think to say.

We look v decent this surely pretty much our first team. Though Rudiger will start when fit, CHO, RLC will come in to attack sometimes. Midfield 3 of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic is very strong.

Pulisic, Giroud and Kante added in make us different team to Utd game. Credit to Lampard.

Referees also been very good.

Do people still think Chelsea will struggle to make top 6? They look quite good, especially in midfield and going forward. Kante makes quiite a difference. Top player.

Kante or not we would have beaten them.
I recall us playing the way Atletico Madrid play under Simeone.
It's just the midfield and right wing, man. If we had just got a right winger and 2 midfielders, we wouldn't have been under siege from chelsea in the first half. Mctominay can't hold the midfield alone when Periera and Lingard are just not pulling their weight.

Kante has run through the static midfield.

It looks old and pedestrian, bit like ours would be if we had Matic,Young in the starting line up

Well, some fans on this forum have been quite critical of our performance, including myself. After first 40 minutes today, I can see that Chelsea look very well drilled and will cause problems for everyone, therefore we are not as much behind Liverpool and City as some might think.
Or maybe they've worked out where the net is.

If Pulisic keeps playing as he has done then they should be fine for sure.

That would be my take as well. People say United is terrible but well, maybe, maybe not... good for Chelsea and let’s see how Liverpool react.

Why did the lineswoman let the play run on for so long for that disallowed Pulisic goal? He seemed pretty far offside and he carried the ball a mile, checked back & stuck it in the net before offside was called?
