Im actually not upset. The style of play has clearly improved. No mindless goofball, nice intricate passing and fantastic movement off the ball. Just got beaten really by a really superb strike. Thought maybe Lingard should have done a lot more in the role we needed him to play. Encouraged by the progress shown.

Random thoughts.

- Don’t like wolves at all and can’t wait til we beat them next. Irritating team.

- We played superbly in the first half, and limited them in the second for most of it. They scored a frustrating wonder goal from their brief purple patch.

- We’re not clinical enough. Martial at the end of the first half, Lingard at the start of the second, missed penalty. We should have won this game.

- lingard

- squad lacks depth, which is a concern as the season progresses. Nobody on the bench who could give us another option.

- no truly reliable penalty taker. Not mad at Pogba for missing, it happens. I miss Denis Irwin and Cantona..

- Jon Moss was fecking awful and got more things wrong than right, and almost every bad decision was against us and not for us.

- pressing was good, energy was good. The team is exciting and starting to come together, we still need additions to the squad but Ole is building an identity. Not sure about his substitutions but you could put that down to lack of personnel.

Looking forward to the next game.

To quote Eminem "snap back to reality", last week was a lucky fluke, and this game proved it. The main problem with United is that Ole is tactically inept, his method is only counter attack, only one method. The team is good enough to win against Wolves, but the tactics were all wrong. Yes the Glazers did not fully back the manager, but this was a winnable game. But everyone is too emotionally swayed to realize that the manager is not good enough to manage a big club. But now that United will become a midtable team, talking about top 4 is a joke.
What a lot of fecking shite.

I think we will look back at this as not being a bad result. It feels like a loss with the missed penalty but this is a place where we struggle so a point is better than nothing.

Just got to move on and hopefully string some wins together from here.
:lol::lol:
This squad has way to fragile mind, this is going to eat them up for weeks to come. As soon as something goes wrong from here on now, it will be a total collapse. Just lay down and give up. It hasn't been any different since 2013, and it's not about to change now.

You can say he needs to be more effective attacking, but if he misplaced one ball I must have not been looking.
Pogba could learnt a lot from his distribution, he set us on the urgent defensive about ten times with wayward balls.
McTominay misplaced quite a number of passes, especially last half hour or so. Not his finest game...

I thought we played some good stuff. Very controlled through most of it, never panicked. Unlucky not to win. I do think we’d score more if Martial and Rashford get the ball more in good positions.

No it just explains why you are baffled by such simple things in football. You concede 1 goal, you're very lucky another one didnt go in off the inside of the post = You cannot have been comfortable. Those things are polar opposites.
It seems you are angry and confused. I'm not sure how someone hitting the post and then someone scoring a worldie turns a defensive performance into lucky and rubbish.

You have it sounding like we scraped a point when United were the more likely to win it and missed a bloody penalty. Wolves were at home with the ground shaking and we totally nullified them. They couldn't play their usual game and the Doherty injury was a blessing.

"If you want to take it, you take it." What if you both want to take it? This isn't a good system. Just give it to Rashford. Pogba did well to win the penalty, but he misses penalties.

I think United should start going by the name of Bi-polar United, One moment we are up, the next we are down, if this is how it is going to be all season, then I am going to get my neck brace ready, and find a therapist on speed dial.

This 4-2-3-1 isn't working very well.
Pogba and Mctominay both looks better further forward.
Lingard runs a lot but doesn't offer much creativity and endproduct.
Rashford and James offer pace but are not consistent enough in their decisionmaking.
Shaw is starting to look like a leftie version of a declining Valencia. Stops everytime to play the simple pass backwards.
Lindelöf needs to play better to keep Tuanzebe on the bench.

I knew this game would be more diffcult than against Chelsea, but still disappointed with that perfomance.

Neville’s gorging on humble pie now.
Become an absolute twat of a pundit when it comes to foreign players in our team.

Will never come near our club or amount to anything in management. Which is sad really. Reduced to being a mouthpiece.

Even Phil has had a more successful managerial career than him.

To be fair, that was a brilliant save rather than a poor penalty. I have seen worse penalties roll in.
sorry mate I disagree. Nice height for the keeper to save. Close to him as well.
Rather see Rashford taking the penalties.

Yeah, it almost seems Ole has instituted a "anyone" can take it policy. I'd rather he just appoint Rashford as the taker and that its.
Rashford should flat-out demand to be the main penalty taker.

"My record speaks for itself. Why is this even a debate?" or something along those lines.

Well Mctominay did misplace two easy passes in the second half when he for once tried to pass the ball forward. One led to a dangerous siutation if i remember correctly. My point is i will never slag a United player for being brave and trying things that nobody else in the team dare or can do.
That's it, Pogba will of course lose the ball as the one creative player out there.
However, he has to learn the angles and places not to risk it, he played Wolves through quite a few times when under no pressure.

Won't say I'm mad about the result. Said from the start I would be happy with 4 points from the first 2 matches.

However this match shows every single reason why we're going to finish 5th this season and it's nice it's appearing early to not get our hopes up.

1- Terrible and useless bench.
2- Terrible midfield.
3- Over dependence on a very inconsistent player as Pogba.
4- Not signing any replacement for Lukaku.
5- The inconsistent quality of management of Ole for matches.
So our striker pops a goal but we need a striker. Martial has been great so far. Lingard played well but crapped the volley, otherwise he was solid. Mctominey had a bad 2nd half.

I would have liked to see Greenwood given more time maybe around the 75' mark for either Lingard or James, but Mata looked done, not sure if just rusty or steep decline but at this point he's only getting picked ahead of others because of seniority.
I agree mate, in my mind Gomes was our most impressive player in preseason. He's a better player at this stage and when we dominate games, like today, he would have created so much more than Mata or Lingard. Ole needs to realise he's our best 10 for games like this. Honestly he should play all games except City and Pool. He's already better and he has a huge potential gain over the rest. I'm just sad because the performance was good and it's 2 points lost. Liverpool had much more trouble this weekend and got 3, we seem to have lost this touch/luck. If Ole had cojones then Gomes is a no trainer and the worst thing is that we all know it.

They’re right that there should be one designated penalty taker.

And that should be Rashford.

And I don't think Maguire will even get an opportunity to score from corner kick for us. We are terrible at delivering set piece, how does the entire united team not have a set piece taker for years.

This isn't a problem for this game alone, a good set piece taker gurantees you 10+ goals a season, but here we are letting Shaw loop weak balls into the box from corners.

Why's this not identified as a problem

Ole has just said there's two penalty takers Pogba and Rashord. Neville needs to apologise to Pogba.
He should really man up and pick one or the other. He's the manager, he should be making those decisions

Lingard will blag another season in the team, he’s as much use as a chocolate teapot.

I’m never confident when Pogba takes pens so want surprised he missed.

feck Wolves our bogey team

What a lot of fecking shite.
Well, we saw last season when we started well, but after the honeymoon period was over, we showed relegation form.
This season is only 2 games old, so it's too early to make any judgement, but I do expect Ole to be fired in 2019, due to poor performances. I hope I am wrong, though, because we need to move forward - not fire manager after manager, hitting the reset button, every time.

I thought we were absolutely toothless and lazy in the first half, few efforts on goal and far too casual. The second half we almost collapsed.
The left side of our play was not fit for purpose with many a ball being played out to Shaw only for him not seeing any options forwards so the ball goes into silly time wasting defensive passing. It's alright Radford and lingard running a lot but they are certainly not running into space where they are needed.
The midfield is not working.
Why the hell did Olly not bring n greenwood much earlier, as lingard wasn't in the game at all.

Tale of two halves really. If you're disappointed in the first half, can't help you there. Second half was back and forth and credit to Wolves who made the necessary changes.

Best hope is having a solid defence and sneaking a top 4. Still need a right winger, a replacement for Lingard and midfielder. Oh and a left back.

long long way away from challenging.

Finally some sense.

Issue is that we don’t have good delivery from the wings especially when rashford is on the left. Lingard is also a waste at 10. That’s such a key position if we are playing with strikers cutting inside. He creates nothing for us.

Its alarming how badly we lack quality on the wings, awb and shaw dont offer a great deal going forward, the likes of James, lingard and mata are not the answer to our right wing, rashford is about the only half decent one but he doesn't exactly cause the right back massive issue he tends to have to drift infield to be effective.

Couldn't wait for this game but so deflated by the result (not the performance). I know that people are just going to use this as an opportunity to bash Pogba and/or OGS but it is just the second game. Just have to hope that the Dippers and Arse draw this weekend.

Ole's explanation of Rashford and Pogba being the two designated penalty takers, and whoever feels confident taking it sounds a bit woolly to me.
Well, it's not that stupid if you look at it.

If there is only two of them in the pecking order, they get to choose who takes it.

There comes a game where you're a attacker and nothing is going your way...and if a pen comes along, you just NEED to take it! To get your engine started.

Maybe Pogba needed a headline - Pogba wins it for United, so he took it.

Failed, but, feck it.

Hang on, the chap was talking about Wan Bissaka needing to be better in possession. He's the guy I was talking about not missing a pass.

McTom, I don't really expect anything of on the ball.

Excellent performance first half, wolves are a good team they were always going to come at us in the 2nd.. we deserved to win but cant complain at the draw. A point more than last season. We look an entertaining team and that pleases me.

I do actually think we have the makings of a good team. Martial has all the talent in the world to make it as a striker and our defence looks a lot more resolute than it has been in a while. It would have been very easy to go on and lose that game after going behind to what is becoming a bogey team for the top sides, especially considering what happened three times last season. We were a wonder save away from winning which is positive enough.

I do think we should have one penalty taker and Rashford looks to have a real talent for them and has a huge amount of self belief. Lingard really can not be more than a bit part player and Dan James should probably be an impact sub whilst he settles in.

Didn’t watch the game but from the forum, Lingard is getting a lot of feck. Ole needs to have some balls to drop non-performing players. Lingard definitely comes to mind. For god sake, why does he deserve to play for Utd? If Welbeck was let go then Lingard is no better. I don’t understand how can Lingard be still in the XI. Please drop him and put in Gomes or Sanchez (I know he was great once before). Lastly, Pogba penalty is shit. Rushford is a cool cucumber when it comes to penalty, let’s appoint him as the full time taker.

It's ridiculous to suggest we were lucky defensively. Genuinely don't know what game you just watched. We were totally assured at the back and their goal and strike of the post came from set pieces.

Thought we did just fine overall. Should have won, but it happens. Ditto for the penalty miss, thought Pogba had a decent game.

Not sure how Martial is top rated here, missed 2 absolute sitters.

Lingard dire, mata even worse...

Loads loved James performance. I personally can't see the talent or any justification for him to be starting for us, but that's personal opinion I guess.

Loads of positives in that performance, though our squad is paper thin. I keep saying it and will do so again, OGS is criminal to rely on the youngsters to win games for us.
